[q] Dalvik wipe confirmation? - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I wipe the dalvik and battery stats, it just goes RIGHT back to the previous screen. shouldn't there be SOME kind of confirmation that the wipe took place? If so and since im NOT getting that confirmation, what do I need to do to fix this?
Thank you in advance to all of you that answer me.
p.s. - WTH is up with this ghost VM notification from sprint. I am running the RC1 from Darch and this darn VM wont GO AWAY!!

maybe try re-flashing your recovery?

Clockwork froze on Dalvik cache clear

So I was installing a new kernel and as recommended I cleared Dalvik cache. BUT....clockwork froze up right when it finished. What do I do? I don't want to do anything until I know the right process.
Edit: Screw it. Held power and rebooted and got on with my life.

You talking about 3.0.1.0? Nope. Froze on me. But nothing a turn off/on can't fix.

Agreed the issue is NOt fixed in 3.0.1.0 as I have it freeze from time to time also still. Not a big deal IMO tho like being mentioned.

[Q] CM9 Reboot Issue

I just installed CM9 via the Novacom2 method. The tablet seems to reboot itself after a few minutes of being booted up for no apparent reason. I can start up the device, and not even touch one thing, and after a bit it will self reboot.
Anyone experiencing this? Should I do a reinstall? Novacom2 method, or a complete factory reset with CWM?
CM9 runs extremely smooth otherwise, but I can't have it up for more than 5 minutes with a self reboot. It's bizarre.
Thanks in advance people...
I meant ACMEInstaller2 where I wrote Novacom2 ....
The only time I got random reboot is if I try to overclock. I went to replace CWM with TWRP today, and checked in CPUspy something quick. I had 36 hours of up time (remember this only dropped 4 days ago). Initially I tried to OC, even only going one step up I got freezes, and reboots. But leaving it at stock frequencies I have zero stability issues.
I would say to start fresh. With a fresh downloaded copy. Go into CWM and wipe data / factory reset, wipe cache, advanced > wipe dalvik, mounts > format system, data, cache, then reinstall, and install the charge fix. Then don't restore anything, and see if that fixes it.

that may be the route I go. After about 15 reboots it is currently holding steady I have not made any interventions.
As a side issue, I get email notifications but the email app crashes upon opening. Gmail works fine though....

Try fixing permissions and wiping up cache from CWM, that fixes the reboots after power-on for me.
It used to do it if I left the screen to go off, but is fine now
I too am having reboot issues, but it only happens when I'm doing something. So far trying to open the Photoshop PS Touch app will cause a reboot, clicking settings in boat browser, etc. It's strange as hell.
I as well get the stock android mail client crashing when opened but its notifacations and gmail all work. I just installed maildroid and disabled stock email and seems to work OK

I have the same issue, but normally when the screen is on, it always reboots when I try to connect to usb storage, I have a galaxy s2 running on stable(nightly had too many bugs). anyone has the same problem?
I usually get reboots when I let the screen turn off due to inactivity. I tried installing TWRP and doing a clean install from there but it rebooted at the setup screen for CM9. I've had reboot issues since I first installed CM9, but its improved a little bit. I did try uninstalling android completely then reinstalling, but still got reboots. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
I think the best thing to do is use ACMEUninstaller to complete remove Android from your TP, then reinstall from scratch. I had reboot issues after upgrading from CM7a2 until I did a complete wipe.

[Q] hit the CM permission button while updating caused issues

Try flashing over.
Wipe data, cache and Dalvik and start fresh. It sounds like you had a bad flash...

I did the exact same thing and thought I had screwed things up. Luckily I had backed up prior so I simply restored it and it appears to have been fixed. There might be another way to remedy this in case you don't have back up though.
Good luck with finding a solution.

Busted note?

So,
My partners note is running CleaNote v4, with NoteCore v13 standard. Today, after shutting off Automatically through empty battery, she plugged the phone in for half hour and tried turning it back on. ever since.. its simply not starting, the boot screen is active but not proceeding beyond it for anything up to an hour.
and therefore..
ive tried the usual, let it charge full, nothing. wiped dalvic, cache and battery stats.. nadda.
when i choose to wipe dalvic now however, i get the message .. E: unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]
im hoping its not as serious as it looks, ive searched it and there doesnt seem to be a solid solution anywhere, should i just factory reset?
ive reflashed CleaNote v4 via CWM.. been booting again.. for a long, long time.
afraid im all out of options, factory reset? flash stock rom and return to sammy?
You can do factory reset as you are on safe Kernel OR you can try flashing some other custom rom using cwmr, but best way is to flash stock GB rom using odin.
I agree with the post above.. but better try to go first to CWM, wipe cache partition, wipe data, wipe dalvik cache, reboot recovery and reboot system... if the phone's still stuck on 'Samsung's' bootlogo... then go to the last option of downgrading to Sammy's Stock GB and work your way up again to flash CleanNote after.
Oi
Cheers fellas,
Sorted it, just a factory reset fixed it.. still get the same error message in CWM when wiping dalvic.. BUT..
restored the wifeys ice age village save from nandroid backup before i wiped.. my nuts are safe, so are her ingame nuts!
i flash my note every few days, and face the odd hiccup, hers has never had a single hiccup on the trusty CleaNote/NoteCore combination..wonder what caused it? thanks anyway!
I read somewhere before that you shouldn't run your battery juice out completely... Always leave a little juice out and charge it back again to full. Never leave it to run dry... Li-Ions are not designed to be completely drain out.. with a small juice left, you need to recharge it back again. It's not good for the battery itself to leave it completely drained.

[Q] Bootloop - Samsung Galaxy S5830 B with CM10.1.6

Hello all
First of all, I'd like to say that I've spent a lot of time searching through XDA and other websites on the internet, and so far I didn't find a solution to my problem, and that's why I'm creating this new thread.
I have a Galaxy Ace S5830B and just flashed Mardon's version of CM10.1.6 ROM in it, following every single step on his guide, using CWM 5.0.2.6.
I made sure that before flashing the new ROM I wiped the whole thing, clearing cache, dalvik cache, formatting /system and doing the factory reset.
I did not manually flash any kernel.
Everything runs smoothly and ok, just like all compliments the ROM gets on his topic, except for when I have to shut the phone down.
Once it is shut down and I'm powering it back on it gets into a boot loop that won't go past the Samsung logo. It means that the Samsung logo goes on, fades off and then it loops back to it, and the Cyanogenmod blue circle loading animation never comes.
It only works when I get back into CWM and hit "reboot system now" . Then it reboots normally.
I'd just like it to act normally, booting normally straight from a powered off state without having to go through CWM everytime I need to switch the phone on. That's because it's my father's phone, and having him getting into CWM every now and then after a battery run off is too risky, you know what I mean.
Any help will be very very much appreciated.
Thank you
Riggs

Try doing a factory reset, it might solve it. Do post the result. Hope I Helped
Already did it, also wiping cache and dalvik cache. No solution.
But thank you anyways =)

I also noticed this problem on my Ace S5830 and I have no idea why. I thought I was the only one who is having this problem. If anyone knows why, please tell.

When you are using CM10.1 by Mardon, NEVER WIPE DATA/FACTORY RESET!! ...You should fix your problem flashing again the rom
The ROMs are already preconfigured and when you wipe data/factory reset, all those settings will be lost and the device won't be able to boot successfully again
Oh, nice to know that! I'll try it soon, then I'll post the results.
