[Q] phone reboots to a black screen - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got SamSet 1.9 working great, but then i tried to change the battery indicator.
I downloaded the zip and renamed it update.zip and ran it like usual. But now my phone reboots to black screen. I think i might have used the wrong version of the batteri indicator
What can I do?
edit: fixed

go into download mode using the 3 button combo
then flash back to stock ROM using Odin3

[Q] ROM flashing keeps failing need help..

EDIT: Can be closed, fixed it by going into recovery and wiping data/cache, never had to do that before in other flashes so didn't know it was needed
Hi guys,
first of all I'm not another first time flasher, I already succesfully put 4 other roms on my galaxy s but now I don't know what to do..
I came from jm5 and wanted to upgrade to jm8 today so I back upped everything and started the process, I thought I'd best follow richthoven's instructions so I first flashed the pit file + repartition, and then after pass, removed battery, back to download mode and put pda, modem, csc etc like always and started flashing.
Now my problem is from what I remember after the final reboot before odin sais pass the s logo dissapears and the phone boots into touchwiz, but now after the s logo dissappeared, my screen just stays black and after a minute or two odin sais passed, but there's nothing on my screen, and even after disconnecting and removing battery and try to boot it hangs on the s logo for a few minutes then a black screen with the backlight buttons highlighted.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated!
PS: I already tried the flashing procedure twice, same result

[Q] Black screen after boot?

I have an i9000m which I had flashed to Froyo JPO with Odin, then installed Darky's ROM v 4.0. I had been using this for a while with no problem but a couple days ago it shut itself off for apparently no reason and when i tried to turn it on it would just get to the Galaxy S startup screen and then continuously restart and never fully boot. I could still get into download mode so I flashed back to the stock eclair JH2 firmware, but when I tried to turn the phone on, it would go through the normal boot sequence, but then i would be stuck at a black screen, with the bottom two buttons lighting up. I played around with flashing various different firmware versions, but it didnt help. After searching the forums it looks like it might be a problem with the internal SD card, but I'd like some other opinions/advice. Could anybody help me get my phone functioning again?
I'm having the exact same problem since today. It started out of nowhere; one moment the phone is working fine, the next its rebooting and it gets stuck...
Anyone got a solution besides a factory reset?

[Q] di11igaf's rom v5.3 Boot Issue

I just downloaded 5.3 after having the same sort of boot issues with 5.2
Odin one click stock ROM
Master Reset
Root
Clockwork Flash
The phone hangs on boot screen. With 5.2 i let it set there for over an hour with nothing happening. I even flashed it a few times. I then removed the battery and powered the phone back on and it booted into the phone but after about 10 sec it would go back to the boot screen and hang. I am having the same issues with 5.3, but admittedly it has only been out for 15 min but it looks to be the same issue.
Please help. I have heard nothing but good things about your ROMs and I am dying to try them.

oh crap, need help

so i flashed to stock and when i boot my phone up or it resetted after the galaxy s bootscreen its just blank black, and if i touch it or something it keeps beeping
Remove battery for about a minute. Then flash to stock again and dont remove it from the usb or touch it until it fully boots up.
if rebooting the phone does not work, hope you can still get into download mode, then try to reflash the rom.
i used the att odin1click, then i used odin3 and used the rogers files, works perfectly now, going to flash supernova

[Q] Note won't boot on XXLSA

I was using my note to control my Google TV when it restarted. It stuck at the first splash screen, the black and white one before the Samsung boot animation. Restarting the phone either by holding the power button or pulling the battery has no effect. I booted to stock recovery and wiped the cache to see if that helped, but it didn't. And now I can't boot to recovery, it just restarts when it gets to the recovery screen now. I can still boot to download, and seeing as the symptoms looked similar to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2034859 I copied what he did and used Odin to flash the stock rooted gingerbread rom from the toolbox by dr.ketan http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801341. The flash succeeded, but it still won't boot, and now I can't even get to the recovery screen, but download mode still works.
I'm not sure what to do, should I try and flash an unrooted GB rom?
BTW, I was using a rooted stock JB rom XXLSA before this went wrong, and I hadn't installed anything that day. Also, I hadn't noticed until today but although there is no yellow triangle the download mode has a count of 1, is there a way to fix this if I need to send it back?

Click to collapse
Flash a gb rom with odin.. And Triangle away app will reset the flash counter in download mode
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Its worth trying a GB rom which has WIPE written next to it from Dr Ketans thread. install using odin a see what happens
Not sure what fixed it, but it's working now.
I just left it plugged in to the mains on the boot screen and it eventually booted up into the stock GB rom, and now the recovery mode works. If I try flashing the XXLSA again it locks up still, not sure why, but it won't boot. I've gone back to using CM10.1 nightlies as I was before trying the stock JB, and that is working as well as can be expected.
