I Fried my N1 - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Recently a bad charger accident fried my nexus one. On investigation it was found that the mid chassis has been damaged and if i get a replacement for the same the phone should work fine. Since am in India, this phone is not covered under warranty nor are the part available. Can somebody help me by pointing me to site wherein i can buy the spares for the phone. I found this site in China but they are not selling it as of now.

The part shown is the one that has been damaged.

Great find thanks

I stopped using my home charger because a few days ago, I'd plug it in, it would show it was charging but I'd wake up and it would be almost dead. Next night, same thing. I plugged it in one day, watched it, and it was LOSING power pretty quickly.
I think my charger has a short as well.

I think im having a problem with my charger as well, If i use the A/C charger when I wake up the phone is extremely hot so I play it safe and use usb and a blackberry charger

[Q] DS7 stopped charging. Fix ?

Hi I've got my DS7 for a while now but 2 days ago it stopped charging battery.
I thought maybe the charger is broken so I plugged it to my laptop via USB cable only but every time I've tried my laptop crashed and turned off ( I've got Asus G72GX which have safety switch when there is issue with power ).
I've tried also to connect it to my PS3 to charge it but no sucess too.
Right now I can't do anything about it because Dell Support told me that even if my DS7 is still on warranty I can't calim it because I bought it from Amazon from original owner, bastards ...
Any ideas ? Is it common issue with DS7's ?
No this is not common. Was it like this when you first bought it?
The s7 will not actually say it's charging if it's not on a 1/2A source. Pretty much only dedicated chargers can provide 1/2A, most laptops and pcs and etc usually dont.
You can get a cheap charger replacement at Amazon.

It was allright before.
I just bought new charger on ebay to check if its the charger or the actual device issue but it will arrive probably after christmas.
Thanks everyone.

Possibly dead USB port

Arg.
So my otherwise adorable 1 year old somehow got his hands on my Captivate this weekend. When we finally caught him, he was chewing and slobbering on it pretty much right where the USB port is. After getting the phone back out of his grubby little hands, my wife and I took it completely apart and have had the whole works soaking in rice for a day or so.
When I put it back together, it booted just fine, and everything seems to be in working order. Except...when I plug a cable into the USB port, it doesn't charge, and it doesn't connect to my computer for storage mounting/flashing. This would be a bit of a problem.
I've checked for obstructions in the port itself and there don't seem to be any. I can get by for now without charging because my wife and I have the same phone (so we can periodically swap batteries...), but she's leaving town for two weeks at the end of this week. I really don't want to have to buy a new phone...so any ideas on fixing this would be greatly appreciated.

Once the USB port is gone its gone, you would need to get an external wall charger for it and a wifi file browser.
there might be some moister in it yet, but generally the captivates had issues with the USB port just flaking out like that. Its a common problem for this phone, and also has happened to mine.
Or you can just pay ~35$ to get it fixed, look in my sig. They are good!

Hmm...I didn't even realize that was an option. I'll be looking into that. Thanks!
They fixed mine and it works great. I would also order a new cable from them for like 7 bucks. It is all well worth it!
interesting, didnt know about that one either
Update:
It's apparently not *quite* as dead as I thought. It's still not recognizing my computer or telling me that it's charging...but apparently it is actually charging my battery. I plugged it into my computer just to see and left it. It never said that the phone is charging, but when I came back a few minutes later the battery meter had gone up, and it's still doing that fairly consistently.
That's at least good news for now. Even if the USB transfer is dead, I'm still OK as long as I can charge. As long as I don't have to use download mode...
That sounds like a bad cable, just buy one of those first, cheaper and easier to check!

It's nothing to do with the cable. We have four USB cables and two different car chargers. It's the same thing with all of them, and they all work perfectly on my wife's phone.

My first Captivate had a USB port go bad.. I tried 10 different cables and decided for some reason it was a ROM issue and got into download mode.. well let's just say I was buying another Captivate the next day.. lol
I did resurrect it by buying a Captivate with a broken screen on Ebay cheap. Combined the two and it's actually a later production and the GPS works good compared to hardly at all before. M yold screen and new guts.. Now I have a spare phone to try new Roms on without messing up my daily driver.. (Dark Knight 4 atm)
I see broke screen Captivates for $40-80 on Ebay regularly..
My wife also has a captivate with a dead USB port. So I went on amazon and searched for captivate batteries and external charger and found a package that came with 2 extended life batteries and the wall charger that charges one separatly from the phone while you use the other in the phine . Its made by Laza wireless and both batteries and charger was 15.99 and shipped free. Got it in two days and works great and was a whole lot cheaper than a phone.

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread but, I have had the same problem for months also caused by a toddler sucking on the phone and cables. I swap batteries daily. stock/1800/2430 mah. I am curious if anyone knows of a wireless charging option. I know my wii batteries are inductive and it is just the new battery and charger on a stock remote. is there an inductive charger and battery available for cappy? is wireless charging dangerous to the phone if it wasnt designed with it in mind? for that matter is anything available for anyother phones besides the lumia 920 and maybe nexus I think?
cheapest, best option is to get the USB port repaired by mobiletechvideos.com, imho.
I know of no induction solution for captivate that works without a good usb port.
I figured and also thought the Cappy wouldn't be a device supported by a new battery developer when there is so many newer ones out.
Thx

Stressful Charging Issue

So one day my phone randomly stopped charging correctly..... It was working perfectly like 2 days ago. But now every time I want to charge my phone I have to bend the HTC charging cord down so that it will charge and most of the time it doesn't even charge properly. If I just put it in normally it will not charge at all. The highest I got my phone to charge was 47% and from there it just goes down because my phone doesnt charge properly.
Ive had a problem with my charging port before but Ive gotten it replaced and it was working perfectly.
I also got a brand new charging cord for about $30 so the cord is not the problem.
Ive also tried to use a friends cord and charge my phone but I still have to bend the cord to get it to work.
Someone please help me with this.. This is very stressful. My phone was working fine 2 days ago. And its been working perfectly for a long time. But now all of a sudden it wants to stop working properly.

Same exact thing happened to me, I wouldn't toy around with it too much because I completely broke mine to where it won't charge at all now..
What I suggest is getting a charger dock for just your batteries (if you have more than one) or just buy a new charger port and replace it.. it's only held in by two screws.

How much does a charger dock cost?
You could probably find a cheap charger dock on eBay. Albeit it might be of poorer grade, it would be enough to get you by.

Charger
Amazon is a good resource for many things, including chargers. I bought a battery for my old phone there, and it came with a free external battery charger. It turns out that it charges most any LiOn battery. The charger is built by Anker, and costs about $5 or $10. A very good technique is to buy a second battery and charge it, then swap batteries when the phone's battery gets low. That way you always have a charged battery available.

[Q] mophie juicepack htc one

Hi has anyone had issues with their mophie juice pack? I bought a brand new one straight from mophie and when I put it on, my phone starts spazzing out. It takes screenshots randomly and the lights keep blinking on the bottom and it tries to restart itself. I thought the mophie was defective so they sent me another one and it still does the same thing! Anyone else had issues with this? My HTC is 100% stock.
Yeah they're **** and Mophie is aware of it. Mine would just not charge the phone lol. I had to put the case on the phone flip the switch to "On" plug the charger into the case then unlpug, then it would start charging lol. Idk they're weird.
have not had any issues with mine like that. I occasionally get a message about only using the supplied charger to charge your device.

So is it mophie's fault or htc's fault?
Also, is there anything wrong with using another micro-USB cable to charge the phone? Why does that message pop up about not using the stock charger? I didn't think that anything bad could happen to it.

I Would imangine that the fault falls under mophie's as they should've test it throughly.
Also its recommended that you use the charger it comes with because stock adapters/chargers provide the right amount of power to charge the phone. Sometimes A/C adapters (and USB cables) from other phones send out less or more juice then the phone needs. Less juice longer charge time, more juice fast charge times but ofcourse this coems with a risk because you can also damage your battery with lot more juice. For example its not recommended to use a Note 2/3 adapter with an Evo LTE cause it can possible short the battery. Me i only use the OEM charger HTC for HTC Phones Samsung for Samsung Phones Etc. unless im out and about then im using my external battery. Also from Personal Experiance with my Evo Lte it took longer to charger with the note 2 USB cable (Note 2 USB with HTC adapter) then it did with the HTC USB/adapter. I also have a wall outlet with one outlet and 2 USB ports also takes longer to charge having my HTC USB pluged in (i dunno why). so i charge using the HTC Charger (again unless im out and about then i use my external battery).

I Actually remember reading a few years back the samsung USB's would charge samsung phones perectly fine but charged other with less power. dunno how true that was.

[Q] battery trick

hi, I'm having difficulties doing the battery trick with a particular nexus one phone. I have a second one, and it's not as hard to do with that second one. but my 'daily driver' is really driving me nuts, it can sometimes take over an hour to get the damn thing going, and it gets exponantially frustrating when flashing roms and having to do battery pulls because adb reboot won't work. Using different charges don't really help, but sometimes I get more lucky with a wall charger instead of a usb wire in a usb to wall charger
So, what triggers the battery bootup? is it a voltage boost? could I trigger it by sticking a second charger's stripped wires in the battery pins? I even have 2 extra batteries with the same voltage, if that can help anything!
What is a battery trick
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
battery trick is to plug the charger in the usb port, then remove and reinsert the battery a few times because the power button is defective - a common problem with nexus ones
my profile is too new to post a youtube link
Not sure why its not working for you but you can get a replacement button for less then $15 and it takes less then 10 min to fix

When I fixed mine about a year ago I just searched on eBay, it comes as the whole flex cable. I have fixed a lot of electronics over the years so I just took it apart and replaced it but I'm sure if you search there will be a disassembly guide somewhere. If you get stuck feel free to ask though

Battery trick not working except in a certain house
I know this is an old thread but since I'm currently forced to use my nexus one (broken power button, repaired once under warranty, broke agai) as a temporary replacement, I've had to deal with the battery trick issue again.
I DON'T GET IT. Back when it was my main phone, the BATTERY TRICK worked fine, took a few times max. Now I have collated all the info I can find on how to do it (some of which is actually conflicting) and it WILL NOT WORK, except if I do it at my girlfriends house which MAKES NO SENSE.
IT IS NOT:
1.) The charger (various brands/both USB and wall socket)
2.) THe battery (authentic HTC battery)
3.) It doesn't work whether its fully charged (GREEN LIGHT) or charging up (ORANGE LIGHT)
4.) It doesnt work when I do it 20 times in a row with the "correct" timing (battery back in JUST as the light turns off), and not when I do it 20 times in the way which this video does it (waits for one orange flash before reinsertion)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2O5adV-jj64&feature=relmfu
5.) Have tried removing sim and sd card, charging it for days, just EVERYTHING.
Sorry just venting as this just boggles my mind.
Anyone have any input on this age old issue? What's weirdest is that it used to work fine for me around 2012. And no, not buying the goddamn flex for 30 dollars, I have enough issues getting my One X+ diagnosed (been waiting 3-4 weeks on some incompetent repair shop).
