[Q] Any hint on when new fw will hit Scandinavia? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Seems like every other region on the globe have got some kind of new fw after jf3, but just not Scandinavia. Any hints of when this might happen?

Anybody has Generic_UK SINGAPORE ?

Hello,
anybody has the Generic_UK either R1A or updated new R2A010 who could dump it? I had that customized version before I used the one floating around here and that version was way better!
But of course I forgot to first dump my own before upgrading.
I would really appreciate if somebody could post that version (customized Singapore) for me to donwload and flash.
Thanks very much.
PS
Perhaps someone with EMMA access could get that version off?
Or, someone who has Singapore and has updated to R2A could zip those downloaded files and upload for me?
I am just looking for a way to somehow get that customized version back to my phone!
Use SEUS software to update to original R2AA10.
if your a singtel user there is no real customisation they just add the mio sip program but it was not on the rom because i have lost the file after my first hard reset id just after i got the phone lol... i thin if you need the mio panel the best way is to g and see singtel to have the files back.

SEUS updates what you have on your phone! Since I don't have that version, it won't suddenly out of the blue decide "let's give this one the Singapore version"!
I don't even know what the differences or additions are, I just know that when I got the phone with Singapore UK, I had none of the problems other UK version users reported. And I did not think about that so I updated to the 'other' UK version floating around.
But perhaps there is someone with a Singapore version that either did not yet update and could dump it, or who has already updated but though SEUS (ony way the Singapore version will be updated!).
Or, sombody can get the Singapore Version directly form EMMA and could upload it.

[Q] European Firmware on Asian SGS?

Hey guys!
Just wanted to know if it's possible or okay to flash an Asian based SGS with European software...I was interested in checking out the beta releases with Froyo but they're only available as European firmware.
My phone was purchased from the US but it was apparently sourced from Singapore since it had Singtel stuff on it. I flashed it to generic Asian firmware and then updated it with Samsung KIES which gave me the Asian firmware upgrade (DXJG4) free from Singtel customizations (yay!)
And another question...which firmware do you guys recommend to stick with until Froyo is officially released? Like which firmware do you guys experience the least "black screens" or stalling/lag? I don't want to be installing random fixes just yet so I was hoping there's a firmware out there that has less or none of these issues.
Thanks in advance!

You can, just avoid the US/i9000M/i9008/Korean ROM's. But with XXJG1-JG5 roms on my singtel, I found the GPS didn't pick up a single sat.
I recommend XXJM5 currently.. GPS is usable (but still drifts, and doesn't respond when making sharp corners well), and everything which works on other roms seems to still work.
In regards to Froyo, don't bother. It's a fun play for a short time, but there are very few benefits, and plenty of serious disadvantages still (because JP1-JP3 still are in an early testing stage).
Also, it isn't known how service centres deals with flashing other regions firmware (and if they care enough to cancel warranty).
I also have an Asian SGS and im wondering if w/c is better JG5 or JM2.. Im still on our latest official firmware at JG4
can anyone share their experience of using european firmwares on asia models. i want to know too

Kies + update = new FW ?

heya fellas
just a small Q regarding Kies and how samsung works with it.
Does every kies update = a new FW release thru kies ? or do the FW updates have no relation to kies updates ?
I just randomly start kies from time to time and check my phones FW for any updates , iv done like a total of 2 kies updates ever since i got the kies software and currently upgrading to version 1.5.3.10093.31 . was wondering with the often so fast FW updates u fellas get in uk/europe , asia and the rest of the world. The middle east / africa hardly got any updates and all i know is ever since the original FW we only got the jpjg8 eclair version as a test FW which i have on my SGS right now and is considered the latest according to samsung. will samsung keep us hanging like with my HD i8910 depending only on custom fw from amazing people like faenil, HyperX who did almost if not all the work for samsung fixing their mistakes
Is that a Middle East specific release? I have v1.5.1.10074_45. Not heard anyone mention yours before.
@mazroui: kies and FW updates are not generally related, but might be a hint for an upcoming FW update.
@Tehpries: the version is new there are already at least two threads about it.

If you look at the times the other threads were started you will see they were begun later than my post.
Well one of them says: Today, 01:09 AM and your post is 14 hours later.
But never mind. My point is that new Kies version does not mean new official FW.
And I also hate the way Kies updates itself. Slow and unreliable. Resulted in an error at the end. As AllGamer said, it's a piece of ... kies
yup, this one came before the other ones
it just got lost in the pile
nope, i tried to upgrade for the same reason
to see if it was coming with the new ROM

thank you for the fast reply fellas, i sure hope we do get the update not so long after the international release if not with it ^_^
well my version 1.5.3.10093.31 i sure dont know how long ago came out since my auto update is off but today morning checked if kies had an update and it did but took way too long to download 68mb's and disconnected every 500kb or so
keeping my eyes on kies on daily basis starting today for any info regarding 2.2 or whatever they throw at us
P.S
no test mode now with this new version of kies T_T and it does a contacts backup before starting the FW check , very annoying >_<
i also have
Eclair - jpjg8 with arabic persain urdu
Could someone please post the download link for the very latest kies version ? Browsing the samsung website is a pain. Google search takes me to samsung site pages but I can't find any kies download link.... Is it just me ?

[Q] Help regarding Froyo upgrade and region change

Hey guys, first time poster here but been lurking for a while. Need to say a big thanks for all the great work going on here.
Some background before getting to my questions:
I bought my phone while travelling on business in Sri Lanka, I believe the phone is an Indian version. The firmware it is running is DDJG4 (not sure what other info I should be including here). I am heading back to the UK next week and want to upgrade to the latest official Froyo, preferably a EU/UK version.
So, my question(s) are:
1) What version should I be looking? I have had a look around the forums and it seems the XEU variant is what I need, is this correct?
2) I have also seen that I may need to take modem firmware (?) or other regional hardware config issues into consideration when changing firmware region, what's the story with this?
3) I have been thinking about using Kies to upgrade to the latest XEU firmware using the registry hacks (ie changing the ProductCode and HIDSWVER). While I am tech savvy and have looked at the appropriate threads about using odin etc to upgrade, but honestly I don't have time for that kind of thing anymore. My question regarding Kies is: obviously I would put XEU as the ProductCode, but what would I need to put as the HIDSWVER?
Thanks
can anyone shed some light?

[Q] Unbranded 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 Official ROM for 9305

Hi all,
New here, so please go easy. I had a search around and am a bit lost in trying to find what I am looking for.
Hoping someone may be able to help me please.
Is there a 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 unbranded ROM available for the 9305 (4G/LTE) model of the S3?
I have two GT-9305T's and want to get rid of the current the Australian Telstra ROM that's them.
Thanks in advance for your time and help.
For me I love the 4.1.2 I will never go back untill we officially get the 4.1.2 thanks to Ausdim we dont have to wait. Its much better then 4.11 more responsive more options and all round better
To answer his question: yes there is an unbranded version for sure. Atm only for 4.1.1. This is one of them: http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=8&view=9082
(For Sweden, but does not matter, you should be able to use any of them)
I flashed the Sweden one myself since I imported a Vodafone one from Germany.
