Battery - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have 3 main things killing my battery life...
Display, idle and cell standby...any settings adjustments recommended?
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App

Additionally, what do people feel is the best way to run Collins battery tweak
I am running cm 6 rc1
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App

Something else is killing your battery, that's just telling you the % of it while the phone is turned on. Download spare parts and see what it is.... as far as collins batt tweak I used 768mhz and get 90+ hours

I have spare parts...what kinds of things should I be looking for

partial wake usage, gps usage, network usage... see which apps are staying on the longest, TiKL was murdering my battery

Under network usage something with just a 0 in it is 99% blue....idk what that is

Anything showing a high % under "partial wake usage?"
Also, I use "Dimmer" form the market to keep my screen brightness down. I set it all the way down (using quick settings shortcut) for when I am inside and when I go outside or into a bright room I have it set to increase to 25% when I toggle the dimmer shortcut on my home screen. I thought the auto-brightness was making it higher than it needs to be in most cases.

Everything seems low under partial wake usage...

Hope this helps

Here, check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=762139
Seems like many others are reporting bad battery loss from CM6 -- looks like it has something to do with the display...it might not be properly "sleeping" even if the screen is off. Don't know if there's a fix yet but that other thread at least has some useful information in it.

I was having issues until I did the following......(and I am on the same build as you)
Go into recovery and wipe the dalvik cache. Reboot.
Set the automatic screen tweak under CM settings/user interface
These two things have seemed to make a pretty big difference. I am not running any tweaks or anything and with moderate use (some wifi, 10-15 emails, 4-5 texts, gmail sync) I am at 89% after three hours off the charger. While this isn't great (IMO) it is lots better than I have been getting. Hope that helps.
I had the same issue, but with only 3 hours of life between full charges, and one phone call for 15 mins.
I reverted back to 8/24.
Smolck you mean the automatic back light right?
I wiped kalvic cache... ill see how it goes without batt tweak and no apps running.

Yea. I just set it to what I thought were "power saving" settings. It seems the Dalvik cache is what did the main thing to help. All I can say is that I am still over 80% and I have been off charge since 7:00am CST. And this 8/25 build is SMOKING fast on my phone
It is fast. Its even faster with launcher pro.
Are you using the batt tweak? Which kernel?
Down from 55% to 50% in 75min

Stock kernel (what comes with the .zip) and no tweak.
Can someone do an analysis of my current battery usage and tell me what I need to do? Me hero won't even last half a day.

That screenshot isn't enough info. But go to settings/about phone/battery use and you will get a better idea of what is using the most power.
From 100 to 90% in 2 1/2 hours now. That's pretty good right? Stock 8/25 kernel w no tweak. If it keeps working ill backup and add other stuff and see

Well I think its fixed. Managed 13 hours and still 35% left using Google maps and Pandora plus regular use. Running the same configuration.

Battery values changes in increments of 10

The battery changes in increments of 10%. This makes me sad
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA App
I noticed that too. Didn't make me sad, but I thought it was really strange.
It's a smart phone dangit! Should be able to count battery percentages to the ones place. j/k.
It's just weird. I hope root will come soon.
Accurate Battery will be here once we can get a clockwork recovery.
Not really sure why most devices only show it in increments of 10% since the internal APIs totally support it.
However, to get around this I use "Circle Battery Widget" which will show the battery level to the 1% on pretty much any motorola phone.
You can download it for free by searching for "fr.depoortere.android.CircleBatteryWidget" in the market.
(Sorry, XDA won't let me post links yet )
I also use circle battery widget, works flawless

Yes that is a great app to use. I dont have a droid 3 until tuesday but hey i know alot lol. The 10 % battery increase is a motorola thing. Its like that on all of their droid phones.

Quick help with battery life app

Hello all. Trying to figure out why my battery left app says its 100% accurate but on my lock screen it will say 75% left there, and 56% left on the app. Are there any free or paid apps that are more accurate yet not giant Widgets? I'd like something that will tell me in time how many hours are left so when I tweak things I can find an improvement or regression in the tweaks.

[Q] Power Saver

Guys, do you keep your power saver ON the whole time? Cause I'm doing that. It seems to improve my battery life. My phones battery last more than a day, and while it's ON, I don't see any slow downs or lag which is good. I think it's better to leave it On the whole time. What do you think? Thanks!
I'm keeping Power Save ON always either. The options I've ticked there are the ones for CPU underclock and Data Management. For a week or so I've tried Power Saver combined with Snapdragon BatteryGuru but it didn't improved the battery life which I already was able to achieve so I've uninstalled it. Now I have installed Wi-Fi Matic and Smart Profiles (Free) with Power Save ON and I get the best battery autonomy.
Nope as long sleep mode im good

So it's better to leave it ON right? Will the notifications be delayed or the screen will slow down? What do you guys think I should do, leave it ON, or just when the battery is getting low then i'll ON it?

Leave it on. The slow down is barely noticeable, and it'll get you some extra time before the phone needs to be charged.
Personally, I only tick the cpu box.

There's no downside to leaving it on. 1.1GHz is plenty for most everything to run perfectly smoothly and it doesn't affect the GPU so gaming remains excellent. Personally I don't find it hugely useful (maybe an extra hour with my use) but it sure doesn't hurt anything

what do you mean not useful? It is actually. hehe. I mean it gives me more battery life. Do you keep yours ON all the time too?
I've found another great app for battery saving, which switch on/off data connections smarter than Power Saver. I'm talking about GreenPower Free Battery Saver / GreenPower Premium. I hope this helps you. It helped me.

Like I said, with my usage I only get about another hour, and yes that's with it on the whole time. I don't doubt that the way others use their phone could make it have a larger effect (I'm jealous of these people ) , but for me 1hr doesn't cross into the "useful" category.

Forcing the CPU to under clock won't affect your performance but potentially greatly improve battery life, so why not.

At&t Galaxy Note 3 Lag Battery drain

I have had my At&t Note 3 for about a week. When I first got the device I was amazed at the speed and great battery. But for some reason today lag started, rapid battery drain and screen keeps freezing. Has anyone else had this problem

Ouch. Not here. Getting 20+ hours on each charge. Have you rebooted? Sometimes a reboot helps clear up memory just like on a PC. Have you installed anything recently before the issues started?
Yes I have rebooted. Have not installed anything outside of playstore apps..hmmm I did install adobe flashplayer??

Haven't had problems with screen freezing, but I was getting some pretty subpar battery life.
It may be counter-intuitive but my battery life has Drastically improved by turning off power saver. I don't know if the throttle up/down on cpu and brightness is too aggressive and does more harm than good or what but this was the major offender for me. My battery went from ~10 hours to ~20+ on normal usage.
Some other things I did that netted a gain before turning off power saver.
Change Settings/Wifi/Advanced/Keep Wifi on During Sleep from always to only when plugged in.
Freeze app/task for S-Search
Freeze S-Voice
Turn off settings / controls / motions
Turn off settings / controls / air gesture
Turn off settings / controls/ smartscreen
Hey thanks for all the info. Will try all that u suggested
