[Q] Power Saver - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys, do you keep your power saver ON the whole time? Cause I'm doing that. It seems to improve my battery life. My phones battery last more than a day, and while it's ON, I don't see any slow downs or lag which is good. I think it's better to leave it On the whole time. What do you think? Thanks!

I'm keeping Power Save ON always either. The options I've ticked there are the ones for CPU underclock and Data Management. For a week or so I've tried Power Saver combined with Snapdragon BatteryGuru but it didn't improved the battery life which I already was able to achieve so I've uninstalled it. Now I have installed Wi-Fi Matic and Smart Profiles (Free) with Power Save ON and I get the best battery autonomy.

Nope as long sleep mode im good

So it's better to leave it ON right? Will the notifications be delayed or the screen will slow down? What do you guys think I should do, leave it ON, or just when the battery is getting low then i'll ON it?

Leave it on. The slow down is barely noticeable, and it'll get you some extra time before the phone needs to be charged.
Personally, I only tick the cpu box.

There's no downside to leaving it on. 1.1GHz is plenty for most everything to run perfectly smoothly and it doesn't affect the GPU so gaming remains excellent. Personally I don't find it hugely useful (maybe an extra hour with my use) but it sure doesn't hurt anything

what do you mean not useful? It is actually. hehe. I mean it gives me more battery life. Do you keep yours ON all the time too?

I've found another great app for battery saving, which switch on/off data connections smarter than Power Saver. I'm talking about GreenPower Free Battery Saver / GreenPower Premium. I hope this helps you. It helped me.

Like I said, with my usage I only get about another hour, and yes that's with it on the whole time. I don't doubt that the way others use their phone could make it have a larger effect (I'm jealous of these people ) , but for me 1hr doesn't cross into the "useful" category.

Forcing the CPU to under clock won't affect your performance but potentially greatly improve battery life, so why not.

Anything showing a high % under "partial wake usage?"
Also, I use "Dimmer" form the market to keep my screen brightness down. I set it all the way down (using quick settings shortcut) for when I am inside and when I go outside or into a bright room I have it set to increase to 25% when I toggle the dimmer shortcut on my home screen. I thought the auto-brightness was making it higher than it needs to be in most cases.

Seems like many others are reporting bad battery loss from CM6 -- looks like it has something to do with the display...it might not be properly "sleeping" even if the screen is off. Don't know if there's a fix yet but that other thread at least has some useful information in it.

Green Power drains battery

Hey everyone,
after flashing thousands of kernels and ROMs I finally found out what drains my battery: It's Green Power (I even bought premium...)!
This app is supposed to SAVE battery via toggling data on and off like Juice Defender but somehow it makes my CPU run mad... Has anyone else experienced this so far? I'm really upset cuz I paid money for this crappy app but I'm also glad that I found eventually out the cause of draining
Cheers!
pfff.. discovery... GreenPiss is draining my wallet, so it is logic that GreenPower will drain your battery...
I use green power premium too, but so far I haven't any problem with battery drain.
Why you think that it's the cause?

Battery burning super fast?

Whilst I have been having the screen on, it shouldn't be burning this fast and it certainly didn't use to. 23 minutes on battery and 20% burned?
Did you install a new rom or new kernel? You can install an app like BetterBatteryStats to check out what might be causing this battery drain.

Stock ROM 4.0.4 and have never rooted or flashed anything on before. It is completely stock and unaltered in every way. All I've done is install apps. It just seems to have been a little bad recently. I have BetterBatteryStats on, but the it isn't wakelocks. As I said, I've got the screen on consistently so the phone will always be awake. It is just that 20% in that amount of time seems really high, even for constant use, and I swear it didn't use to be that bad. I've installed Juice Defender because it tends to be good in how it managers network and WiFi. So far, things seem to be stabilising. But, I still want to know what can cause such sharp drainage...
Do you have a lot of apps running in the background? This is most likely the cause. Brightness is a big issue also. Flash a kernal!

Check that you have Auto-brightness enabled. Also, I found that certain apps can drain battery big time. I agree with checking via a battery stats program. Maybe an APP is running in the background causing the cpu to stay at max speed?

Totally agree. Before I root my Note to delete some unuse apps from stock 4.0.4, the battery drains very fast. The most reason is some apps running in the background.
Did you change your sim recently? Sometimes the culprit is sim card.

Not fixes, but suggestions:
- An app like Green Power will stop data usage when screen off
- As others said, look into your display. My favourite app is Display Brightness as it adds an invisible slider on your screen
- For some reason, Chrome in the last week began to EAT my phone. I uninstalled it and I'm back to a blessed 1% an hour drain

You may have to check your battery. Will it be hot when you are using it? Look at your battery, does it look "fat"? It happened once to me before, after changing a new battery. It's fine now. It was caused by overcharging it during the night.
I experienced it on my previous phone, now im going to prove it again in my note because i changed my sim recently and now i cannot achieved the 5 hrs i had before that my original sim card, best phone can do now is 3.5 hrs. I try to contact my provider if they can restore my previous sim card and see what will happen, its just a suspect.

Why would anyone want that? It'd be better just to go ahead and run over the phone with a bus. There's a reason the OC kernels got dialed back by devs. BTW it doesn't make the phone that much faster either. If you need 1.8 another phone is the way to go.

It strictly helps with lag IMO. I just like how my apps run smoothly and I can run multiple apps without the phone crashing & rebooting. Far as battery there is no app or tweaks that will help if you use 4.2. In fact I got rid of my battery apps as they all just eat memory and do things any user with common sense can do.

so did you determine that v6 supercharger is not necessary for our phones if using the latest version of NOS? i only ask because in your sig you used to have v6, but now it's just baked bean with nos.

Greenify is OK but your main battery culprit is Gnow/Maps. Technically Greenify is supposed to be able to hibernate Maps but that is useless as Gnow needs it quite a bit so it gets awaken a lot. I love Gnow and choose to live with that as I use mass transit and those features are needed. However if you don't, then disable Maps and that will increase your battery somewhat.
Far as Juice Defender and the like, they are a joke IMHO. I used Juice Defender for over a year (they haven't updated the app on over a year either) and just like a lot of them you only save battery if you let it disable data and Wifi when not in use. I don't really care for that and can turn those on and off at will myself. Trust me you will see these battery apps are all smoke & mirrors.
Far as NOS consumption of battery, seems to have no effect one way or another.

Massive battery drain after JB update.

Hi,
I was so satisfied with how good battery lasts till JB update came. Before that I would rarely charge before night but now I have to do it every night I am sort of light to average user. My main concern brought this stats you can see screen shot where android system uses most of the battery. What is going onhhere? I have a few apps that using but not much changed in my habits. I am with 3UK

Did you do a full wipe after the update?
Yes I did. All from the scratch. I just red that one htc one owner had similar issue and his fast boot option was off he enabled it and things got way better. so was mine off just enabled it.
Why is everyone so surprised at Android System being at the top of the new battery stats?
It makes sense really. If you don't use your phone a lot, and nothing else is running taking up power, the system is going to be at the top...
As far as an actual drop in battery life, I'd download GSM battery monitor or Better Battery Stats and check for wakelocks.

Yeah I agree, especially if you reset your battery monitoring often, it can be highly confusing and misleading to read battery usage stats. I use Du Battery Monitor which I've been happy with.
I have wakelock detector installed. And also noticed android system wakelocks on cpu wakelocks are high on the high. Higher than anything else. And this happend in the first half an hour I am on the phone. First screenshot is cpu wakelock and second is wakelock triggers.
What would you guys advice to monitor for battery usage : over what time period and what to pay attention most. My wake lock detector is on now and I will do more screenshots tonight.

Well at least your phone is going into deep sleep and doesn't look like any rogue app. You may want to Greenify facebook though.
Also look here for a battery "calibration", some say it worked for them: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43579577&postcount=36105
And don't forget you need to let your battery "settle" which takes a couple of days.

I...don't think 16 hours is terrible considering that you seem to have been doing some Youtube and PDF-reading. The percentage on that PDF viewer seems pretty high but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Facebook is obviously the biggest culprit remaining.
I would try to use Facebook in your browser instead of the app. I'm not a heavy Facebook user and don't need the notifications. It gave me a big battery boost after deinstalling the app. Facebook is constantly syncing and tracking your location, it's very batterie unfriendly
