You may remember me. I posted a thread before about 'sd card failure'.
I stopped posting because the problem was gone. until now.
I was listening to same music when I got a notification that my battery was low, then my Kaiser hung, I soft reset it and then it stopped reading the SD card.
I tried a hard-reset, no go.
My PC is reading both (a 1 GB and a 8 GB micro SD card) without any problems
Any ideas what happened?
I going to find out how I fixed it the first time, but I’m afraid that it was an accidental repair.
Have you tried accessing the sd card on a PC to ensure the events of the hang did not corrupt the card in some way?
Yes I have,
to be sure I formated the SD card. Didn't work.
Guys, sorry..
The Kaiser is reading the sd-card again.
I hate it whene I dont understand what is wrong.
Sorry for the ****like English
Thanks for help anyway
All HTC phone types have this same problem. It does not occur often, but when it does all you can do is re-insert, and re-insert, and re-insert... until suddenly the problem is gone again. I don't think anyone knows what causes it, but taking the card out and putting it back in 10-20 times seems a sure way to fix it.

It does..
Good to here I'm not the onlyone with this problem.
Thanks for de replays
You all didn't mention what brand/size/type card? I had this problem with every HTC phone I owned, EXCEPT the Tilt/Kaiser. I'm on my 10th month now with -0- problems.

Exact same here. Just not 10 months yet
I have been running CM7 off of my SD card for several weeks now, and it has been working very smoothly -- virtually no problems.
Today I installed the updated Barnes & Noble Nook app. It worked fine the first couple of times, but now every time I try to launch it I get the message:
"The application has stopped unexpectedly, please try again."
Then I am given the option to force close or report. The problem is that this is now happening with the majority of my apps. They are refusing to open. When I try to use any of my browsers, they open and shut in the blink of an eye.
The only two apps that appear to be working OK are Market and YouTube.
I tried rebooting, but that didn't fix anything.
Also, my Nook is showing a very low wifi signal, while at the same time my iPod Touch shows a strong signal.
Anybody have any ideas on how I can clear this all up? Is there any troubleshooting app I can run? Thanks.
Update: Market doesn't work now either. I can open it up, but it crashes when I try to download anything.
Dunno if it would cause this... but did you recently modify your build.prop file to install Netflix? If so, restore the original file, reboot, and see if it helps.
It could be oxidation on the microSD card connectors...
I have been messing around with Android on SD for some time, and I don't know what kind of microSD you are using but some of mine require periodic cleaning of the card edge connectors.
Just yesterday, one card I had started with the FCs and crashes and after cleaning the edge connectors it is working fine again.
I dunno, but that is what works for me...

Thanks for your suggestion. I took the card out and cleaned the contacts, but everything is still acting flaky. I tried to uninstall the nook app, which is the last thing I installed before everything started going haywire, but it force closes and won't let me uninstall it.
I'm afraid I'm going to have to wipe my sd card clean and reinstall CM7 all over again if somebody can't come up with a solution.
I have the market Nook app installed here on the 2.6.32 Beta 3.1, no problems..

Yeah, I really don't think it's the nook app that's causing all these problems, but what is? CM7 was working beautifully with no problems until today. Now, everything is force closing on me.
Probably somewhere down the line, corrupted SD card. Not all CM7/SD card installs play well, especially if you're using a Class 6/10 card as they have piss poor random small block writes. Read this thread:

Wow, that's pretty amazing. Thanks. I am using a Class 6 card, thinking that it would be better. Who knew?
Do you have Bluetooth turned on? My FCs stopped when I turned it off.
I was having a problem with a lot of force closes as well and it ended up being the SD card. Started off with a Transcend Class 6. Force closes all the time. Then tried a Sandisk Class 4. Runs smooth. The difference was night and day.

That's exactly what I'm using -- a Transcend Class 6. I will have to buy a Sandisk Class 4. Thanks for the tip!

I'll have to give that a try. Thanks.
How could this be?
I have two Transcend 8GB Class 6 SD cards. On one of them I have froyo, on the other is CM7.
Yesterday, the CM7 card started going wacky, locking up or force closing practically every application I tried. I rebooted, but that didn't help.
Well, I turned my Nook off, took out the CM7 card and popped in the froyo card. I then powered up. Now the froyo card is acting the same way as the CM7 card did.
How could this be? Is this just a coincidence, or is something internally in the Nook causing this? I mean, before yesterday, both cards were working fine, and then one day they both go bad? Hmmmmm?

I at one point actually got something inside my microSD card slot, but I didn't know it until it got on my microSD card and came out...
Maybe the connectors inside your Nook need cleaning...
I am gonna scrape up some change and buy a 4GB CL4 card from the 'shack' and see how CM7 likes it...
On a side note, does anyone have a life expectancy for microSD cards that have Android run off of them?
Not to knock the SD, but not goto eMMC, then you wouldn't have to worry about bad SD card connections. There are plenty ways to go back to stock. I could see using SD for a beta test, of course that's just my opinion.

Isn't it hard as hell to get things put on the eMMC now?

Looks like your sd card is beginning to wear out. Better backup as much as possible and replace it right away. I once had 2 kingston cards with similar issues. Formatting them seems to fix it for a short period of time only. Then eventually the problem returns.
Did you try erasing the card through the phone itself - that is putting it back again after un-mounting from your PC?

Ok so this phone is great and i love it and am on stock rooted rom. However this is really starting to piss me off. My SD card has worked fine in my past 2 phones and is a Sandisk 64gb Ultra. Now in this phone it works fine half the time and the other half gives me tons of issues. Ill be listening to music and all of a sudden it will pop this message, sometimes it remounts it and sometimes it wont and i have to either try restarting it and hope that solves the issue or if it pops the message again i have to pull the back cover off and reinsert it? Whats going on is this my phones fault, cards fault, or androids fault or what? Right now it is formatted in Fat32, maybe i should try another like exFat?? Also it works great in my computer and gives no errors when scanned using the built in error scan/repair.
I have this issue I have had 2 SD cards both give errors one now is dead when put in phone even after a format but PC so reads it OK.
I have found that when phone gets really really hot after watching video or playing game a long time this is when I get the errors.
My other phones used to get hot but never have this problem.. Think Sp is a little fragile and throws a wobbly ever so often

Maybe there is a way to make the connection more secure like wedging something between the slot and the card to make it tighter?

This is a strange one. I bought one of these a few weeks back:
http://www.amazon.com/Silicon-Power...&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
It's been working fine for me. Yesterday, my tablet just hung. Like I could barely click on anything, and then when I could, it only seemed to last for a few seconds, and right back to totally hung. I had to force reboot my tablet, but it was not very long upon reboot that the same thing started.
I turned to google for advice, and one site recommended un-mounting my sd card. Well. yeah, doing that seems to have resolved the problem. It has been running completely fine ever since.
My question: Does this mean I have a bad SDcard, or is the problem with the tablet? Is there a way to know. I don't have the same problem when I plug this sd card into my windows computer.

Highly likely the sd card.
I bought one of those also and had the same problem. I returned it to Amazon for a refund.
Stick to decent cards like Samsung Evo.
Use cards which are U3 rated for fast writing.
