Mine does. Then again, one should ask why an owner would let the phone get to critical in the first place.

Is the alarm clock in the N1 reliable?

My old phone (Windows Mobile) had an alarm clock that was junk and sometimes would not ring at all (found out the hard way). Is the alarm clock in the nexus one reliable or did it ever fail to ring for you?
Thanks.
I use it every day as my only alarm, and it hasn't failed me yet.

lol its way realiable.. i use it for work and have not miss work yet...lol so yes it is...
Ditto to what everyone else is saying pretty much. Only alarm, works like a charm.
I use it as my work alarm and it hasn't failed me yet.
This is not WM It's Android and the Alarm clock is very on target!
Thanks guys, I guess I won't have to carry a dedicated alarm clock when I travel anymore.
I'm not sure if it's still a problem, but if you have an alarm set up and your phone reboots and/or turns off, your alarm will no longer be set.
I use it every morning for work and it has worked every time. My winmo alarm failed quite a few times so I always had an alarm clock as Backup. I no longer use the alarm clock and just stick with the n1 by my bedside. And if you leave the clock app opened and long press the screen brightness icon it puts the app in night mode with a black screen and green time info. The only downside to that is that it keeps your button touch buttons lit up white.

Weird, I just set the alarm, turned off the phone, and it still didn't work for me.
You're using the stock alarm?
My alarm survives reboots as well. Stock Clock App. Perhaps you Clock app is not booting on startup or is being auto-killed if you're using a task killer app?
Unlike most Nokias, the phone won't turn back on to wake you up... All Nokias, dumb or smart, do that IIRC.
The best alarm on a phone I had. It has never failed me yet.

Woops, I didn't clarify. The alarm survives reboots, it's just that it won't go off if your phone is shut down.
Do all of yours work when the phone is shut down?

Yes the lack of this feature sucks but I personally never have my phone off overnight. Im sure this isn't uncommon, but for me its because its my only phone. In emergencies I need to be available. Maybe other people turn their phones off to charge overnight, but I doubt that its common.
I doubt it will work.

[Q] Alarm not working

I have SGS - official f/w 2.1 via KIES.
In UK on an unlocked phone, with Vodafone SIM.
Set alarm (standard clock) ... and it does not work if phone switched off ! .... i.e works OK if phone is switched on ... but not if phone is off, which is normally how I would leave phone overnight.
I amazed, my 14 yr old Nokia does this no problem ! ..... I googled around and on some other Samsung phones you can fix it under profiles ... but can't find a solution for SGS .
This seems a significant bug, or at least an oversight - can't belive anyone would design it to work like this on purpose.
Any work around ?
Even with my SGS turned on, 4 times out of 5 the alarms do not go off. I think the alarms have a bug.
Probably you have a task killer ending the alarm.
the phone must be on for the alarm to function .
the alarm cant switch on the galaxy s , says it in the manual

[Q] First major disappointment with Android/Samsung GN3

I had the minor annoyances like others, but this morning my alarm did not go off and I was late for work.
When I unlocked the lock screen, there was a message along the lines of "Clock stopped responding...".
How the $%&# does the alarm clock on a smart phone just freeze up?
IOS had the summer-time shift screw-ups but this kind of error is very disappointing.
I will now set up a back-up alarm as I cannot trust the GN3 any more with the alarm.
Anyone else has seen this?
nope, never.
No problems with my alarm

I use one of the many alarm clock apps on Google Play that require me to answer a question before I'm allowed to turn off the alarm. But I've never has the stock alarm clock crash on any Android device I've ever used.

I use the stock alarm on an unrooted N3 and I've never had this problem.
However, if I need to wake up for anything important, I would never trust just one alarm device of any sort.
I've never had an alarm fail on either of my android devices (excepting cases of user error).
I've had the phone entirely decide to turn itself off while charging once (with my note 3), but it's only happened once, and I can't be sure that there isn't a mundane explanation for this. Failure rate for me is much lower than with my old alarm.
I've had this happen. Also having other issues with GPS, Bootup (rebooting twice sometimes) Lags, and freezes a lot.
I have started all over twice (Factory restore / Kies and others) I have rooted, unrooted and gone back to stock still having the same issues.
The biggest thing for me is the loss of GPS signal. I can't take it anymore. $399.00 for the phone. $299.00 for the watch, and we have these problems. SO, I called At&t today (Been with them for 18 years) and let them have a piece of my mind. Long story short, I have a replacement coming to my job tomorrow. Get this, you wont be receiving a brand new Note 3. They are refurbished certified At&t devices. You keep your battery and back cover, pen, cables, basically anything I can take off the phone, I need to keep. I went ahead and said yes. DO IT.
I will report back if the replacement has this Alarm issue along with all my others (GPS BIG ISSUE)......Maybe there are bad batches from production floating around. I had one of them????? We shall see tomorrow.

I thought that at first to. Before I rooted it.
Fed Ex will be here soon and I will have another one (Factory fixed and hardware/radios replaced)
Its a production issue I heard. I'm not the only one going through this.
Rooted or Non-Rooted doesn't madder. And I don't do a lot of mods or tweaking.
I have been doing this for years. There really is a bad batch of Note 3's out there and I wont have one in a couple of hours.
Their giving me 10 days to send it back. I can't wait to get what I paid for. A working GPS, better reception, new modem and more.

Okay.....This replacement phone freaking fly's guy's. No kidding, I see a huge difference in everything I do. Now I know why people love this phone.
I honestly had a defective device. Now its time to check the GPS out....
Another thing I noticed was the version numbers when taking the back cover off. The bad one had Ver 2 - 2 everything.
This replacement had Ver 1 - 1 with the radio Ver 4 - 4.... I think this is one of the first Note 3's made with the latest radio and other pieces installed. Its freaking fast fellas. I'm not rooting or doing anything to this thing.
Where are you seeing these version numbers at? I didn't see any. Looked under battery too. Did see that my phone was made in Korea.

Thanks, I've been trying to dig on this one, me and my wife gave the same phones mines rooted and gets is bone stock, we've both gotthis issue, how's battery with that app....
From what I've been reading this is a common HTC issue it seems....but doesn't effect all....I dunno what to do any more
I use the stock alarm 5 days a week and have never had a time it didn't go off. Granted, sometimes I wake up before it has the chance to go off.

battery life doesn't appear to be any different using the alarm clock xtreme. I'm not sure if it's a common issue because I tested the stock alarm clock and it works fine for me as well. I set it to go off 2 mins after my main alarm clock to test.
What I like about xtreme is it has a large snooze button, so I don't mistakenly hit the dismiss button lol and you can set it to snooze if you shake the phone.
Strongly recommend Alarm Klock
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.angrydoughnuts.android.alarmclock
It has repeating alarms and can turn the volume up when the alarm goes off (just in case you silenced your phone).
And it is free (without ads too)!

You have to make sure to select the days(s) you want it to repeat. The original default alarm presets only have M-F selected and ignore the weekends.
Another thing I see people forgetting is to remember to select AM or PM correctly.

[Q] No alarm clock in the morning

Hey Guys,
strange problem:
I use "Gentle Alarm" as my daily alarm clock.
Usually I'm loading my phone during night and there is no problem.
But on sunday I didn't charge the phone (as I had enough power left) and in the morning the alarm clock DIDN'T work.
Anyone here who've noticed this, too?
Best regards,
Daniel

Yes. I experienced this with AlarmDroid the other day.
I _think_ it's related to Stamina mode - the app is probably idled so much it cannot wake up the phone.
I disabled Stamina and it worked (coincidence, I don't know), but adding it to the list of apps in the Stamina dialog (under settings) should do the trick, as well (again: I guess).
Let us hear how it works out - missing an alarm is no good!
Yeah would also guess it's stamia. I always put the alarm app in the list of apps to ignore stamia.
Ha - adding it in the Stamina list did the trick!!!
Thanks guys!!!

Indeed it's crucial!
Another thing I noted with Gentle Alarm and the Z3 Compact is that the volume is rather low.
When I do the Colue Calibration, the first low sound is almost inaudible, even at MAX settings.
This also means the alarm starts way too low, never happened on other devices.
