I am experiencing some unusual Gmail issues the past week...
The problems have been seen running CM6 RC3 as well as FRF91 STOCK. I've also tried both the latest "official" radio as well as the Korean radio.
Gmail delivers to the phone without issues, but after marking emails read, Gmail on any PC I've used does not show those emails as read.
Also, any reply or new email that I send sits stuck in the outbox. Checking on the PC does not show that the message sent.
The phone has plenty of available memory. It has been rebooted time and time again. Caches have been cleared out.
Any ideas as to what the issue might be and how I can remedy? Needless to say, this is rather upsetting, not to mention is defeating one of the purposes that I got the phone for.
Any feedback is appreciated!

Thanks, I'll give that a whirl!

So i was just introduced to this program the other day. It works great, i get my e-mails on my phone just a few seconds later. It doesn't seem to lower my battery life much at all, and it was very easy to setup.
http://community.seven.com/main.php
register and download the beta. I've been using this for about 3 days and i've gotten about 50 e-mails through this service and i always check the times and it's never more than a minute later.
I would like to get a consensus about how well this works for others. I'm using Gmail and it forwards very fast.
UPDATE: Just wanted to add, do not install this if you have XpressMail installed on your device as they use some of the same files they both will become unusable.
before i try
how does it work?
is it constantly connected to data? or does it send as a text or what?
i knew i forgot something, i've got my Touch pro on a constant Edge connection with constant data enabled. I'm not 100% positive the data connection is needed but i think you do. Other Idle Imap apps, i've tried needed constant connection.
I've been using this for a while now and it does require a constant connection, but it is a lot less power hungry than other push solutions or even the native POP / IMAP connections. Seven basically creates e-mail accounts within the native messaging application, so there's no need to have an additional application. It allows you to setup multiple e-mail accounts to be pushed, including Google Apps.
And for those of us that change roms regularly, Seven saves your account information (sans passwords) so that you don't have to start from scratch everytime you flash a new rom.
One thing to note is that Seven is essentially in permanent beta, so there will be times when it goes down for upgrades, maintenance or bugs. But that doesn't happen very often and they are usually pretty good about communicating what is going on and when to expect a solution.
Been using this for a year and it's the best! Woohoo! I love this!
I tried emoze, pushconsilient, and web2mail. I like "SEVEN" out of all of them. I get my email on my phone before my outlook does on my pc.
Thanks!!
It's really COOL and i can now check the gmail and even the company mail (OWA)!
Very nice!!
does it do "better"then Emoze?
I use Emoze now for a year and i have no problem.
Does it use less more power?
i've just tested, but i like Emoze more then Seven.
Emoze connects een fast as seven, but now i get also mine appointpents ect. synced.
So i keep it with emoze.
Seven is the dev company that supplies AT&T with Good Mobile Messaging and such. They sell the product (serverside) to the Cell carriers, who inturn rebrand it and "sell/offer" the service to the carrier's susbcribers.
I have been using it for 3 years for multiple accounts... no more desktop redirectors.
It currently uses a data connection, but in the future it will work via SMS triggers
gr8 share thank you
A few days ago, I started using it for both my Gmail and my company mail (via OWA).
At first, it took a few minutes for new mail to show up in either. Now, I'm finding that new messages in my gmail are showing up almost instantly (under a minute at least), but work messages are taking between 5-15 minutes (I can confirm via the desktop that they are indeed in the inbox).
Anyone else see this sort of delay?
is this based on Exchange 2007 aka HTML emails? Doesn't seem to let me into the FAQ's before creating an account...
I use this service and i love it.
i'm glad to see so many people who support and use this App, and those of you who don't use it i recommend it.
I tried it for 2 days, I love it... However, since it used data constantsly, it heats up my device badly... so I uninstalled it.
Thanks for the share thou.
goes this get around the gmail issue where sent messages also appear as new unread emails?

Seven does not have this problem. Additionally, the sent messages get saved in your sent folder on gmail.

Do you keep HSDPA going? I keep it on an EDGE connection and i don't get much heat at all.
It's a shakey time for anyone who sees this thread to try it out, though. They did some sort of heavy maintenance Monday, and although their status updates say everything's back, I'm not sure it is. I'm seeing big delays in getting my gmail via imap through them. I suspect it will be worked out soon, though.
I'm having problems sending messages in my gmail. I have no problem reviving but when I try to send my messages r stuck in the out box no matter how many times I refresh my gmail. I was wondering if anyone ran into this problem and found a solution. I would like to fix this without a wipe and reflash.

Tried rebooting? How about wifi?
Yup tried revolting any I get the same problem whit or without WiFi.
Did you find a solution? I realised this morning, that I can't send mails through Gmail from my G1 anymore. Already tried rebooting, but that didn't solve it. I got no wifi at hand, but will test this evening and post my findings then.
Don't mind it. Just found a solution myself. Just cleared Gmail Apps' data and everything is back to normal. Perhaps that will work for you too, if you did not find a solution yet.
Yep,
I had a problem with sending and updating what was new and was unread on the website. Clearing the gmail storage and the other gmail email cache fixed it right up.
Clearing the gmail storage/data worked for me as well but the solution only worked for a day and then I had to do it again. I will have to see how long it lasts this time around. Does anyone know the reason why this is occurring? While the above is technically a solution, it appears to only be a quick fix. If we can figure out what is causing the problem then it won't happen again.
I can tell you that it happened to me for the first time when I upgraded from Cyanogen 3.6.8.1 to 3.9.8. I downgraded and still had the problem and that's when I cleared the storage. I really don't think it had anything to do with the upgrade/downgrade especially since I used a Nandroid restore which put a stable version back on my phone.
Just my 2 cents.
Well, somewhere I read that this happened to someone after updating / installating an app using the send intent. I am not sure whether it was at that time I updated Bluex, but it may be.
I dwnloaded bluex a lil ago maybe that might be it I'm going to unistall and see
Maybe, but I have to say that I only had those problems once and they did not reoccur for me.
Also I did not have that problem when running the official ROM. But I only had Bluex for a short while on the official, because receiving files made me root my phone.
Any updates on this issue? I don't have Bluex, fyi. However, I occasionally have this problem, and only clearing the Gmail storage fixes it... for a short time anyway. It's very frustrating, considering this is a Google phone and that's my primary email. I need to be able to send my emails quickly without having to constantly clear the storage...especially since I have 75+ mb free on the device and hundreds of mb free on my ext3 partition. As best as I can tell, this also affects synchronizing with Google's servers (obviously)... so if I delete an email on my phone or pc, it doesn't show that change on the other device.
Ok, I've mentioned this in the main damage thread, but it moves along too fast and gets lost among the shuffle and I don't want to clutter it anymore.
I, and I've noticed at least two other people, have not been able to send out emails since trying the OC kernel on dc 2.08.
The OC never worked well on my hero to begin with (guess I'm one of the people unlucky enough to have a processor that works just where it needs to and no more), so the first thing I did was a nandroid back to plain 2.08. But I still had the no email problem.
I've since then tried flashing a boot image provided by another user with no luck (but doing that does break wifi), flashing 2.08 over itself, upgrading to what turned out to be the broken 2.09, then downgrading back to 2.08, then reflashing over itself again, and earlier nandroids.
All that has still left me unable to send out emails. Or any data through email, such as when I delete an email on my phone hours later it will still show up when I log into gmail on my computer.
I've been on the phone with sprint and their advanced techs. Their guess is that somehow my email clients started using a blocked port to try and send out email info. The only way they know of to fix is to erase the account and start a new one. with gmail the only way to do that is to hard reset. So I made a nandroid, did a factory wipe, and tried that. When trying to create a new account I get the message that the mobile network is not available and to try using wifi instead. (This leads me to believe that the blocked port theory is probably correct)
So... how do I get my email accounts using a different not blocked port?
MOD EDIT - Moved to Q&A as not development related
Clearing data and cache in gmail and gmail storage under manage applications seems to have cleared this up. At the least, temporarily.
I was trying to refresh my facebook widget and it said to log in. I tried and it said "Facebook account is already added in account manager." So I went to contacts>menu>more>Accounts and turned sync Contacts off and back on for my facebook accout and got "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." I think this may be an AT&T issue, just wanted to ask if anyone else is having this problem.
I am stock. Everything up to date.
I'm having the same problem with Facebook and Twitter. I can't login to either of them and it's really annoying. I don't know what to do.
I think it is at&t. Could be getting ready for an update? I dont think so, but never know.

i am facing this issue for past one month when i try to sync my facebook contacts using social hub. The thing its only problem with one of my account. My other account is sying properly. I tried every known setting but still no success. i can find any option in facebook that enables or disable this thing. Any help please
Was having some issues with Facebook today. Not on At&t here.
This is a FB server issue, not the phone or AT$T. It happened about a month ago and took several days to clear up.
Miami is correct Facebook has had several issues in the past few months. The other thing that i have noticed that can cause this is if you suddenly lose service or try to switch from 3g to wifi.

I ran into a similar problem when I tried to disable Facebook, Twitter and Flicker on my IncS. It appears to happen when the database on the phone gets into a "bad" state and then it can't manage to sync--but will keep trying (and my phone did so constantly, draining the battery extremely quickly).
The fix in my case was to go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Contacts Storage and then hitting the "Clear Data" button.
Be sure to have a backup of your contacts on the phone e.g. with Titanium Backup.
Hey guys,
I'm on a stock rom, unrooted and i'm having this really annoying problem with the stock mail app.
When certain mails come in and i try to open them, all that shows is "Loading mail..." and it never loads, no matter whether I'm on LTE, 3G or wifi.
This problem is intermittent and happens to about 20% of my mails for this account. I'm using IMAP on a 1and1 server... I've double and triple checked the settings and its all correct. So i'm not sure what on earth is causing the problem.
I have another IMAP account on my HTC One, and that one works fine. So I'm guessing its something to do with 1and1 and HTC's mail app.
I remember I had this problem on my butterfly as well.. although I sold that phone off pretty quick..
some one please help me!
thanks in advance!
I had also problems with the app (alltough other problems). I went to Apps->Mail and deleted all data, after that it worked.
Maybe this solves your Problem too
