Hello
I wanted to get my PRI updated to the latest version, so I installed the .5 RUU over my custom ROM install on my hero. The RUU installed fine and it updated my PRI to the latest version, and I went ahead and updated my PRL also.
I run through the setup and it connects to my Google account, but after a few minutes it won't connect to the internet anymore. When I go to the market it just sits there "downloading" but never does anything. My Google talk won't connect either. I can open a web browser and surf though. Also, if I connect USB to my PC, then my Hero WILL connect and work as it is supposed to. I have tried updating my profile and PRL again. I also flashed the latest CM6 which does the same thing, as does ZenHero. I can't figure it out! Thanks for any ideas.
EDIT: I flashed the RUU back and it still is messed up. I also did a master reset and the PRI changed back to 1_6 something and I have better connectivity but it still cuts out. I guess I'm hosed.

Yes, you can't update using the settings menu on an AOSP ROM, as far as I know. You need to flash to a ROM based on the Sprint leak, update and then re-flash if you so choose. I'm running DamageControl 2.09.1, so it let me update through the menu.
can someone upload the 60667.prl (file) for manual installation? I am unable to download regardless of rom.
same here, I get an error while doing my PRL update, Im using Fresh's latest release (Fresh Rom 2.3.3) and i get an error message of
"PRL could not be updated, Please try again later. If the problem persists, you maybe need to contact Customer service. Error code:1012"
I dont mind installing it manually as i learned how to last night and really F'uped my phone but i fixed it and now I have PRL 60664 but i would like 60667.
If you could post the file or guide me to fix the update PRL automaticly
i literally just did it with freshs newest and it worked fine, 60667
If you are consistently unable to update your PRL regardless of the ROM you are using, the problem likely lies within your account information at Sprint. They need to remove and re-add your phone to your account.
You can try to do this manually by activating another phone on your account (e.g., your old Sprint phone, whatever it may be), waiting 15-20 minutes, then re-activating your Hero.
Been there, done that. My PRL updates work now.

I followed this and was able to update when I was getting the above error. This was on Fresh 2.1.2 so I'm not sure if it works with the latest.
Can't post links... Its in the Fresh 2.3.3 ROM thread, post #1100.

I appreciate the tip but I would rather just ##775# and manually update if someone can upload the 60667.prl file.
I got the 60667.prl file from here: @ppcgeeks.
worked on my hero

Blah, I grabbed the 60667.zip file and did the manual install, and I was roaming. So, I did a search for 60665.prl (which I had before), when I came on this thread.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691234&highlight=60665+prl&page=4 So, I noticed the 40060.prl that works with verizon, but does not cause roaming. I figured I'd try it out, and sure enough, no roaming. I have an Airave unit set up in my house, and now part of me wants to kick myself in the teeth because I could have used this all a long. Oh well. I'll see how it works when I go out West in a few weeks
Mod. edit: not dev related, moved to q&a
EVDO on 60667 prl?
I updated my phone to the 60667 PRL via the 'Update PRL' function in Settings->About Phone->System Updates last night.
I use an Airave at home (my house is in a ridiculous dead spot smack in the middle of a 5-bar coverage area), so I couldn't tell if it made any difference there.
My drive to work I streamed Pandora for about 20 minutes without a problem on EVDO
Now that I'm here, however, I can't seem to get a stable EVDO signal - my phone is stuck in 1x mode for the first time since I've owned it.. I usually have great signal here.
Anyone else experiencing EVDO signal issues on this PRL?
So I bought a Nexus One on craigslist. I thought it was all stock until I ran into the "cannot establish reliable sever connection" when I tried to sign into my google account. My question is how do I restore my phone back to the newest version of android 2.2. It is not unlocked (no unlocked padlock on boot screen). Under "Build number" it says "passion-userdebug Froyo FRE74 28579 test-keys." Under Android version it says "Froyo" instead of 2.2. And many of the 2.2 features are not present such as wifi tethering, and the new icons at the bottom center of the home screen aren't there. I only have the single grid icon and not the set of 3 with the browser and phone. And i'm not sure where to go from here. I want to be able to log into my gmail account and the android marketplace. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Assuming you verified you have Data Connection enabled and have the proper APN settings::::
Your seller may have rooted the phone without necessarily unlocking the bootloader. see
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=710842
Also, the link I just added shows the different versions of 2.2 (missing a couple) but FRE74 doesn't look like one of them.
First find out if it is a rooted phone, Check the app drawer for any SuperUser or Spareparts icon. That or try installing Busybox from the marketplace and executing it.
If it is rooted, flash one of the many ROMS available on XDA, Cyanogen just released his beta version tonight. Personally I use Enomther Rom. Official version is out.
And BTW, read up on the process of flashing... most require you to wipe first.
and if it is not rooted....
All you need to do is do a Factory Reset
Settings / Privacy / Factory Data Reset
After that check what your Build number is.
Then you can go to your dialler and enter
*#*#checkin#*#*
What that will do is connect your phone to the Google servers, say hello, and the server will send the update to your phone. (Force OTA - Over The Air update)
My data connection is working, I browse the internet fine except for the youtube app and gmail.com. When I go to gmail.com through my browser I get "a secure data connection could not be established." But yahoomail and flickr logins work fine on both wifi and 3g. No superuser or spareparts icons in the drawer. I can't access the android marketplace since I cannot log into my google account. I did the factory restore and the build number is the same. I did the checkin from my dialer and it said "checkin failed"
So it seems like the phone is rooted but I just need to flash a rom with the froyo features I want. Any links or guides to doing this? I read and superboot seemed like the easiest way.
Sounds to me like an issue with radio... flash a new radio might do the trick. However, before I start messing around with the radio not knowing anything about my phone, I'd look into doing this first.

This will bring your Nexus One back to it's original shipping rom. It's gonna be alot of work, BUT this IS almost a $600 phone.
So I followed those directions and i'm back on android 2.1 and i can log into my google and everything seems to work fine. I want to update to 2.2 so I go to system updates, download the update, and install. But during the install process it shows the little box with the android and the loading bar but it stops and goes to the android and the exclamation point. I'm not sure what to do from here. My Build Number is ERD79
Hold Volume up and press Power (or possibly the other way around). That should bring up the recovery menu.
I tried once with the OTA update I downloaded, the phone restarted and tried to install by itself but went to the android with the !. So I download a froyo rom and rename it update.zip, not .zip.zip. And put it on my phone, I'm in the blue recovery screen and it says signature error. I'm thinking its the wrong rom i'm using.
Installed cyanogen 6.1 on a G1 I just acquired at no cost but now can't setup my "google account" errors out about not being able to find reliable data network.
Initially I had wiped the phone with the stock ROM and was able to do the initial sign-up of the google account and tested the android market without much of a problem.
After alot of reading, root and learning about Android via a crash course. I was able to sucessfully install cyanogen 6.1 but now I can't setup the phone.
I thought that my trial and error method of getting things working may have caused the problem so I did a complete wipe and started from scratch (minus the error) once more to make sure everything was good. But still no go on setting the google account.
Yes, I do have a dataplan as I was using an HTC TouchPro2 before this.
Any ideas?
SPL: HDBOOT - 1.33.0013d
Radio: 2.22.28.25
ROM: update-cm-6.1.0-DS-2708port_S, gapps-mdpi-tiny20101020-signed.
At the Google Sign-in screen, hit menu, APN, enter your APN.
There should be a skip option on CM anyway.
APN looks correct. I'm able to skip the sign-up but I can't access anything that requires net access. No android market; no browser...nothing.
Did you flash gapps after flashing the rom? Not all roms come pre-installed with gapps.
Sent from my HTC Dream using XDA App
Yes, I installed gapps-mdpi-tiny20101020-signed
dump a logcat using adb during boot process perhaps?
or try checking the SIM with another phone. similar thing happened to me once-upon-a-time, and apparently it was the SIM and not the phone *doh*
I had the same problem but when i reboot the phone the problem is solved for some time ( 1 a 2 hours) so i have to reboot my phone a lot.
im having the same problem with cm6. i have tried going to biffmod and get the same problem and data is turmed on.
Yep, tried another mod same issue; also went as far as to unroot it and problem still exists.
Does anyone know if the Radio firmware could be the potential culprit?
SIM card works fine on my HTC TouchPro2...running android
Try a diff radio perhaps, not sure if thats the issue.
It has got to be the APN... Do you get a G/E/3G icon?
Just wanted to updated that I have now been able to successfully get CM 6.1.0 working on the G1. Seems that it all came together once I received my G2 and my data plan was changed.
Yay!!
Got a HTC Dev edition on release. First thing I did was flash CWM recovery with fastboot and rooted.
Everything has been working great until yesterday. I went to test the wifi tether as I am out of town this weekend and need to tether my tablet and laptop to my phone. Ever since, however, I have been unable to access any google services from the phone via wifi or data network. Everything else connects and works fine and I can even tether and use the internet just fine. However the wifi tether options were all grayed out.
So I backed everything up and tried to flash the stock RUU downloaded from HTCdev. Fails with Error 155. I tried flashing stock recovery. RUU still gets error 155. So I did a factory reset from the bootloader and still I am unable to connect to google services. Since its factory fresh I have to add my account but when I try to do so I get the following error "couldn't sign in - Can't establish a reliable connection to the server. This could be a temporary problem or your Android device may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues, call Customer Care." But my data connection is working fine and I can use gmail from a web browser no problem.
I checked the hosts file and its fine (no hard coded ip for google stuff) and I am at a loss of what to do to fix this now. Since factory reset the wifi tether options are all there but my google servies still will not work.
Ok I locked the bootloader then ran the RUU again. Part way through it screwed up gave error 155 again and then all I had was a black screen with !points in triangles in the corner. Restarted the RUU and my phone. Went through the process again and then in completed sucessfully.
So now back into my phone and still I can not connect to google services. gives same "can't establish a reliable data connection to the server" error.
I am at a loss.
Similar Problem
I've got a similar problem.
I was attempting to root my phone, so I unlocked the bootloader and rooted it, with unlocked and tampered now showing up on the bootloader screen. However when i went to restore my settings by signing into google play and dropbox I get the same message, that I cannot connect to the severs. However this only exists in google apps and dropbox as facebook works fine as does the browser!
At a complete loss with this, any help would be much appreciated also!!!!
I've made a bit of progress. If I limit my phone to wcdma then I can get it to work periodically. But it will still give me no connection every now and then. If I play with mobile setting's sui that it disconnects and connects a few times it will start working again for a bit.
I'm starting to wonder if this is an google issue.
A few days ago I got a notification saying there was a software update for my T-Mobile HTC One but couldn't download it because there was no WiFi available at the time. So when I got to work I ran the update and it installed fine. Then after the update completed I noticed I was not getting and WiFi connectivity. It was showing that I was connected to the network but there was no internet. So I backed everything up and did a factory reset thinking maybe that would fix the issue. When it rebooted and I tried typing in the wireless password it kept failing and turning the WiFi on and off sporadically.
So when I got home that night I unlocked and rooted my phone and installed TWRP. I flashed Bulletproof Kernel since the T-Mobile Kernel is write protected from what I have read. I created a backup I could flash to in case something went wrong and had to go back to stock ROM. I tried flashing with the newest Android Revolution and Viper ROMs but both got an error saying it couldn't open the .zip file. I eventually got InsertCoin to flash but now the WiFi won't turn on at all. I then restored using the backup I had just made and had the same issue from before I did the factory reset. WiFi sporadically turning on and off and couldn't connect to any network.
Any ideas what the problem could be?
