Installed cyanogen 6.1 on a G1 I just acquired at no cost but now can't setup my "google account" errors out about not being able to find reliable data network.
Initially I had wiped the phone with the stock ROM and was able to do the initial sign-up of the google account and tested the android market without much of a problem.
After alot of reading, root and learning about Android via a crash course. I was able to sucessfully install cyanogen 6.1 but now I can't setup the phone.
I thought that my trial and error method of getting things working may have caused the problem so I did a complete wipe and started from scratch (minus the error) once more to make sure everything was good. But still no go on setting the google account.
Yes, I do have a dataplan as I was using an HTC TouchPro2 before this.
Any ideas?
SPL: HDBOOT - 1.33.0013d
Radio: 2.22.28.25
ROM: update-cm-6.1.0-DS-2708port_S, gapps-mdpi-tiny20101020-signed.
At the Google Sign-in screen, hit menu, APN, enter your APN.
There should be a skip option on CM anyway.
APN looks correct. I'm able to skip the sign-up but I can't access anything that requires net access. No android market; no browser...nothing.
Did you flash gapps after flashing the rom? Not all roms come pre-installed with gapps.

Yes, I installed gapps-mdpi-tiny20101020-signed
dump a logcat using adb during boot process perhaps?
or try checking the SIM with another phone. similar thing happened to me once-upon-a-time, and apparently it was the SIM and not the phone *doh*
I had the same problem but when i reboot the phone the problem is solved for some time ( 1 a 2 hours) so i have to reboot my phone a lot.
im having the same problem with cm6. i have tried going to biffmod and get the same problem and data is turmed on.
Yep, tried another mod same issue; also went as far as to unroot it and problem still exists.
Does anyone know if the Radio firmware could be the potential culprit?
SIM card works fine on my HTC TouchPro2...running android
Try a diff radio perhaps, not sure if thats the issue.
It has got to be the APN... Do you get a G/E/3G icon?
Just wanted to updated that I have now been able to successfully get CM 6.1.0 working on the G1. Seems that it all came together once I received my G2 and my data plan was changed.
Yay!!

So I bought a Nexus One on craigslist. I thought it was all stock until I ran into the "cannot establish reliable sever connection" when I tried to sign into my google account. My question is how do I restore my phone back to the newest version of android 2.2. It is not unlocked (no unlocked padlock on boot screen). Under "Build number" it says "passion-userdebug Froyo FRE74 28579 test-keys." Under Android version it says "Froyo" instead of 2.2. And many of the 2.2 features are not present such as wifi tethering, and the new icons at the bottom center of the home screen aren't there. I only have the single grid icon and not the set of 3 with the browser and phone. And i'm not sure where to go from here. I want to be able to log into my gmail account and the android marketplace. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Assuming you verified you have Data Connection enabled and have the proper APN settings::::
Your seller may have rooted the phone without necessarily unlocking the bootloader. see
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=710842
Also, the link I just added shows the different versions of 2.2 (missing a couple) but FRE74 doesn't look like one of them.
First find out if it is a rooted phone, Check the app drawer for any SuperUser or Spareparts icon. That or try installing Busybox from the marketplace and executing it.
If it is rooted, flash one of the many ROMS available on XDA, Cyanogen just released his beta version tonight. Personally I use Enomther Rom. Official version is out.
And BTW, read up on the process of flashing... most require you to wipe first.
and if it is not rooted....
All you need to do is do a Factory Reset
Settings / Privacy / Factory Data Reset
After that check what your Build number is.
Then you can go to your dialler and enter
*#*#checkin#*#*
What that will do is connect your phone to the Google servers, say hello, and the server will send the update to your phone. (Force OTA - Over The Air update)
My data connection is working, I browse the internet fine except for the youtube app and gmail.com. When I go to gmail.com through my browser I get "a secure data connection could not be established." But yahoomail and flickr logins work fine on both wifi and 3g. No superuser or spareparts icons in the drawer. I can't access the android marketplace since I cannot log into my google account. I did the factory restore and the build number is the same. I did the checkin from my dialer and it said "checkin failed"
So it seems like the phone is rooted but I just need to flash a rom with the froyo features I want. Any links or guides to doing this? I read and superboot seemed like the easiest way.
Sounds to me like an issue with radio... flash a new radio might do the trick. However, before I start messing around with the radio not knowing anything about my phone, I'd look into doing this first.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=614850
This will bring your Nexus One back to it's original shipping rom. It's gonna be alot of work, BUT this IS almost a $600 phone.
So I followed those directions and i'm back on android 2.1 and i can log into my google and everything seems to work fine. I want to update to 2.2 so I go to system updates, download the update, and install. But during the install process it shows the little box with the android and the loading bar but it stops and goes to the android and the exclamation point. I'm not sure what to do from here. My Build Number is ERD79
Hold Volume up and press Power (or possibly the other way around). That should bring up the recovery menu.
I tried once with the OTA update I downloaded, the phone restarted and tried to install by itself but went to the android with the !. So I download a froyo rom and rename it update.zip, not .zip.zip. And put it on my phone, I'm in the blue recovery screen and it says signature error. I'm thinking its the wrong rom i'm using.
So I finally took the plunge today and rooted. I flashed the most recent Sprint version of ViperROM, and everything was going just fine and dandy, I was all giddy setting up my MoDaCo UI mods, etc, until I tried to send a text. Tried to send for 5 minutes, got the fail message. Well, that's weird. What about 3G data? Nope, nothing. Maybe the ROM is bad? I flashed the stock ROM by viperboy, also didn't work. Same problems. So now I'm stuck with no cellular connection and I need it soon. How do I fix it? (Note that I followed my tutorials step by step and everything works except cellular connection. Also note that it says I have service and that data is going in/out, but it's not actually sending/receiving anything. It seems that I need something called an RUU, but I have no idea what that is or where to get a correct one and how to flash it.
Please give me a step by step (I'm using TWRP if that matters), as this is my first time rooting or doing anything more advanced with my phone past advanced themes in Nova Launcher. I'll need links if you have them, or at least where to look. Please help me, because don't want to go back to stock after getting all my awesome tweaks already!
And yes, I have updated my PLR and Profile in the system updates menu, same results.
EDIT: I fixed it, yay! I tried clicking UICC unlock in the software update menu. It said no profile update available, and then it started working (it's actually faster than normal! ) It may have been the profile update that did it and it took a second to update, but it works now! Yay! I even rebooted to make sure it was going to stay after a shutdown, etc, and it did! I guess I should check all option before posting a thread next time... (If you can't tell I'm extremely happy it works!)
EDIT 2: It stopped working again :'(. Now I'm constantly losing the 3G connection that I "had" and messages and data only work about 10% of the time they say they're connected. Wifi still works. When I try updating the profile, it says it could not be updated and to try again later (this is after several tries and a reboot). I try to update the PLR and I get error code 1233. Apprently this is an HTC specific error with no know fix? I try to do the UICC unlock, and it gives me the same error as the profile message.
EDIT 3: It seems Sprint is having issues in my area, I will update again if they resolve it or reply to my tweet.
EDIT 4: They told me to go restart the booster thingy I have in my house, and now my connection is working for now...
I'm having an issue with my HTC One. I had been on Paranoid Android, working fine for several weeks (so I didn't flash the wrong version for my Sprint hardware). Last week, I was suddenly showing roaming, with an empty triangle for the signal bars. I tried messing with the RUM/SIM/NV settings, but it didn't resolve the issue. I ended up reflashing back to stock 1.29 via the RUU, but still showed an 'x' next to my signal bars. I then let it update to 1.31 (damn...) but that didn't solve the issue either. If I go into the Network info under About phone, I show 0 signal strength if LTE is disabled. If I enable LTE, then I get signal, and data. Only CDMA is not working.
If I go into the MSL menu (##<MSL>#), it shows 'No' for both MDN and MSID. If I try to enter them, I get a message "Commit Failed" when I try to save them.
Support at the Sprint store wouldn't even look at it because the bootloader was unlocked.
Has anyone had issues with the CDMA radio failing? Anything else to try?

I would take it back to another Sprint store. They are suppose to take your phone and run the RUU. There was a posting from a Sprint employee a few weeks back with the internal company policy - which was to do a reset or run the RUU to put the phone back to stock to determine if it is a software or hardware issue. If hardware issue, Sprint is suppose to then replace the phone.
All androir 4.3 based rom have some data or signal issues with cdma ... I just go back to 4.2, everything is fine. If you have a signal issue with stock rom you should ask for a hardware replacement.

I've never had a 4.3 ROM on this phone. Was on a 4.2 AOSP ROM, and now I'm back on HTC One 1.29 (after upgrading to 1.31, and then RUU'ing back to 1.29 again). No CDMA reception on anything. I'll try another Sprint store. The guy at the one I went to was pretty pompous. He asked if the phone had been rooted. I figured honesty would be best, since he would know that the bootloader had been unlocked as soon as he went into HBoot.

Try changing the mobile network mode to something else in the setting page, then change it back, sometimes it works ...

Airplane mode on and then off. This fixes the issue.

Issue solved
Closing the loop. I found the issue. I must have somehow changed from NV to RUIM/SIM in the Mobile Subscription settings while on a CM based ROM. When I reflashed to stock using the 1.29 (and then 1.31) stock RUU, it doesn't change this setting in the radio. And then there is no access to this setting to correct it in the stock ROM (as far as I could find... maybe there's a hidden ## option). To fix the issue, I had to reflash back to a CM based ROM so that I could access the mobile subscription settings, change it back to NV, and then reflash back to stock and let it do the Handsfree activation. After that, everything is working again.

Would you be able to walk me through that process? I am having the same issue. Where would I find those settings after flashing over to a CM based ROM?
edit: NM Pretty easy to find on a CM based ROM.
Ok Kinda long but want to cover everything:
So I rooted my htc one m8 (sprint) about 6 months ago I have twrp recovery and I flashed android revolution 8. A few months later I installed android revolution 11 no problems with it what so ever. A cpl days ago I tried to flash android revolution 22 but had no luck just kept boot looping and I lost everything on my phone after some research It seems I wouldnt be able to go to kit kat 4.4.4 without going back to stock rom so I relocked my bootloader ran rom utility updater and flashed it back to stock and reset up my phone tried to flash over to android revolution again after unlocking bootloader and all that good stuff still did not work so just decided to go back to stick 4.4.4 kept bootloader locked and didn't re root my phone didn't see much of a need to at this point could only seem to use stock but anyway after a day or so of phone running just fine well today it wont connect to my mobile network or wifi (can't make or receive phone calls can't send or receive texts and am unabke to get any internet on my phone wont even connect to wif) I have even restored the phone from original back-up that I had also tried 2 other back-ups of stock roms the phone is pretty much just an mp3 player at this point sprint said everything was fine on their end nothing they can do all the icons are there for 4g and wifi and such the phone shows me its connected to sprint shows signal strength and all that so I don't know whats wrong and don't think htc will help me since I rooted it hopefully some one here can i'm
well I must be screwed if over 300 views on my post and not reply well that's what I get I guess
As far as I know ARHD is not Sprint compatible so you probably messed up your partitions.
RUU will fix it.
Only flash roms that are in the Sprint section.
Apart from compatibility off ARHD to Sprint M8 ... There is also that dreaded HTC service pack that was released on 11th Dec which screwed the network n Wi-Fi on my phone (stock Rom)
First time itty happened due to auto update install via play store and started working after I did multiple attempts at cache delete through TWRP
2nd time even after researching and knowing the service pack was the culprit I thought I should try...ending up with factory reset...so do check it
If you too had that service pack installed
Btw even htc acknowledges the sh#@ this update is causing to the phones and wants to collect more data... I don't know if anything else can be called a legit rip off or not...

Trying to use Android Pay on a stock, unrooted Nexus 6 using 6.0.1 build MMB30G on T-Mobile but having some issues.
If I try and add a card via the app, when I click the + sign and hit add card I get an error saying network error and thats it. I also cannot use the app to pay, keeps saying card cannot be used right now. Its a TD Bank debit card which is listed as supported on AP's support page.
Anyone have some ideas on whats going on or what I can do to fix it? Phone was wiped completely clean to this build using the nexus toolkit like 2 weeks ago. bootloader is unlocked but thats it. I've cleared data on the app, force stopped it, disabled it so it reverted to the original version installed and also redownloaded the updated version. app version 1.3.122316814
I also added a card via the website but it won't show up in the app, something is definitely not syncing across.
