Samsung Galaxy S USSD Code Running Problem - solved - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

1) There is known bug/problem in Galaxy S with eclair 2.1 that USSD code stops working after some time in . I faced this problem for many days and was unable to use some GSM services like balance checking etc. I did not find any solution for it on internet.
Luckily, I was able to pin point the cause which was creating the USSD problem and just want it to share so that your time can be saved.
I observed the mobile tracker is causing the problem. As soon as I turn it off USSD works fine. When the mobile tracker is On then USSD is screwed up again. I am sure there may be other apps which can cause similar problems ... please share if u find any...And of course all galaxy S users..please confirm if the mobile tracker is casing issue in your phones as well??
2) Edit Update - For those who find "Mobile Tracker" is not the root cause --
Backup your important data.
You have to do a clean install / Factory RESET once again... try to isolate the problem causing app by installing the apps one by one and checking the USSD code functioning...for me it was mobile tracker on galaxy s Android 2.1 .....
I know this is quite tiresome work when you want lots many apps on your device...
But then you have to make a choice.
3) USSD code error when i do a speed dial..
Please hold speed dial digit for few seconds instead of using # then number OR number then call...

I have the same issue and I really don't know what's causing it. However when I put the SIM from an older contract (same carrier) USSD codes work.
However with the sim/contract I got the phone with, I get the following error "You don't have access to this service".
Might be related to the fact that the contract isn't fully activated or something like this

USSD Balance Check Problem Solved / Solution.
Samsung Galaxy S I9000 USSD command output problem solved, thanks to Ravi4Chahal.
Problem:
when i run my balance checking command *124# the USSD command executes but no output displayed,
Solution:
I disabled the mobile tracker in Settings -> Location and Security -> Mobile Tacker -> Disable

I too had a similar problem that I was only able to solve disabling Mobile tracker.
Does anybody know of a way that we can keep the mobile tracker on?
Its really a great tool in case your phone gets stolen

Thanks a lot,
I have samsung i5801 i just switched off the mobile tracker, now i can check the balance and also it shows the balance after the call is ended.
But the mobile tracker is a good utility wat should i do make both work properly.

thanks ravi4chahal, i'm able to run ussd codes now.
but still, i'm not getting "last call charge" message
Vodafone India

I recently upgraded to leaked Froyo 2.2 XXJPH, it seems USSD problem is resolved in this version. USSD code running fine along with mobile tracker at the same time.
Cheers!

Thanks Ravi! I was also facing the same problem but wasnt able to figure as to what was causing the problem. Now I can atleast check my balance by disabling the Tracker temperorily.

Samsung Galaxy S: Mobile Tracker is the problem indeed! I was wondering why I couldn't check my balance any longer... Thx!
Since Froyo seems to fix the issue, all we have to do is wait

USSD Code in Galaxy S
Indeed Tracker is the key problem to run USSD code in Galaxy S. Hope Froyo will solve the problem soon.

Thanx Guys. Problem Solved. Been wondering about it since i bought my phone 3 months back.

Hello,
Can you help me to solve the same problem in Samsung GT-i5503, because there is no option of Mobile tracker to disable.
Thank you in advance.

yes , so is m110s, no mobile tracker

I do not have mobile tracker
in my samsung galaxy fit i have same problem, but my setting does not have tracker.
Any suggestion?

hello all
i am facing the USSD code error when i do a speed dial.
after reading here i see my mobile tracker isant marked even wich means it is not working and disabled but i still have the error.
if i try to mark under mobile tracker wich is Set mobile tracker it asks me for a password.
the mobile tracker it self is grayed out and it says i need to log into my samsung account in order to use it.
so mobile tracker is not working and still have the error what could this be ?
would love to fix this using speed dial allot

If it isn't "Mobile Tracker" then it must be some other app causing the issue. Backup your important data and do factory reset. Most probably it would solve the problem.

I have a similar problem with my GT I9008L. I tried all solutions but no change. I think it's probably due to the fact that the phone is from china and its firmware csc is solely china while i am outside china. Can anybody help me there? Many thanks.

[Q] Viva incoming SMS issue and missed incoming calls

Hi, I am a recently registered user but a longtime "lurker" on the Opal section of xda.
I've bought my girlfriend an opal, roughly a year ago, and in three months or so she started complaining about some issues of the phone:
- From time to time she cannot send me SMSs, she just keep receiving the "cannot send sms" error
When this happens, she usually:
- Cannot establish an outgoing call, and more important,
- She cannot even receive any incoming call despite the mobile being connected to the network, and free, so that the caller just get a "no answer" while she doesn't even have neither a missed call report nor any ringtone deployed.
- Receive incoming SMSs
I've already tried to solve the problem in various different ways, including(of course) looking for help in existing threads, flashing a new rom on the phone resetting more than once.
I'm just stuck on a dead point, as of now.
Do you have an idea on how to solve such issues?
The only "fix" we found was to activate airplane mode then deactivate it to restart the network connection.
I think it is something related to the radio part of the OS but i couldn't find different radios to flash on.
Thanks in advance!
Hi Paperboy,
your problem is contained into 2 possibilities:
Your Network Setting (the SMS provider number)
Your OS (most propable)
I guess the best remedy is to use the official ROM (WM 6.1 Professional). You may have used unstable ROMs that caused such a mess.
Unfortunately, I merely found the Arabic ROM (It can be changed to English from (Settings>> Multilanguage Support).
WM 6.1 Arabic ROM
Hope it helps somehow.
Actually, I think it's neither of two.
I checked more than once the provider settings, including the sms service center. Actually if it is not correct, she'd never be able to send messages, while the "hangs" are just...random.
On the os side, i think it's not a matter of roms, mainly because i flashed as a consequence of months of frustration with the original rom.
Any other ideas?
btw, thanks for your advice!

Hey there. I cant help but laugh, I had the exact same problem when i first got my phone and I used to think its a problem with the network but it isn't, if you haven't changed the stock OS/ROM, thats your issue, Flash an new ROM and it should resolve your problem.
(I recommend the pajerm RC3 ROM)
(Take care to backup all data, use outlook to backup all your contacts and stuff).
If that doesn't resolve your problem, post back. Best o' luck.

Okay this issue is rather different, What is certain is that the issue is not on the software side. Either your phone is konk or its the service, check the same SIM on a different phone, see if you face the same issue, if you do then its your network (which I know You said is unlikely, but no harm in making sure right?) If on the other hand, the phone works perfectly fine, then you have a problem with your phone's hardware in which case you need to get it check and probably serviced, worst case, get the handset replaced (if its under warranty).
Best o' luck
Try THIS ROM and report...Has a variety of apps as add on...Hope it works for you.
I'll give a try!
Thank you anyway!

Dont lock your phone with the default windows lock.....(use S2U2)
I know its strange but this helps, and do restart your phone every third day....
Issue Not Solved, but figured out
The HTC opal is sort of incompatible with certain carriers around the world, and this issue does not apply to all opals, only some of them have an issue. For example my phone has this issue with Airtel in my country. The phone seems to work fine with every other carrier. I think I might have to change my damn network again!
is it possible to turn off the thread view in opal??pls hlp

losing 3g connection after 5 mins of deep sleep

hi there
i have been searching everywhere for a solution to my problem but did not find anything useful yet
thats why i will post my problem here and see if anyone encountered the same problem and try to find fix
my problem is
push notification is not working properly on 3g connection but it work well on wifi connection
apps like gmail, email, gtalk, whatsapp, viber, and all other similar apps loses connection to the server and push notifications are delayed from minutes to hours
problem detail:
i have unlimited data plan and a very fast 3g connection so i keep it on all the time
after 5 minutes of turning the screen off any push notification will not get through to the device
i start using the device again and open the browser and i can see that the 3g connection is working but no push notification is coming through
(i have my wife device and i am using it to test sending emails to my gmail account and sending messages to my whatsapp account from her device to my device)
after few minutes i will start receiving all push notification all at once
i tested 2 carriers on my galaxy note and on my wife galaxy s2 i9100 all having the same problem on 3g connection
however both devices will have perfect push notification on wifi connection
i test many stock and custom roms and kernels and modems on both devices
but never had any luck
tested my carrier on iphone 4g and push notification for whatsapp is delivered on time
i just want to know what causes this problem
is it kernel related? is it modem related? is it software related? or is it from the carrier ?
i already contacted my carrier and changed the sim card and the problem is still there
they told me to contact them again if the problem presist but in my country we will be having holidays until wednesday
any help will be appreciated
nobody is having a similar problem?
any ideas guys?
Are you using any apps meant for increasing the battery backup?

no i am not
i got other networks sim card and tested them
seems that it is network related because one of the other networks are working perfecting with push notification
in my country there are 3 mobile network companies
and only on one of them i am having proper push notification which is not my current carrier and i do not want to change to the other carrier
i already contacted them again regarding this issue and they promised they will try to solve the issue
just wanted to share this info with you so that anybody from bahrain would know that the problem is from the network company (Viva & Zain) and only (Batelco) is having proper connection
might be due to fast dormancy, but thats a wild gues, you can try by switching it off. dial *#9900#*#*.
usually this behaviour is due to settings related to battery saving, or an app thay does this for you.
You can also check if your apn, on the conflicting network is configured as directed by the network. settings, more, mobile network, acces point names, etc.

if you read my previous post you would have understood that the problem is related to the carrier not anything on the device
and you can see that i said that i am not using any power saving apps

just trying to help.
then check if your carriers correct apn settings are set on device. You havent checked this right? check this when device has full connection, then check when connection appears not working as expected.
Also check if fast dormency, disabling it perhaps fixes it. As fast dormency, as I read network controlled can influence your connection states. Again something on your device... You also havent checked this right?
Another option is flashing a different modem. But remember which one you have so you can reflash it back.

Got the same issue here, I have ported my number to Viva (almost a year now) never got the same issue with Batelco before. Devices, fast dormancy & battery savers have nothing to do with it. I’m suspecting the process of diverting the number to a different operator as the cause.
Anyway, transferring to Batelco by the end of this month again.

[Q] Lag while receiving calls and SMS issue

Hi everyone, I'm using Stocklite v8 custom rom, I am facing following issues,
1. Even when I have good network coverage (around 59 dBm) there is a huge lag while receiving a call. A caller to my number have to wait for around 20 seconds to receive a call, so sometimes the caller may end the call thinking my number is unreachable.
2. I don't receive SMS many times especially from web (e. g. I have not received SMS in first attempt from google when they wanted to verify my account) . I checked all the settings from my service provider but they said everything is fine.
I logged a complaint to my network provider but they think everything is fine. I even bought new SIM card thinking if the old one is causing problem, but still facing the same issue.
Even before Stocklite I was using Apocalypse rom & I was facing the same issue. So is it Android that causing me the problem?
Plz help me. Thanks in advance.
[1] Did you tweak some clock speeds, coz sometimes in roms they tweak it when your phone sleeps its clock speeds go down like 100mhz then when screen is on its back to full speed. And why do you have to wait 20 seconds??
[2] Try to go to airplane mode and turn it off, reboot. If that didnt solve your problem then apply a pin to your sim card, when i did that i can recieve sms.
Hope this solves your problem

Thanks for the reply.
[1] Yes, I did check some of the clock speed tweaks & Minimum RAM tweak. But unchecked all these tweaks & then tried it but still the problem is persisting.
The problem is that sometimes when people call me they don't hear my caller tune for around 15-20 seconds & able to hear the tune after I receive the call although there is good network strength. So most of the people don't wait for that long thinking my number ain't reachable & end the call. But if they give another try just after the first attempt, they get a reception from me within 5 seconds I hope u got my point now.
[2] I did try that airplane mode trick but seems it's not working for me.
As I already said this issue doesn't occur everytime, but it happens randomly & very frequently. Also sometimes I get duplicate SMSs from my network provider. They checked everything from their end & confirmed that it's not a network related issue.
So, I believe it's my phone which is causing me this problem.
Try not using internet
Try not using internet when not in use..
try uninstalling apps which enables when a call is made or recieved like shaplus caller info and truecaller or call recorder.

I had installed call recorder once long time ago, but I have already uninstalled it. Other than that I have apps such as hangouts, clean master, google settings etc & rest are multimedia apps, but I don't know if they interfere during calls or not.
I have noticed one thing that the mentioned problem occurs mostly when my phone is in idle state, but it occurs when the screen is ON & when the phone is busy as well. I have already unchecked all the speed tweaks in my phone but still no solution found.

Thanks I actually found out that its the problem with the phone itself. I tried to check on other handset and I didn't face such issues.
But now I am facing another major issue.Whenever I change my sim card and insert it into another phone, my dad receives an sms from number that says my IMEI has been stolen and everyday my phone credits get deducted. I dont know whether i have ever enabled change sim alert option or not but I am unable to find out that option in my stocklite v8 rom.
Please tell me how to disable that option in my phone, I am running out of my credits.

Question Can''t received google verification codes thru sms

I've flashed Project Elixir yesterday and during the Google Acc setup , I've encounter a bug not really sure if it is I can't receive google verificiation codes and I though it was a ROM problem so I decided to switch to Depfest both running on android 12L and it also occurs. Well it's not really a problem tho there's some workaround but I wonder if anyone also encounter this problem?, and what are the fix?

Question Not receiving texts

Hi, I hope someone can help me with this, I searched other threads for also other models of Xiaomi phones but everything I tried is not helping.
Basically, I'm not receiving all texts. I am receiving some (from certain networks), but not receiving the rest, including authentication codes from all services/apps. My phone is up to date software wise (MIUI 14.0.3). My messaging app is Google Messages and that's what was installed as default when I bought the phone. This has been going on for a few days, can't tell how long exactly but I noticed on Friday. Things I've tried so far:
- the standard of rebooting the phone, reinserting sim card, deleting cache in messaging app, putting my simcard into the 2nd slot
- trying a different messaging app,
- checking the smsc number,
- making sure my messaging app has autostart on,
- making sure miui optimisation is on in developer settings (saw it worked for some people - not me unforch)
- contacted my network provider who weren't able to help me troubleshoot this as everything seems fine on their end.
Does anyone else have an idea what could help? I'm trying to avoid doing a factory reset cause if this doesn't work I'll have to log into my apps again and a lot of them require a verification sms to come through to log in and obviously these are not coming through so I'll be stuck
Many thanks
