Hi, I hope someone can help me with this, I searched other threads for also other models of Xiaomi phones but everything I tried is not helping.
Basically, I'm not receiving all texts. I am receiving some (from certain networks), but not receiving the rest, including authentication codes from all services/apps. My phone is up to date software wise (MIUI 14.0.3). My messaging app is Google Messages and that's what was installed as default when I bought the phone. This has been going on for a few days, can't tell how long exactly but I noticed on Friday. Things I've tried so far:
- the standard of rebooting the phone, reinserting sim card, deleting cache in messaging app, putting my simcard into the 2nd slot
- trying a different messaging app,
- checking the smsc number,
- making sure my messaging app has autostart on,
- making sure miui optimisation is on in developer settings (saw it worked for some people - not me unforch)
- contacted my network provider who weren't able to help me troubleshoot this as everything seems fine on their end.
Does anyone else have an idea what could help? I'm trying to avoid doing a factory reset cause if this doesn't work I'll have to log into my apps again and a lot of them require a verification sms to come through to log in and obviously these are not coming through so I'll be stuck
Many thanks

Unlocked bootloader? Rooted?

Hello all,
I have been happily using my Moto X for many months now without any issues. I have a Verizon Dev Edition which is unlocked/rooted with TWRP installed. The only mods are a customer boot logo and animation. I have super SU installed and ADBlock. Otherwise its the stock current OTA rom.
Just yesterday I have developed a new problem. When I am connected to Wifi, I cannot send MMS messages (which is mostly pictures texts and group texts) out. I can however receive them in. When I disconnect from the Wifi (but leaving the Wifi enabled), I can then send MMS messages. I am using the stock Messaging app. I have also tried Hangouts, which has the same problem.
I have been on the internet reading through forums with people that has the same "type" of problems across different devices and networks. So far nothing I have read has fixed my issues. My APN looks to be set up correctly, but even if it wasn't, there is no ability to add/edit anything.
I just called and troubleshooted with Verizon. After numerous different things they finally sent a "network refresh" to the device. Not even this has worked. Their final solution is to do a factory reset on the device. Before I do this I was hoping someone here might know what I could try before I take the plunge.
Please help! Thanks!
Welp. I disabled Adblock Plus and it works again!

I and other people have been suffereing from the same problem, no one has found a fix. there are a few forums and someone suggested using RSD Lite to flash your phone and that wil fix it but I'm not messing with that.
I just refunded my phone. You can post about it on google plus, the motorola engineers are very responsive and way more helpful than customer service!
Title is pretty much explanatory of my issue. A friend of mine asked why I never reply to his texts, which made me curious. I'm using a brand new oneplus one and hadn't yet configured Amplify, so I asked him to text me, and it worked fine. I then limited the following: *netstats*, service state tracker, (anything with the words google, finsky, wearble, or sync (only google play services)) , and asked him to send a message again. Nothing. He sent 8 texts, I didn't receive a single one. He was receiving all of mine, though. So I tried unlimiting one by one until my limited list was empty again, and STILL wasn't receiving texts. I cleared data and uninstalled, and my SMS functions are still not working. I tried cleaning cache+dalvik from twrp, to no avail. My next move is to dirty flash, as soon as I'm done backing up everything. WTF?
So I've got a couple problems that I hope someone here can help me fix.
I've only had my phone for a few days and things were going great until this morning. I received a text message and replied to it, but my response just sat on "sending..." until it failed. Once it failed I was able to tap on it to send it again, and it went through. Tested sending other messages to the same person and one other and I'm having the same issue. One person has a Galaxy S8 and the other an iPhone SE, so it's not limited to just Android or iOS users. All texts I try to send sit on "sending..." forever until they fail, then they send right away if I tap to resend. I've tried every supposed fix that I could find online to people that were having the same problem on older Samsung phones, but nothing has helped. The one solution that seems like it might help, I can't find on this phone. I've used both the stock Samsung Messages app and the Google Messages app, they both refuse to send messages and I can't find this setting in either app or in the phone settings. The setting I am referring to is called "message center" and it's supposed to be in the settings for the messages app, where you can change a number that corresponds to your carrier to allow text messaging or something like that. Like I said, I have no problem receiving texts.
My other issue is one I actually ran into on my Note 4 I was using before I got the 9. I had 8.1 installed on the 4 but I tried everything I could find online to try and fix this issue too, but didn't really have any luck. Now the problem has returned on my 9, I can't download updates or new apps from the Play Store. They just sit on "downloading". The download might finally start after letting it sit for an hour or so, but they won't initiate right away. So I've taken to using APKPure or APK Mirror to do my updates.
I've tried many things to solve both issues, but nothing has helped. The only thing I've not done is a factory reset because I really don't want to go through that already. Plus I did factory resets/clean ROM installs on the Note 4 and the Play Store issue always came back. I'm at wits end and am about ready to switch to an iPhone for good. Really don't want to as I much rather prefer Android and especially the Note phones, the 9 is a beast. But I can't take this Play Store issue much longer and not being able to send texts is not acceptable. So any help on either issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Have you tried changing your network settings? Have you made any modifications to your phone? Is play store problem on WiFi, mobile data, or both? Have you cleared data in play store and services? I think if you've had the problem with two of your phone, is there some commonality between the two? Some none mainstream apps or modification you did to both? If you've tried any and all fixes you've seen on Google, I think you need to factory reset, no point jumping through hoops to fix it if you're not willing to do a reset once at least. There are limited backup capabilities without root that you could use. But really you want to reset, and use as close to factory settings as you can for a while and see if the problem is still there before adding all your own apps and stuff.
What mods have you done to the note 9? Doesn't sound like a stock setup you got going there. Are you using the stock factory sms app or did you download an apk of it from apk pure?
My next question would be what network are you on and where and what model device.?

The text message issue seems to have resolved itself. I'm hoping it was just an issue with my network and won't return. I'd still really like to find the "message center" setting that's mentioned so many times online though in case I need it in the future.
I didn't bother listing what network I'm on since these issues appear to happen on many models of phones and all networks, but here is my info. 512gb model Note 9 on Spectrum Mobile, who is using Verizon's network I believe. My Note 4 on the other hand is a T-Mobile version running on their network through Straight-Talk.
Both issues happened on wifi and lte.
Like I said, I've done everything listed online I could find. I've cleared app cache, app data, reset network settings, booted into safe mode, booted into recovery to clear cache, installed the absolute newest versions of play services and play store apks, and whatever else I've read or thought of. And like I said, I've done clean installs/factory resets on my Note 4 to try and fix the play store issue and it always comes back. So I highly doubt doing so will permanently fix it on the 9.
I've been using Android since it first was released and have been in IT for much longer, but this play store issue has me stumped. The 9 isn't modified in any way other than running a dark theme from the Samsung Theme app. I guess if nothing turns up here I will give it a few days and then do a reset if it doesn't resolve itself, reinstall apps slowly so I can see if one of them is responsible even though safe mode ruling them out didn't work.
You don't need to worry about the message center, I'm pretty sure it's not even a thing anymore, I remember it from the days of the Nokia 5110 haha. If you really want to know it and your messages app has a setting to add it you can call your network provider for it or look on Google for your networks message center, but I'm sure it's not even necessary, especially if your test messaging works, if you needed to enter the message center and you didn't, you wouldn't be able to text at all. As I said, I'm positive it's a thing just from the olden days anyway.
As for play store, I have had a similar problem in the past but it was always just a short lived issue that resolved itself, but if it's happening to you repeatedly then I don't know, other than a reset.
Hi all,
I apologise in advance for the length, but was wondering if anyone had encountered this issue, and what they did to resolve it, if so.
The above errors come from the Xiaomi SIM Activation Service.
I'm running MIUI 12.5 Enhanced (CN ROM), 12.5.12.
A few days ago (from September 10th on), I started noticing errors with message and call history sync. Message sync would say "failed to get SIM info", while call history sync would simply say it was interrupted, and to try again. Of course, trying again for both never did anything.
Prior to this, I never had any issues with syncing call history or messages to the cloud.
Troubleshooting
• I've tried wiping the phone, rebooting, and trying with different SIMs, including logging out and back into my Mi Account.
• My providers have confirmed no issues sending the SMS's from their end, I have enough credit, and no "send/receive international SMS block" in place.
• Some solutions on the Internet say to enable data roaming and reboot, which didn't work. They also speak of allowing all permissions for the SIM Activation Service - (unless I am missing something), there are no permissions to allow, they simply don't appear when I look at the Service in "Apps", under Settings.
Outcome
Effectively, this means I can't sync my messages and call history to the cloud - this is also replicated across multiple MIUI smartphones that I use as testbeds, and a bug report has been submitted to Xiaomi.
All other sync services work fine.
The only thing I can do now, is periodically backup messages and call history to external storage.
Anyone have any ideas I can try, please?
Yesterday, after a read xiaomie installation, I had the same problem, I could not activate the SIM card and synchronize sms.
Today I set the language of the English UK and US region. I turned on mobile data and turned off wifi.
Such a liking was able to activate the SIM.
Unfortunately I get sms sync error, maybe it's a bug on the xiaomi server side. But the activation was successful.
Very simple answer. Sorry to say- I have taken service providers to the ombudsman. It's the service provider. They prevent the Sim identification and also international SMS from going through. Xiaomi, in their complicity, have taken away the feature showing the international SMS (it is now just one bar, not two). Phone says under device "Sim card not installed or activated"...yet it is. So, they prevent that at Optus, AMAYSIM, Vodafone.. whomever. They ALL do it. Why? They don't have anything better to do and enjoy the power, control and frustrating the ship out of customers. If you search the internet, if you have service, yet can't sync call history and SMS, it is the SERVICE PROVIDER GAMING YOU! WELCOME TO PLANET EARTH.
Also, it prevents call recording. Great game master controllers.
Need help diagnosing and solving a bizarre problem: S10 doesn't receive texts from a specific sender, except after restarting, retroactively receives all texts sent by that sender. Supernatural powers might be involved, given the sender's phone is mine, and the fickle S10 is my wife's.
I'm including a lot of info below, b/c this seems to be a tough problem to diagnose, so I'm erring on the side of completeness.
Specs: My phone is an LG V35, rooted with Magisk, Android 9. Her S10 is not rooted, running Android 9. Her phone is logged in to the same Google account I use on the Play Store, so that she can use any of my paid apps without paying again. (This has never caused any SMS problems in the past, just annoyances like her getting my reminders, which I then turned off on her phone.)
The problem started on 10/26/22 (about three weeks ago). I know this b/c I sent her a long text that day, which her phone received immediately, followed by another text that same day, which she didn't receive until eight days later on 11/3/22. There were several other texts I sent btw 10/26 and 11/2 that she didn't receive until 11/3. However, we did not catch this problem until yesterday (11/17), when she discovered that I had not, in fact, been ghosting her, but that her phone was not getting my texts. We found this out b/c some other app on her phone wasn't behaving normally, so I restarted her phone -- and BAM, all my unreceived texts suddenly arrived on her phone. Since then, I've tried texting her phone, and it receives nothing from me until a restart, and then her phone receives all my texts retroactively.
As far as we can tell, neither of our phones has any problem with SMS communications with anyone else's phone (except some iPhones -- don't get me started). Other people receive my texts normally, and her phone receives other people's texts normally.
I tried texting her from two different Google Voice accounts I have (both different from the Google account our phones share), and her phone received both G-Voice texts immediately.
I tried changing my SMS app (from Pulse to Textra). No effect (her S10 didn't receive texts until restarting). I tried changing her SMS app. No effect. I did a Samsung software update (thru Settings) on her phone. No effect.
I have an old S10e, my last phone before I switched to the LG. As an experiment, I popped her phone's SIM card into my old S10e. I installed an SMS app neither of us has ever used before, Handcent Next, on the S10e. Without doing anything else (i.e. w/o transferring her S10 data or settings to the S10e), I texted her number from my LG. The text arrived immediately in Handcent. I thought, Eureka!
I promptly factory-reset my S10e, and used Samsung's Smart Switch to transfer "Everything" from her S10 to the S10e. After all her data, apps, & settings were transferred to the S10e, I texted her number, and… NOTHING. The S10e did not receive my text, until I restarted it.
So, my question to all Android sleuths out there is: What the hell?
Excellent detail and info.
My initial guess may be because you're sharing the Google account. Yes, I know you said this didn't cause problems before, but now with Google Messages (I know you're not using that, but still) doing lots of RCS and background stuff, I imagine there may be some behind-the-scenes interaction that is causing problems. I'm not saying this is a fault of RCS or anything like that, but I think the sharing may be the issue?
I would suggest trying to create a new Google account, and keeping the phones on separate accounts... it's a free and easy test, I figure... and you seem quite skilled in more difficult things, so this should be easy enough?
Also note, some apps support family sharing, so if you setup a "family" between the two accounts, you may get the purchased apps on both accounts without too much issue. My wife and I do this and it has worked pretty well for our apps. (FWIW, we both have S10+ and use GMessages on separate google accounts, family shared, and don't have any issues with texts, etc.)
schwinn8: I liked your idea & reasoning, and I implemented it -- new personal Gmail account for her, added to my G-family. Restarted her phone, and sent her a text which did not arrive. (I texted her from a Google Voice account, and that SMS arrived instantly.) I then restarted her phone again, and, for the first time, the initial text still did not arrive. That's new, at least.
What setting could possibly delay a text from coming in?
Well, that's not the direction I wanted things to go either!
Not sure what else could delay texts from coming in... not aware of any delay mechanisms in most cases.
Are both on Wifi during this process? Is the LG running a ROM with working VOWIFI? Yes, I am grasping at straws...
Well, recalling my old Windows 3.x experiences, I factory-reset the S10e (my old phone), and installed all of my wife's apps and recreated all her settings on it from scratch -- i.e. no transferring apps or settings from her phone. A labor-intensive solution, to be sure, but it is working so far. The S10e receives my texts normally.
