about hard reset - Touch HD Windows Mobile ROM Development

can anyone tell me what its mean hard reset?

hard reset is a factory reset, i.e. phone reset to default settings so you'll have to go through customization again
More info on the HD can be found in the wiki and the sticky threads at the top of each forum
In future please search before posting and ask questions in the General forum

Hard Reset Another Way??

Hi
I have searched but am in trouble. I flashed SJ 15 Nov rom and have lost the use of my hardware buttons. ( send key, end key & directional button) I want to flash an earlier rom but in need to know if there is another way to do a hard reset after the flash with making use of the hardware soft keys which is used in a normal hard reset.
Help would be great.

Dave, thanks for the reply. I thought that a clear storage was different to a hard reset. Can you confirm a clear storage is the same as a hard reset.
Thanks. Richard

Both remove all user data from the device and restore it to the state it was in when the ROM was flashed.
There was some discussion over differences but I can't recall any.

Thanks again Dave, tried search in a few forums but could'nt find any article referring to differences. Will try clear storage but just a nuisance not having function of hardware keys.

Did I Just Potentially Brick My Phone? :'(

Today I chose to root hack my phone in order to use the Hero Rom, and after installing RC33, I think I made a mistake down the line & now I have no recovery screen. When I press Home + End or End + Camera I get 3 androids on skateboards but it wont let me wipe out the phone or install anything else on it. I've been up ALL night and I looked all around the internet (a little too late, i guess I should've read up more before I attempted this) but can anyone please offer some help? Is there any way for me to get a working recovery screen back?
If you can get to the spl you are not bricked. Drop the dreaming.nbh on your sdcard and update that through the spl.
What miketaylor00 said should work fine.
If you can't get it going and come back to find your thread closed and no further answers given, it is because you posted in the wrong section. I see this is your first post, so figured I would warn you. There are a lot of people posting to the wrong sections around here cluttering things up, so they have gotten quite anal about it. Try the Q&A section next time.
Thread moved to Q&A as not related to rom development.
Plenty of other threads exist regarding bricking phone etc. Please posts further queries into one of these.

TyTN II problem restarting

When i restart it activates the first time installation thingie... it does it even with shutdown and soft reset and hardreset.
i used 3 roms and they all did the same thing
enter the first time installation thingie
can any1 help me?
I got caught in a loop one time when i was trying to do a hard reset. When it came back from clearing the memory and I did the calibrate screen thing, I would soft reset prior to the bloatware installation. When it restarted it would go right back into the clearing data screen of the hard reset.
Eventually I let the bloatware install, then did a hard reset and that seemed to clear it out.
Not sure if that will help.
I have no idea what you just said .. :$ sry
but is there a way to TOTALLY clean my Pocket pc?

A Hard reset will wipe out everything that you have installed on the phone, and you will be back with the operating system, whether it is a custom rom or an ATT Rom or HTC Rom.
Are you talking about wiping the "hard drive" clean with no operation system? I do not know how to do that, but why would you want to do that anyway.
phooey, i'm having similar problems... hard reset (holding soft keys and pressing reset with stylus) doesn't stop the issue from happening again. -- back to factory reset when rebooting either soft or hard. not sure if this is the same issue...if so i double posted sorry.
hey jklarich, you have posted a new thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=564537
...so consider this post of mine a reply to this thread as well as the one created by you (referenced above).
NEITHER of you have mentioned WHICH ROMs you tried when the problem started.
NEITHER of you have mentioned the HardSPL version(s) you have on your devices.
NEITHER of you have categorically clarified that you have gone through the steps in the FAQs of the ROMs you've tried.
BOTTOM LINE: always provide more information!
now with lack of information, using my "mind reading skills" (well actually they're just logical, deductive, and analytic approaches with a touch of human psychology and n00b-behavior-predicting voodoo magic), i will reason as follows:
seeing as how BOTH of you are junior members and how BOTH of you mention experiencing the issue with THREE ROMs, i suspect you must have coincidently tried the top three most popular WM6.5 ROMs, which would be TPC's, abusalsa's PDA Corner, and one other.
THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH NEARLY EVERY WM6.5 ROM! it is mentioned in the FAQs on the first page pertaining to each of the popular WM6.5 ROMs for the kaiser. the workaround/solution is mentioned in the FAQ!
the above "flame" is based solely on the assumption that you both tried WM6.5 ROMs without reading/following the suggestions in the FAQs. if you have indeed tried the magical step in the FAQ that should fix this problem but yet the problem remains, then i'm sorry about the unnecessary flame and i hope you find the solution to your problem.
Even though the TPC ROM says it's worked out, install the factory ROM first. That fixed the problem for me. Sorry, but I think this is valid only because TPC states quite clearly that they think they sorted out this problem on their thread.

Some other options beside downloading and reading the user manual would be:
1) search in this forum and you could find this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505753
2) use Google and search "topaz hard reset" and you could find this:

Need expert

help, I ran task29 with h-spl (god im stupid) Now I wanna run xperileo but I stuck after image update. as for 2nd option there are pressing action button to proceed but which one is the action button god i tried all method but didnt work please help me !
No need for opening a new thread, you already asked your question in your other thread.
How is your phone stuck after flash? Does it show the SE logo and doesn't proceed?
When flashing with the microSD method your need to press the power button to proceed, wait untill it says that the flash is successfull and reset your phone.
Mod edit: for the future pls refrain from dual posting and opening of redundant threads. If you have rom/app specific questions search first and use existing/the respective threads for posting. Thx.
