via AC sideload app, it doesn't show in the live wallpaper list and I can't find it with Astro, I try re-installing it, but AC sideload app says it is already installed, I am somewhat a noob with android and modding. Any suggestions?

I am trying to install something that will read WORD documents. The old Google Apps (from Cyanogen) used to have something, but the latest round doesn't appear to.
I get the error message "install_parse_failed_no_certificates"
I'm using the command:
adb install C:/PassionQuickOffice.apk
Tried a different version of the file and I also tried to install using ESTRONG - no luck
Any idea what I am doing wrong?
Not sure if this will work or not but I don't think you can/need to install it.
Just push it to system/app
Hi guys,
Trying to install some modified apps with ADB.
When I run the "adb install Music.apk" command, it stats PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES.
So I assume thats saying it's not signed? Well the apps are from Ultralinx and have worked on other devices fine...
can someone assist me and let me know why they're not working?

Uninstall the Samsung music app first (and reboot). Music.apk has different certificate than Samsung music app. So you cannot install or install -r it.
Or just install Music Mod from the Market. It is pretty much the same as stock Android music app and can be installed along Samsung app.
Try pushing it to system/app via adb or root explorer. Does the job for me

Ok I followed GabrialDestruir guide and it went off with out a hitch.. Much thanks.
My question is I have some apk files I want to install when I try to install them they say that install is blocked (how do I get around this)
and when I try and plug my NC via usb I done see the system folder to be albe to place them in the app directory
1. Uncheck the install non-market apps box in "nookcolor tools", recheck it, try again.
1a. Same as above, reboot.
or
2. Install Astro file manager from market. Goto menu/tools/apps manager in Astro.
or
3. Install Appinstaller from market, try that.
You should be more specific in your thread subject btw.
I tried to install my first apk with different file managers, but when I tried to install it with help of Root Explorer without remounting to rw, it installed my apk.
Now I can install my apk files directly from download list of my browser.
thanks guys... for some reason just had to uncheck it and recheck it and it works fine now
A couple suggestions if you haven't done so already. Download ADW launcher or Launcher Pro. And to switch between home screens to test which one is better get "Home Switcher" from market. (it will let you revert to B&N home screen easily)
And "Quick Boot" in the market does wonders for a quick restart instead of messing with that weird power button.

Hi Everyone -
I'm looking for a little help with my rooted nook, specifically on getting apps. I just rooted it, following instructions on this site using ManualNooter and CWM3028 image files starting from a stock 1.2 device. Seems like everything works fine.
When it comes to apps, it looks like there are multiple ways to allow loading of apps and I want to find what's right for me. I wasn't able to follow the instructions where you go to YouTube (although Gmail works fine for me), and the ADB options of copying via USB cable isn't attractive to me. I would like to be able to search the market and load on the device. Right now I can't even load Market apps - they download but don't install. I have checked and unchecked the "allow non-market apps" box, but nothing happens.
Are there some straightforward steps to allow me to load apps on the device without moving files around?
Thanks!
So I deleted tethering guard after I rooted my phone under the impression from some other forum that would allow me to tether freely. Well its quite the opposite, now when I go to the tethering app, it wont even attempt to turn on, neither will any other tethering apps. I found the tetheringguard.apk file online and attempted to re install it to no avail. I have tried, command prompt, this is the result;
C:\Users\RC\AppData\Local\Temp\Rar$EXa0.371\data>adb install <C:\Users\RC\Downloads>/<Tetheringguard.apk
Access is denied.
I have tried the APK installer app from the play store, it loads via Sim and when I click install it says "Application not installed"
Lastly I tried emailing the apk to my own email and opening it with my phone, that does the same thing as the APK installer app.
I am brand new at all of this stuff so please be patient, and thanks for the help
Also Im using holiday-dream-x2-Rom.
3rd party apps allowed
usb debugging is on.
Remount the system partition as r/w or download one of the ruu.zips and pull it from there

it wont install like a normal app because its a system app, you have to use a root explorer to copy it to the proper location and then make sure it has correct permissions.
Reflash rom, and only wiping dalvik and cache, and you will have it back.
