I've exported my address book and now when I import it I get a parse error. I'm getting frustrated here.

Have you tried to import using gmail contacts? I have always used that.
I did see that when you open the contacts > menu > more > import/ export > import from SD card or Export to SD card.............searching for vcard

What are you exporting from? Vcard isn't as universal as it should be. You could try creating a contact on the phone, then export it - import on your pc and try to find out what is different.

I'm using the import/export feature built into the phone. I chalked it up to having 500 some odd contacts.

So you are trying to export contacts on the phone and re-import them - like the group/ringtone fix - making dupes on phone of the ones in google?
Someone on another forum, found that birthday's with no year caused a problem for google contacts. It could be something like this, but I don't know where to start looking.
Having same issue.
Captivate cannot read vcards it sends to itself through email
I created a new contact on my Captivate, sent namecard for the contact using email, sent the email to myself. After receiving the email on my phone, I clicked Open using Contacts. I then get an error:
Reading of vCard has failed ... I/O error.
WTF ? Crazy !!
I had some trouble trying to put contacts directly into the phone.
So, I just loaded them into the gmail website contacts from the PC.
Since then, no problems, and they stay synced up.
In any standard .vcf file, you should be able to open it with a text editor to eliminate corrupted entries. Just compare files that import to those that don't and you will figure out what is breaking import.

I have 2 gmail accounts on my nexus one with contacts in both accounts. I want contacts in account x to be moved account y, how can I do that?
Manually. Export from one Gmail, delete from it, import in another.

Do this via phone or gmail?
Do it via computer would be the best way. You can export and then import via file.
I did the same thing earlier this week. Exported all contacts from 1 acct to a vcard file. Imported from the one I was going to use. Then merged/cleaned duplicates. (There were a LOT of duplicates). I did, however, have to wipe my phone to clear all the old duplicated contacts. Once I signed back in though, sync completed and I was looking correct.
Good day folks!
Is there any app available for importing contacts saved in a CSV file?
I recently exported my contacts to Outlook using HTC sync prior to S-OFFing.
I had also used a crappy backup tool which completely failed to restore anything
(in case you wanto know the fauly app was Backup Master, stay away)
Well, now i have the contacts in a CSV file on my SD card and i want to import the contacts to my phone book.
Tried the import through Gmail option (which i am not very keen on doing.. for obvious reasons), but even having that as a last option does not hyelp as the 'import' button does not appear in my gmail account on the mobile.
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks
You could log into you gmail account on a pc, then import the contacts csv, then sync your phone contacts with your gmail account
Doing it through GMail would really be the best option
well, i did not wanto use google...
not sure if i want to voluntarily give up all my contacts...
though am quite certain they have it anyways
for anyone who may have this issue, this is what i did...
the contacts were saved in outlook...
i exported all the contacts in .vcf format to a directory on the SD card.
the stock contacts app provides an option to import contacts from memory card...
that's about it...
I am trying to export my contacts that are stored in the phones memory to a VCF file so that I can import them into a new phone. When I go to the import/export menu in Contacts the only Option it gives me is Send to Namecard. This will create a VCF file but it only contains part of my contact list and not the full list. Did they do away with the options to import and export to SD? Does anyone know of a way to get it to grab all of the contacts?
Thanks for any help you can provide!
how i import VCF Contacts from computer to WP7 ?!
im using htc hd7 wp7.5

I guess you have a live account added to your phone. so just go on your web browser on your pc to your live account and go contacts import. than click import from pc find your vcf and done your contacts are going to be synced automatically after you sync your account on your phone again
when i try to import vcf files it says " Internal error importing file "
so ?

It says that on your PC right?? if that's the case try with another account like google or yahoo. I have contacts form gmail, 2 live accounts and facebook syncing.
How do you import contacts from a file? I have my old phone's contacts in a vcf file. Where do I put this file so that the import function will find it?
How do you edit and delete contacts? <--This can be done with the People app. Scratch this part.
Where do the exported contacts end up?
Thanks,
Jim

Connect phone to computer.
Drag file anywhere on phone or SD card (remember where.)
Disconnect from computer.
In contacts app, click menu > import/export
follow prompts.
Exported contacts end up where you choose on phone or sd card.
The good news is that if you select the correct location for the vcf file; the phone has an excellent chance of finding it.
The People app is very helpful also.
