I tried the method of settings- applications - clear the date from all google related apps - this but it doesn't work.
Changed also the gmail password so the SGS can't log in... Doesn't work.
Whatever I do - I get a red triangle in the top left corner asking for my google password.
Any ideas?
Frankyl - its disappointing that a user needs to go into so much trouble to change an email...
just go into Seetings > Accounts & Sync
then you can Add new accounts or Edit exisiting accounts

If you are trying to edit the main account that you signed in with first.. Basically NO! Tried it myself as I couldn't choose which google chat account it signed with as I have 2. Had to factory reset and enter the 2 accounts in the right order first being the one that had all my calendar detail and my google chat account that had all my contacts in.
that doesn't sounds quite right, i'm able to delete/edit/add any account listed in the Accounts & Sync page in settings

When you click edit it only lets you change the sync options for that account... but say like me you have 2 gmail accounts and you link them both the first one will sync your calendar the second account will then not give you the option to sync the calendar... also only then lets you sign into things like market place and google chat with the first account ... with no available option to switch accounts... I spoke to samsung and they said the same you must delete the head account (very first account used to access market place or activate anything on the handset). and to do anything other than adjust the sync settings you must factory reset it even tells you that if you try to delete the account!! try it!!
i'm sync-ing calendar with 2 Gmail account 1 for work 1 for personal
each of them have its own sets of contacts and calendars, they each one show up in different colour.
on the personal gmail account i event sync the picasa web album
then on top of that i also sync my yahoo account calendar and contacts, as well as my MSN
but MSN can only sync contacts no calendar option for in hotmail/live accounts
my twitter account can only sync contacts as well
but facebook account can sync both calendar and contacts
and emails also sync across gmails/yahoo/msn accounts
as well as the IM for gtalk/yahoo/msn
Are you using something other than the stock android calendar because with mine whatever gmail account I signed in first with I had option for sync on the calendar but the second only contacts and gmail.... but with regards to mine, I also had to do it as all my card details were linked to the second account and I didn't want them linked to the other! therefor I had to for the purposes of buying paid apps, by accessing the market place with the other account..... and there is no way of switching accounts for that!
i'm using the Samsung Apps (email, calendar, IM) that came with the phone
it's quite good, better than i expected
in the calendar each of my accounts have its own colour, so i know which Calendar entry comes from which Sync Account
this is like sooooooooo much better than what i used to have in Palm, Blackberry or Windows Mobile, those 3 are horrible, it was very difficult to have personal + work account in the same phone
but with Android, it's like a dream come true, everything is detailed to its own account, but all visible in 1 calendar
maybe you guys need to upgrade to the latest
Social Hub Push Email and IM

I'm using a stock 2.1 firmware with a Dutch device.
Does not work - frustrating.

Yeah as I said even if people dont beleive me... other than being able to edit the sync settings of the head account... There is no way of physically changing what the head account is or change the address of the head account. Yes you can add others but they will never become the head account. As I said had to reset mine to change it too.

This is my experience also. The first entered Gmail account is the only fully functional one the others have limited sync. Many hours and concluded reset is the only fix. Now I will have to repurchase some apps because the Market only talks to the first email account!!!! At least apple allows these basic changes. People have been complaining about this for ages when will google listen? I brought an Android device over Apple iPhone because I hated the lock in Apple does and needing iTunes for everything but find the Android is worse for useability. The only gain over iPhone so far is the Samsung has a bigger display and easier to type or swype. Maybe I am missing something and Android is better but not convinced at all at the moment. Unfortunatly you only find out after owning a device for a few weeks the limitations.

Hi,
If I add an entry on my HD7 it doesn't appear in my Google calendar. I manually sync as well as use the timed function but entries still won't go from the phone to Google calendar.
Whereas if I delete an entry on my phone, it gets deleted immediately from my Google calendar.
Has anyone got an idea how to get entries entered on the phone to appear in Google calendar?
Note: Windows Live is a dead loss with both contacts and calendar so Google might be my last chance of syncing Outlook & phone.
Cheers...

Does that mean you can add, edit and delete entries without problems with your Windows Phone to Google Calendar?
I have been doing that since day one and so far it has always worked like a charm.
Check your settings going to Settings\email & accounts\Google and make sure you are synchronizing the Calendar.
What I really find odd is the fact that the entries are deleted but not added...
Anyway, I add and delete things to the calendar in my HTC HD7 and they reflect to Google as soon as I sync and vice versa. It works!
As a foonote, MS calendar also works flawlessly.

Thanks for you post... whilst I find MS Calendar works fine (if starting from scratch), it's the fact that existing entries in Outlook wont's sync. I've found that custom categories, complex repeat reminder and attached pictures do not sync correctly. As with MS Contacts, the photos attached to each contact doesn't sync. Where as with Google Contacts and Calendar do.
Don't get me wrong, I'm in no way a fan of Google, I want to have my phone sync with my PC like I have for the past umpteen years; I don't want my private data uploaded 'somewhere in the cloud' possibly in another country with different privacy laws and complete strangers having access to it. As my MS Calendar has crashed completely now after trying to import from Google Calendar, the reliability is far from what they can expect people to use as a 'standard'.
I'll try creating a gash Google calendar from scratch and see if that can have entries added from my phone.
Thanks again...

It seems that my new google mail account works fine with outlook being sync'd using companionlink 4. The only reason I can think my older gmail account didn't work correctly is that I tried to link it to my ms live account. The ms live account is still dead and I see no way of getting it going, but my phone is now registered under it and apps downloaded against it... hence I'm stuck with it. Major screw-up by Microsoft imho... let's hope they do the right thing with the next update.
Alternatively... HTC provide their own FREE outlook sync'ing software for Android... why not Windows Phone?
Hi,
Previously I was using a Dell Streak and I was able to disable contact syncing with my Google accounts.
Actually I have 2 google accounts and I wanna sync only contacts with one of them.
On Galaxy Note , I couldn't find the setting to disable contact syncing with one account.
How can I do that ?
thx.
Hi,
I really need a solution for this because I've duplicate contacts now.
Any idea on how to delete contacts from one Google account on the phone ?

Go to contacts--Options--More--Accounts
Select the account you dont want your contacts to be merged from. Uncheck "Sync Contacts"
Hope that helped.

thanks. that option disables further sync of contacts from that account but it didn't delete the contacts coming from that account.
How can I delete existing contacts of that account ?
Also, I need the similar for calendar. Is there similar option ?

All'ite. Why don't you do this?
At this step you have disabled syncing your contacts to an account;lets call that account GAcc2. Lets call the account that you would like the contacts to be synced/Displayed from as GAcc1
Now you want to delete the contacts that have been synced from GAcc2.
So Go to Contacts--More--Display Options--Accounts and select contacts to be displayed only from GAcc2(i.e. uncheck the contact boxes for GAcc1). After this step the contacts that are displayed are only from GAcc2(the one you don't want). Simply select all the contacts and delete them. So this means we deleted "ONLY" GAcc2 contacts.
After this step again go to "Display Options" and under accounts select GAcc1.
and voila you will have only GAcc1 contacts left.
Do the same with calendar.
Hope that helped.
Cheers.
thank you. that's a good idea.
But when I delete from my Note, is there a risk of deleting them from Google acct GAcc2 ?
Also, some contacts are coming from both Google accounts. When I delete them, will I lose them from both accounts ?
And, how can I do that for calendar ? I can't find the correct app...
thx
Keep Auto Sync off, that will niether sync mail/contact/calender, when you need to sync it manually, just press on desire item n it will sync for that time only.
Further Now you can get Gmail with setup of Email application separately.

No that would be not an issue. Remember at that step you would have switched syncing to GAcc2 as "off". Just make sure you don't click "Merge with google".
If you are really scared and want to be backup proof i would suggest this;
I'm sure you would be having windows installed with Microsoft office. Microsoft office would have an app called microsoft exchange. Create a dummy account in exchange with a local Dat. Then go to google and search for tools to copy google contacts to exchange. There are plenty. Once you are done with that you would have a backup of your contacts. Similarly there are plenty of tools to do the reverse as well i.e. Microsoft Exchange -->Google server; this way you can restore it too.
Regarding the calendar its the same thing bro.
Browse to Settings-->Account and Sync--> select the account that you dont want calendar to be synced from-->Uncheck 'Sync Calendar'
Hope that helped.
Cheers.
Using Exchange Server with Android, without Google Contacts but with Market
THis post intended for people who use Exchange
Using Exchange Server with Android, without Google Contacts but with Market
To prevent your Google Accounts showing up in an Exchange Server minded device, uncheck autosync.
Create your Exchange account first, sync
Uncheck autosync
disable Wifi (your device must have slow connection)
Then add your google account.
Press Sync, but be DAMN fast to go to the account settings and quickly
uncheck the Contact,Calendar.
This way, you can have a fully Exchange server minded device, without
any junk from Google Downloaded, with Market access.
Hello there,
i am just trying to figure out how the lumia 920 works and got problems with the syncing of contacts etc.
i conected a microsoft account and the settings just say sync emails.. but obviously they sync contacts etc as well.
now my outlook.com people thingy show not the same stuff as my mobile phone.
got both connected to facebook and google.
but if i change something in google it doesnt show up on either of the machines.. so i used to sync a couple of times till my new google contacts where suitable.

Google and outlook contacts are kept separate. Changing a contact info on google will not affect the one on outlook and vice versa.

But why is the information on Outlook.com different to the information on the phone?
Sometimes the links sync. sometimes they dont.. sometimes i cant see the same contacts anyways.
And google info is not synced on outlook.com after i changed it.
you can edit on the phone the gmail contacts but they will not change on outlook.com.. on my side at least

Google info not changing is CORRECT. Although contacts are linked, they are treated as separate contacts. Editing an outlook contact will not affect a google one, even though they are linked.
As for why the info on your phone is different, it could be that your phone is displaying info from your google contact instead of from outlook.
However, I will admit sync is buggy. On my phone, contacts will sync, but sometimes, the phone number will not be synced to the phone, resulting in a black contact
The problems are worse on win8.but doesn't ur phone offer the option to edit on google ?from outlook.com i know its read only on google and also just on the first sync.really annoying

Hmm? I don't really understand what you wanted.
If you want to edit a google contact on your phone, it is possible. Unfortunately, my phone is still under repair, so I cant give you a step by step guide.
I have a client that has a Droid Turbo and is syncing his contacts with an Exchange Server. He has about 500 contacts in Outlook on his computer but when it syncs with the Droid he has about 4000.
I can not figure out where they are coming from. I did notice the extra contacts are coming from contact groups but I searched everywhere in Outlook and can not find them. I also synced by Note 4 to his account and only had 500 contacts. My phone did not bring in any groups.
Any ideas?

Check out my thread about a similar issue. Maybe this answers it... A solution would be great though haha
I am pretty sure you have an option to sync contacts when setting up the account. Is the device rooted? If so:
flash an image that has xposed installed and get that set up.
Download greenify
click the top right corner and go to experimental features
scroll down and enable reveal hidden sync
go to settings app
go to account section and then e-mail account
click the first button that tells you when the last sync was performed (not account settings)
The first option should be " * Contacts" which could be disabled
Its a long workaround but if you already have xposed and greenify like I did then it just a couple of clicks. You could also first try to remove the account and then set it up again, but I forget if that was really an option during setup or not
I have a Pixel 5 that I've been using Outlook on because I hate the gmail client, which has been working fine until now, when I'm trying to add a new Exchange account. I'm having two issues that may be somewhat related or not. As part of moving to the new server, I had to remove my old account. Before doing so, I moved all of my contacts from that account to the device. When I selected them all and then selected 'Move to another account', I was given the choice of moving to the device or to google. As I DO NOT want want my contacts in google, I moved them to my device. I then removed my old account, and proceeded to try to set up Outlook for my new account, which I end up getting 'The connection to your mail server times out. Please check your mail settings.'. The settings are correct, and other mail apps (gmail, nine, etc) work fine. Only Outlook refuses. About the only thing I've been able to find is Microsoft claiming it's because TLS 1.0 and/or 1.1 are enabled or it's a certificate issue. Well, it's not. The certificate is proper and trusted, and only TLS 1.2 is enabled on the server, 1.0 & 1.1 are disabled. Microsoft 'testconnectivity' site confirms that all is proper and functioning, including activesync.
I more or less gave up on Outlook for now, although if someone knows something I haven't found that'll make it work, that would be appreciated, however, at least for now, I decided to give Nine a shot, which may be a viable option. But that's where my other issue comes in. When I moved all of my contacts from my old account to my device, I was given the option of moving to my device or to my gmail account. Now, with my contacts on my device, when I select them all and try to move them, the only option is the gmail account. The 'Contacts' from the Nine app show up in the list of accounts when I go to select what account I want 'Contacts' to look in, and when I move a contact into my Exchange contacts, it shows up on my phone, and if I try to move the contact synced from Exchange via Nine, it give me the device and gmail options, but the phone refuses to give me an option to move my contacts that are on the phone anywhere other than gmail. Does anyone have any ideas why?
Thanks
Just to add - I dug out my old HTC phone and charged it up to do some further testing... using it's 'Exchange Activesync for HTC Sense' (which, in my opinion, is probably the best, most straightforward e-mail client I've ever used on an android phone), it works PERFECTLY. No stupidness, syncs things as expected, contacts and all. I set my account up on an older ipad that doesn't run the latest ios and thus won't run outlook, but with the native app, works perfectly. But my Pixel doesn't seem to know what the heck it wants to do. It seems like everything other than 'Outlook for Android' and my pixel knows what it should be doing and just does it, but my pixel is just out there running circles in the cornfield..... I also saw some bit where I could select WHICH contact lists to sync where there were more than one in the account, but I haven't been able to find that again, and have moved all 'contacts' folders out into a PST so that it's not trying to sync all of the different contacts folders when it does decide to sync something.
