Setting a default calendar when adding events

Hey guys, has anyone figured out how to set the default calender on the captivate when adding a calender event it always defaults to "my calendar" which is in the phone. Every time I add an event to my calender I would like it to go to my gmail calender instead of always having to change it.

I'm surprised nobody has run into this yet. Does anyone use their calendar???

yeah I have the same problem.
Couldn't find a setting to change it. I will play with it a little more right now.

Even went into settings while in calendar and unchecked the "my calendar" one - it still comes up as default.
No setting for it.

I haven't tried this yet, but if you add an event to "my calendar" does it still sync with the Gmail account? I assume no...

Anything on this issue yet? Isn't the point of a google phone to be able to integrate into google applications like calendar? This is a horrible feature on this phone which for me is a pain as i enter a lot of calendar entries daily. It worked just fine on my htc hero (as did the gps and contact groups...).

Did you go to Settings / Accounts and sync / your Gmail account, then check Sync Calander?

Yes. My gmail account syncs just fine. The problem is when you add an appointment to the calendar on the phone, it defaults to "my calendar" (which will not sync with google). I would like for it to default to my google calendar when adding an entry on the phone.

Try an alternative calendar app like Gemini Calendar or Jorte Calendar. They are both free and let you use your Google Calendar by default.
I chatted online with a Samsung person to find out if there was a way to make the Google calendar the default in the calendar app that comes with the phone. She claimed that she was able to sync an event from her phone calendar with her Google calendar, but the steps she told me to use did not work for me. I think she didn't understand what I was asking.

Im currently using Jorte and it is working fine. I hope samsung gets a fix for this as i do like the layout of the stock samsung calendar.

Ya same problem. after a reboot or something it gets checked back and im saving stuff onto the reguler calendar. seems like a bug.

has anyone found a solution to this problem?

Really?
Create an event, change the calendar where it is saved to your gmail account, click ok, SAVE EVENT. If you don't want the event, delete it.
Next time you create an event it will default to your gmail account.

I have no issue with the calendar.
Open the calendar app, press the menu button, select more, select setting, select calendars, un-check 'My Calendar' done.

This is not working for me. Is there an actual setting somewhere you can set to force the phone to do what it's supposed to do?

Facebook events and birthdays in HTC Calendar.

When my HTC Hero(GSM) was ky primary phone, I remember that I could have birthdays show up in the calendar, so I do not have to go to the Facebook application to see them. It was default on the hero but I can't figure out how to get it to work.
Also, I found myself envious of the new Blackberry Torch because through blackberry messenger, it adds your Facebook events to your calendar automatically. Does anyone know of a way to add this as well?

Two ways to do this that i have found.
One is to go to facebook on a the computer. Export the calendar, and then Import it into your google account. bleh
What i found today i think will do what you need.
Ebobirthday
can be found in the market. This will log into your face book account to sync with Birthdays. Then you can have it sync with the calendar inside the phone.
Hope that helps you somewhat.

This is sort of what I'm looking for, I still feel like there is a way to do this without having to resync that calendar information. Already in the phone if you pull up a contact, it does give the contact's birthday information, but for some reason it does not include that information in the calendar like it did on the Hero.
That app is a good temporary solution until I figure out how to get it to work just the way I want it. Thank you!
Edit: Playing around with it, I found a section in the menu that lets you add Calendars. In order for my Hero to have been able to sync birthdays to the calendar, there had to have been a Facebook calendar in that list, and there isn't one now. So I think to solve my problem it is just a matter of figuring out how to add Facebook to the HTC Calendar.

[Q] how to get my TD2 calendar to sync with Google Calendar?

Hopefully this is not a dump question, but could someone tell if it's possible to get my TD2 calendar to sync with Google Calendar? I get there by browser, but it would be nice to get the events in my Google Calendar to be shown in right in my TD2 calendar (the one shown in my today screen).
If so, is there a simple instructions for it, so that a beginner like me could get it right.

You can sync your Topaz with outlook. And sync outlook with google calendar. There is a tool to automatically sync outlook with google calendar

If you have unlimited data plan, then use ActiveSync to directly sync with your google account. You can sync emails, address book and Task as well.

I got the calendar sync'ed when I leave the other stuff (tasks, contacts...) unchecked. It seems that my TD2 gets only the first of my calendar categories from Google Calendar, as I have several of them. But thats better than nothing. With tasks and other stuff there is still something I don't get right, it keeps giving me 0x80004005 error.

Sorry, but Tasks cannot be sync with Google.

[Q] Google calendar Sync on Autonooter-ed NC

Newbie here...
I got my Nook Color a few days ago, rooted using auto-nooter 3.0.0
It's running 1.1.0 and so far the experience has been pretty good.
One question tho has to do with syncing the calendar with my google calendars. Right now I am able to sync with a public calendar, but I can't find a way for the calendar to use my google gmail credentials to sync with my non-public calendars (altho when I go into the calendar app -> Setting -. My Calendars the list of calendars that I subscribe to in my gmail account show up, which means to me that it has connected once to get this info).
Any suggestions?

If you open your gmail app and add your google account again, it will give you the option to sync the calander at the end.

I cannot thank you enough! This is one of the biggest things I was looking to get resolved, and what a straightforward solution! I've modded my DX and feel totally comfortable working with it and CWR, but I'm really struggling with the NC and this is a win for me as I make small steps in my understanding. Thanks again

I installed Calengoo, which I have also used on my iPod Touch to sync with Google Calendar seamlessly

Keep in mind that to KEEP it synced, you'll need to use Synker or some other similar application. It won't sync automatically. There's a few threads with people saying they've managed to make it work one way or another, but I've never managed it myself.

So you add an event on the web side and it syncs automatically to the NC? Damnit, why can't I get this to work.... You're using stock B&N rom with auto nooter or other rooting process, right?

Correct. I had to double check this today, and yes, it works! I add something on my computer (using a web browser) into Google Calendar, and almost immediately it shows up in the calendars of my Nook Color and Nexus One.
I'm using the stock ROM (1.1.0) with auto nooter (3.0.0). I followed the instructions above to re-add the Gmail account, and automagically the calendar started auto-syncing! (I have Touch Calendar, but also Jorte and Calendar Pad installed, but I don't think that has anything to do with it?)
I hope you will get yours to work too, and I'll be happy to answer any more questions you have.

is there an app or something that sync facebook with contacts so when sombody call i can see his picture?

Its easy no app is needed its already built in
On your phone go to settings - accounts and sync
In there you can add account and login to your facebook and there will be options to sync calendar and contacts
Just know it will add all your friends from facebook, and if your like me you don't want half those people in there, and also if your like me and you synced your google contacts you'll have doubles, just select one of the double contacts hit your menu button select Join Contact and then select the other double and it will merge the info

sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong but you have to sync all contacts and just delete the ones your don't want, shouldn't take you that long.

when you install the facebook app from android you have the option to sync contacts only during set up.
