I have been using the HTC Desire for about 2 months but I am just fascinated with the 4" captivate. I am really thinking of ditching my Desire for the Captivate - going from Froyo to Eclair. Anyone know why I shouldn't? Thanks
You should ditch the desire. Captivate is much nicer. I am willing to take the desire off your hands. How much you want for it.

Prior to getting the Captivate, I had to choose between the Desire and the Captivate too.
Unfortunate as it is, the one major advantage the Desire had was simply because it was an HTC phone. On XDA, being an HTC phone means better support. If XDA support is a dealbreaker for you, then keep the desire. Otherwise, the Captivate is pretty much superior in every way.

Hey guys I'm not meaning to troll at all im just very curious as to the motive of this phone or what is exactly different from the original incredible (besides bands) that makes it worth the cost of a recent new phone. If I remember right both this and the incredible 2 have similar processor speed and slightly different screen size and ffc? Are these correct? Sorry and if I'm missing something please correct me. If you consider me being a jack ace feel free to ignore this.

If I remember it right, Incredible S and Incredible 2 are essentially the same phone but they're for different 3G networks.
Basically Incredible S is a modified version of Desire HD with more compact screen and better battery life.
Hey so I have had this captivate for a while now and I love it, especially because I know how to put roms on and everything. I want to upgrade guys what phone would you upgrade to? The galaxy s2 is the obvious answer but what else? Thanks

Has anyone noticed from the HTC Inspire's UI is much smoother, quicker than the HTC Vivid? On the HTC Inspire I have also noticed the browser does not lag. The stock browser found on the HTC Vivid is quite laggy and quite choppy. What are ways to improve the performance on the Vivid?
The Inspire originally came with Sense 2.0, which is A LOT less resource intensive, likely the reason why it's smoother. The new Sense 3.0 that was later released for the Inspire (in its stock form, not custom optimized versions) for me is no smoother than the Vivid, I actually think the Vivid is does a better job. I have also found the Vivid to be smoother on the browser end as well.

I honestly find it to be the exact opposite for me. This is by far the best phone that I have used straight out of the box.
Not much you can do to improve performance until the boot-loader is unlocked. You can uninstall all of the AT&T crap that you are able to. I was able to remove it all except for the AT&T Navigator. That will make sure none of it is running in the background using up your memory.
I think the stuff about carrier software slowing down the phone is a myth. Those apps don't do crap, so if a phone lags, it is not because of them. Yes I hate them but uninstalling those apps doesn't speed up your phone, there are many other reasons to uninstall those apps. I honestly don't know why this phone was released with sense 3.0 and android 2.3.4 when all the new phones coming out have sense 3.5. At&t has enough android phones now but they still don't care about them as much as they should.
The only thing I miss from my Inspire is free mobile hotspot..... I would really like to get that working on LTE
This phone is totally rad...slaps all over my inspire and infuse. The stock experience is leaps ahead of any phone I have ever owned. Of course rooting, overclocking, and tweaks bring other phones up to speed. But as far as a stock experience goes viva the vivid. Take yours back and get a new one if it has lag.

Plus 1000 to this. This is easily the best phone I've ever used out of the box. I have zero lag. Not a bit. I took the skyrocket back for it and have no regret. It's just better overall to me.

Maybe because sense 3.5 is a Verizon exclusive.

Perhaps it is the stock browser i'm using that causes the lag. what kind of browser do you guys use?

Sense 3.5 isn't a Verizon exclusive, tmo has the amaze which also runs it and I believe the sensation xl had it also but not sure if that phone will release here or not.
Overall the only changes I'd make to the vivid is unlocking the bl and I would have made it a little lighter.

The Amaze runs 3.0 just like the Vivid does. The only 3.5 phones in the US are on Verizon.

XDA's vote for the best smartphone of 2011 is here! Sadly, the Incredible S wasn't in the list, nor any other single-core phones which came out this year.
Is any one else disappointed in this?
Of course, dual-core phones have more raw power under the hood, but does it really make them that much better? Physical build quality is an important aspect to take into consideration as well. Furthermore, as far as the single-core phones go, I personally believe that the Incredible S deserves some merit as one of (if not the) best.

My phone is better than any damn single core phone out there....hell I would even dare to say that this is the best single core phone HTC ever built(android of course )

Don't you mean it's better than any dual core phones?

I'm happy with the phone I have, but to be honest I wouldn't rate it as phone of the year. There have been too many newer, faster phones since which have all its features and more.
Incredible S is a very good phone, much underrated

Underrated is the right word. It's a shame because of the timing of its release it got drowned by the media with HTC's own Sensation...

Why do you care about these polls. Just be happy with your phone and that's it. IncS is a great phone!

and sometimes misleading.
have you ever considered how many people actually vote and what percentage of people are voting for a phone they already have while other phone owners dont even vote.
i never rely on polls.
eyah.. really disappointment/
I am happy with my inc s but i'd swap it instantly for a sensation xe

Incredible S is the best single core phone HTC has ever made. I wouldn't expect the Incredible S to beat out a dual core phone for phone of the year. If there was a poll for the best single core phone the winner will either be the Incredible S or Nexus S. Devs on Xda love the Nexus S.

Cheer up
We all think incredible s is a good phone
Hey guys! my Incredible S has been habi g issues with the charging lately, and dust has got into the front facing camera so I'm thinking some time soon it might be time to upgrade.
I have recently been offered a few phones and would appreciate your input,
The first is a HTC sensation, also a HTC vivid, a Motorola DROID RAZR, and a galaxy s2 lte
Which one would you go for? Or should I wait until my ics completely dies? All phones are being offered for 300 except the sensation at 250

Check each forum to see how active the devs are.
Personally id go with the galaxy or wait for other dual cores to drop in price.

check out forums on each device. For me its either, stick with ur Inc S, get sensation (they will have quite.a.few.sense 4 Rome or get.the s2
