I want to flash my touch hd with my sd card.
give me step to step info.
1: download the ROM to your storage card
2: UNZIP the ROM using the 7zip utility found here
http://www.qweas.com/downloads/syste...ws-mobile.html
3: Rename the unzipped ROM image from ******.nbh to BLACIMG.nbh
4: Move the BLACIMG.nbh file from the folder you unzipped it to accross to the ROOT of the SD Card
5: (This is important) Press and hold the volume DOWN button ONLY, not the up button as if you were hard resetting
6: when you see the 3 colour boot screen it WILL change to a screen asking if you want install the new ROM upgrade, press the power to start the install
7: Finally when finished remove the battery to power the handset down and then reinsert and restart the phone Hard resetting twice before allowing it to boot fully for the first time.
Good Luck

bootloader = camera + softreset
and flshing from sd - never worked for me
ok...well can i flash from my usb or whatever???if so do you know where i can get a compatible version for my p4300/wizard.
for those of us with mac's and non windows desktops<it would be nice to have a wayto flash from minisd! I can only remember how easy it was back when I used my zaurus 5500.
Please use the search function because I know 4 sure it is described in these forum, since I have done it myselves.
But once again:
1 BackUp your Herald (if possible)
2 Format your micro-sd card with FAT32
3 Unpack the .nbh file of the Rom you want to use if needed
4 Rename the .nbh file to Heraimg.nbh and place this file, and only this file onto your micro-sd card.
5 Place the micro-sd card in your Herald
6 Put the Herald in bootloader-modus by pressing simultanious camera- and comm. manager button and performing a softreset. Keep pressing both buttons until the bootlaoderscreen appears.
7 Your screen will display the instructions to press the key on the left side of your device (slide the volumebar down)
8 Follow the instructions as displayed.
9 After flashing perform a hard reset as prompted!
10 Tada
But; before flashing by micro-sd:
- Make sure your device is fully charged
- Flashing is always on your own risk and neither I or anyone else can be held responsibl if anything goes wrong
This methode cab also be used when unbricking your device if no pc-connection is possible/available

Errrr..... wrong thread... lol
With some fantasy I interpreted your post as "for me this method did not work"
If it didn't work, you screwed up somewhere...but no need to worry...what exactly didn't work?
In your future post please do not only mention something doesn't work but include which part didn't work and what went wrong.

There is 2 methods mate:
1. SD Card method
Copy BLACIMG.NBH into the root dir of your Storage Card.
Be sure to have at least 30% of charge.
Turn off your device by using the Power Button.
Go to Boot loader mode. Push and hold Vol. Down + press Power button.
Be sure that Device is connected to PC first before inputting the Storage card
Input Storage card when you see USB displaying on screen.
Now run USPL (If you have aleady run USPL before this or if you have HSPL on device ignore this part).
If all instruction is followed device will start upgrading through Storage Card.
Always ensure that you run USPL before flashing any rom when using USPL method.
2. RUU.exe method
Extract BlackStoneCustomRuu.exe from attached file.
Put BLACIMG.NBH and BlackStoneCustomRuu.exe into same folder on your pc
Be sure to have at least 50% of charge.
Turn off your device by using the Power Button
Go to Boot loader mode. Push and hold Vol. Down + press Power button.
Connect your device to PC
Run BlackStoneCustomRuu.exe and follow the screen instructions.
For noobs to flashing, I'd recommend 2nd method
Hope this helps
Hi everyone,
I have had this new xperia and love it, I have decided I would like to update my rom but want to make sure I have not missed anything.
If it's not to much to ask can someone let me know if this guide is missing any steps.
my phone and me are both virgins.
Thanks
------------------------------------
Preperation:
1. First lets download all that you will need in order to flash your rom.
Hard_SPL_X1_V1-
And of course download any custom rom made for the X1 of your choice...that is all you will need!
2. Extract the HardSPL somewhere on your pc, you might aswell extract the rom file somewhere on your pc too.
3. Connect your phone via activesync to your pc
4. When you are connected, (I let it finish synchronising one last time, to ensure all of the data on my pc was up to date with the current data on my phone), you then go to where you extracted "X1_HardSPL.exe" and you run it...
5. Follow the instructions at some point it should say something like "Image Version: 1.02.111.7" to "1.00.X1"
When asked, press "Yes" on the X1
6. - Now a Tri-color screen should show up, showing some version Information
After that, a progressbar screen will be shown and the phone will reboot when finished
Click "Finish" on the PC
(To check if you succeeded, turn the device off (long power button press). Then hold the volume down button and turn the device on again, still holding the volume down button until the Tri-color screen shows up. It should read something like:
KOVS110
SPL-0.72.OliNex
MicroP1-787
MicroP2-707)
Remove and reinsert the battery to exit bootloader mode
You completed the first step and are now able to flash any ROM you want to your X1! (Well, at least any ROM made for the X1 of course ;-))
Steps 2-6 need only to be done once...from here on forward should you wish to flash another rom you do not need to install HardSPL again as it is already on your phone.
Flashing your Rom (The fun begins):
7. Rename the rom file you downloaded from whatever.nbh (usually it is ruu_signed.nbh) to Kovsimg.nbh (you can rename it on your pc or on your phone once you have transferred it over)
8. Start up the phone normally, if you have not already done so...then connect it to your pc...(at this point you can connect it without activesync, just as a memory card reader so that you can copy over your rom faster)
Copy your rom into the root of the memory card.
(You can also use any external memory card reader/writer connected to the pc and copy over the file)
Remeber to make sure all files have been deleted off your memory card.
9. Insert the memory card into the phone (You never know somebody might forget to do it :-S )
10. Turn off the phone completely, not standby mode (USB cable must not be attached)
11. Remove and reinsert the battery (This step can be skipped if you made sure you turned off the phone in step 10, this is just in case somebody put the phone in standby instead)
12. Hold down the volume down button and press the power button while still holding both of these buttons until the tri-color screen pops up.
13. Follow the onscreen instructions (It should install the rom +-5mins)
14. When you see the screen say "Succesfully updated", you can then go ahead and remove the battery and reinsert it.
Getting ready to see results (one last step):
Do not skip this step!!! This may result in errors!!!
15. Do a hard reset : Hold down the two silver buttons directly under the screen, while holding them down push the power button, you should then be presented with a screen that asks you to press "R" to reset your device....so go ahead and flip open the keyboard and press "R", when it completes it will ask you to press "Spacebar" to restart the device...go ahead..
16. You are done!
You have now flashed your rom....after it restarts please note the first time it starts up again will take longer than normal, you will be presented with all the normal setup's as you first did when you got your phone...
Like stylus setup and time and date etc...
With this particular rom that I flashed approximately 3/4mins after getting to the today screen a notification came up asking me to choose my operator and it then installed all the necessary connection settings for me....
You may also be asked to restart the device once more after the initial startup of the new rom, this is because upon first start up the rom may install some additional programs / cabs / tweaks which the "cooker" has cooked into the rom....
I cant think of anything more at this point, I tried to be as detailed as possible with this guide and use as much lame-man's terms as possible to make it clear and understandable....
If you have any queries please do not hesitate to post under this thread and I will answer to the best of my knowledge...
Once again thanks to XDA-Developers from whom I have learnt all of the above....

Check this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=477801
The only way to know which ROM is best for you is to try each of them out and see how it "fits" your personality.
Enjoy flashing!
I have not had time to do the rom flash, and might find a few hours tomorrow.
I have one last question, has any one done flashed a virgin phone in windows 7?
thanks
Need some assistance, I'm at the step where I have copied the rom to my sd card, I have renamed it to Kovsimg.nbh
I hold volume down and power on, i get a message no image file found.
I'm trying to use Jack_3.5b_Full.
I have formated the the flash memory to fat32, the rom is the only file on the card.
I have started the phone and I can see the memory card ok and the flash file.
Does any one have any idea's?
Thanks

ADB and FASTBOOT
Q. What is ADB?
A. ADB is a source tool for developers and avid android modders such as yourself to access the commands prompt of your phone through your PC. This allows full access to your phone through your computer which makes moving, installing, removing, and replacing files on your phone MUCH faster
Q. What is fastboot?
A. Similar to ADB, this allows you in flash a while img to any partition in your phone, including recovery, system, and user-data.
To setup ADB and Fastboot, please follow my very detailed guide found HERE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Difference between a Boot-Loop, Semi-Brick, and a full Brick
Boot-Loop
Q. What is a Boot-Loop?
A. A boot loop is when your phone is stuck on the "ANDROID" screen when u first boot your phone (after the G1 screen or the My Touch screen). This occurs when something you have flashed went bad or interfeared with something you already had installed.
Solution:
1. Turn off your phone
2. Enter Recovery (Hold HOME while holding the POWEr button)
3. Choose from the following:
- Install a rom you KNOW works. Such as the latest cyanogenROM or the rom you have been preivously using
or
- Make a full wipe of your SD Card an phone and flash your update again
Semi-Brick
Q. What is a Semi-Brick?
A. A Semi-Brick is when your phone wont boot at all. The only thing is, you still have access to the recovery and/or fastboot menu
Solution:
Brick
Q. What is a Brick?
A. A Brick is when your phone wont boot at all. This time, you DO NOT have access to the recovery AND fastboot menu. Basically, your phone is a paper weight.
Solution:
You can try this fix here which requires a Donor G1 to work:
HERE
OR

No need to panic. As long as you can access the Blue Android Logo, you are fine.
Please list, step by step, what you did (including ROM Version Numbers).
Also - you might want to try flashing/wiping your phone. That seems to take care of many issues, but I'd still like to see what you did.

[TUTORIAL] How to bring ur phone to original state.
1. Download your stock rom here (Make sure it’s the right provider and language): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=475482
stockrom: the original rom, made by SE.
2. Extract the file you downloaded from the previous step.
3. Now you have two choices:
1: flash with your micro sd card
2: flash via your computer
4. 1: flash with your micro sd card:
5. Rename the file you extracted to “KOVSimg.nbh” (yeah, change the extension!) Than place the file in root of your micro sd card. Than hold your battery out for 1 second…put it in. Hold ur volume down button and power button on for a while until you are at the bootloader. Wait…. When it asks for it push the power button. And wait for it to finish the flashing. After you finished that hold your battery out and put it back in.
6. 2: flash via your computer:
7. Rename the file you extracted to “ruu_signed.nbh” (yeah, change the extension) put it in the same map as this file (http://www.multiupload.com/LX2ZJKCTQH). Run customRUU.exe. Follow the instructions….
8. Now the original ROM is back on your Phone
9. If you touched the radio than put back the original radio. See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=477801
10. When you have the original radio and ROM on ur Phone, it’s time to Make your spl original:
11. Be carefull: always install the radio and the ROM first!!!!!
12. Follow this link: : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=431218. Download the following files: X1_HardSPL_v1.zip and ruusigned_072stockspl.zip.
13. Extract the First one. run x1_hardspl.exe. extract the next one. Copy it to the map u runned x1_hardspl.exe in and overwrite. Then follow the instructions…
14. Check if you’re done by going to your bootloader again. If it says 0.72.0000 you’re DONE!!
15. If it says olinex ur not doen and have to check this tutorial again…
Good luck!

Hi Ben,
nice initiative, but the procedure is already in an sticky, and there's even made a movie about it made by biovolt http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=497511
So i'm going to request the mod to close this thread.
Don't get mad about this, but if everyone is going to do this the forum will be loaded by this kind of threads.
But keep up the good work Benpontiac
Indeed.
I will not delete the information, despite it being covered elsewhere. It is clear info and simply laid out. I will close the thread though in order that pre-existing threads are used.
