I'm having weirdness, running stock rom, rooted -bloatware and I installed launcher pro, since then, I can't connect with kies/mtp unless twlauncher is running. is this normal?
Yupp. It's normal. Kies/MTP only work with the TWLauncher running.

I am trying to install the GB stock launcher on CM7 but if I install it from recovery using the package found here:

I am getting boot loop and if I try to install the apk which is removed from within that package, I am getting "Application not installed" message. Does anybody know how to install it?
What is the best way to install the stock launcher? I know that there are some in the market but those does not appear to offer any sort of settings? (eg. change number of home screens etc.)

That is not the stock launcher, that is a 'modded' stock launcher. I tested it actually and it works much slower and uses more memory compared to the stock launcher. Not to mention, it is crashing... everything started working again after I removed it from my phone. (it makes you wonder, what else might be modified and why it is called 'stock launcher' when it is not).
I removed Launcher2.apk from Bugless Beast (V. GPA19) Android 2.3.7 ROM and it works much better.
I have a rooted stock i9000 from the UK on the Orange network. I have had a problem for a while now and I am unable to find a solution.
The issue is that when I try to install an alterantive launcher (whether it be Launcher pro or Go launcher ex), the phone will vibrate, go black and will not operate as normal. The only thing I am able to do once this happens is to long press the home button, go to task manager, then package, and uninstall the alternative launcher such that the phone defaults back to the stock launcher and then works again as normal.
I have tried restoring factory settings but this does not solve the issue. Please help as I want to be able to use alternative launchers.
have you tried clearing the data for the stock launcher and clear defaults on the same page?
What version of firmware are you currently running and what apps?
Do you install new launcher from market?

How many apps u have install on your device? You have stock ROM, maybe u don't have enough system place for alternative launcher( RAM)?? Try to clean some ram memory
Hey, so I recently rooted my phone (S-On) and flashed Virtuous Inquisition. Whenever I turn my phone off though, all of my changes to the homescreen or launcher settings are lost. It is as if everything is being reset. All of my apps are still there though (not the shortcuts, but the physical apps themselves). Thanks in advance!
I dislike the default launcher that comes with the G Flex, so I installed Nova Launcher. Upon trying to open my gallery app, I get the error message that I quoted for the title of this thread. The gallery app works fine with the LG launcher. My question is this: is there any way to fix the gallery app? I've tried clearing the app's data and cache, to no avail.
If there is no way to fix it, would it be possible to pull an AOSP gallery app from a G2 or Nexus 5 ROM and install it?
EDIT: It seems that none of the LG apps work with Nova Launcher.

I'm using Kit Kat and I'm rooted, but it was doing that before I rooted. I reverted to stock JB (which did not have the same problem), rooted it then, and couldn't reproduce the problem. I reverted to stock again, ran the KK update, installed Nova, and had the same problem. I rooted the phone again, after confirming that the problem still exists.
I've got a few ROMs on my computer, like CM 11 and the new Sprint update for the LS995. I'm wondering if I can just pull the apps I need out of one of those zip files.
I dont know about mixing/using files from other roms..I would probably factory reset first, and see if that helps..if you are rooted, you can grab the GFlex Cache wiper program and try wiping dalvik/cache and see if that helps too
I've already done a factory reset and cleared the cache via the recovery. I'll try the app you spoke of, though. Now I just need to find it...
EDIT: That didn't work. Would it be possible for anyone to pull at least the gallery apk off of their phone and upload it? I'll try to install it using ADB.
EDIT AGAIN: Screw it. I'm going to back up all my crap, revert to stock, redo the update, and root it again. I'll try to see if I can't pull the APKs myself and try reinstalling them. It probably won't work, but it's worth a shot.
ANOTHER EDIT: I figured out what the problem is. I have my DPI set to 220, which apparently breaks the LG apps. I want to keep my DPI setting where it is more than I want to use the broken LG apps, so I'm going to attempt to use the AOSP gallery and see what happens.
YET ANOTHER EDIT: Trying to install the 4.4.2 AOSP gallery apk didn't work. It wouldn't install at all. I found an app in the Play Store that mimics the 4.3 gallery, and it seems to cover my needs for now. Thanks for the advice. It really helped me narrow down the cause of my problem.
I accidentally uninstalled the system launcher using adb on my Realme 8i with locked bootloader, no root. My gesture navigation bar doesn't work (recent apps manager doesn't work), some of my settings disappeared. It's unusable like that. I haven't rebooted it because I'm afraid it will bootloop or get bricked. Can someone tell me how to fix this issue? I've tried installing the launcher apk from websites but they didn't work. I managed to decompile the firmware and get the launcher apk, but it's odexed. And it also has a .vdex file which I couldn't find anything about. I bought the phone 4 months ago and I use it as a daily driver. I really need help with fixing this.
