I manually updated to the stock version of froyo frg01b and then installed an overclocking kernel, a p3 kernel and when I try to install update.zip to go to frg22d I keep getting an error and it won't allow me to do it. Can anyone help me figure out what I need to do in order to have the newest version? I would like to do it without having to wipe data and cache. Thanks in advance for any help!!
Backup all data n apps and bookmarks with titanium backup.. even call log and txt messages..
Then do a cache and dalvik wipe.. then retry. It always helps to try n redownload the file. It may have gotten corrupt

Is it possible to update the current ROM version without wiping the data and apps installed on the current ROM version.
Currently I'm using squadzone's ver5.2 and I'm planning to use the ver5.3.
Can I just install the ver5.3 without wiping my current data and apps?

Though this is not recommended, you can try not to wipe data and apps.. If your phone boots to homescreen after you flash 5.3 without wiping, well and good.. But if you get stuck on the boot splash screen, you have no choice but to do a data wipe.. Best option is to backup app data with TBP (Titanium) and restore them after you do a clean flash, that is wiping data/reset, wiping cache..
Hope you press the Thanks button if my post helps..
kitrax59, it is not so bad as you think. I tried lots of times to jump from one CyanogenMod to other without wiping, and it worked rather OK. i didnt notice any problem. ecyaj, you may not wipe, but if you notice some bugs - it is recommended to wipe data
Thanks for the info GallardoSD..., but it was too late. I just wipe everything and installed squad's new v5.4. I used TBP and did restore them after flashing. It was just I need to setup everything again...
Hi
I'm experiencing these issues during last days:
-Market doesn't download or actualize nothing (Error 492)
-Phone shuts off randomly
-I cannot load CWM recovery
These are my phone specifications:
-V20o Official Leaked Rom
-Horsepower extreme 24BPP RC11 Kernel
-Hp v20o tweaks
-Fast Dormancy Logging fix
-Scrolling Cache Disabler for smoother scrolling
-CWM Touch Custom Recovery installed flashing a zip encountered on xda
I'm experiencing these problems after I installed CM9 beta-rom (and the proper google apps) and then I went back to the V20o doing three wipes and restoring a previous Nandroid Backup
Any suggestion?
Thanks
The problem is I think touch recovery. It contains a bug when your wiping cache. The problem is that after wiping it, it won't rebuild, so this will crash your market and may also cause the other problems.
What you could do is change your recovery.
Thank you very much
So I should not wipe cache when i run a Nandroid restore?
I ask you this 'cause when, after installing CM9 (doing three wipes procedure), i rebooted into recovery to restore Nandroid backup and it seemed to work well. I began to experience problems when I loaded Rom after it.
Anyway is there any chance to reinstall old version CWM without reinstalling the Rom?

The problem occurs after every cache wipe, because it should rebuild after every wipe and that's the problem.
The easiest way to reinstall a CWM version is using ROM Manager and restore to CWM version 5.0.2.0. I know it's kinda old, but it'll do good enough.
EDIT: If you for some reason really don't like CWM 5.0.2.0, look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1478995
You can find a flashable zip somewhere of CWM 5.0.2.7
Touch Recovery i had was flashed from that .zip file you're telling me! Anyway i tried to install old CWM version in Rom Manager but it didn't resolve the problem.
I will manage to reinstall everything.
Hello , i have a problem that started happening after I installed KD1 modem, i'm running Slim ICS 3.2 mnics-143 kernel ... I try to send SMS and always says sending failed... I tried installing stock modems like JVU , JVT but still same error happens ... Anyone with some experience that can help?
tyvm...
Have you tried clearing the data from the sms app? (This may delete your messages, use sms backup and restore to back them up)
You should have made a nandroid backup before flashing the modem, do this next time so you have a easy way to revert...
If the above does not work then you may have to reflash the rom...
First try clear cache and dalvik and see if that works if you haven't already. And if that doesn't then do the following,
Make a nandroid and back it up on your computer (just to be extra safe).
Flash with no wipe but this has caused further problems for me before where i started getting multiple apps force closing. At a slim possibility it may cause a boot loop. If any of this happens, then just do a wipe and flash, wipe cache and dalvik before flashing. (You may have to flash the rom twice (Not very likely).
I'we tried that reverted back to GB and still i cant send sms... anyone with any hint on why or what? i can receive sms no problem but fail to send em..
ahh i now see message centre not set think that is the issue ...
Device
PT1000N 2.3.3 (Kies upgrade) then rooted using ODIN (several months ago, do not remember which process)
Starting problem
I was using go launcher and frozen samsung home apps using root uninstaller pro. Then installed a driver companion, tablet hung. After reset:
"Sorry The application Samsung Home (process com.sec.android.app.twlauncher) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
What I did
tried to flash back to 2.3.3 using heimdall, no fail messages (first)
hard reset
What I get now
It takes 1 hours aprox (no kidding) then displays error messages for loading swipe, system and other apps. Runs VERY slow and hangs at some point.
Once showed message "UUIDs inconsistent" or something alike ...
Also notice that all installed apps and eve my google credentials are still on the system. Such info should be erased by hard reset (I suppose).
Tried other rooms, tried flashing with ODIN
Big Question:
What can be done ?
TIA
What happened when you try odin? what error msg did you get?
Did you do a full wipe(factory reset, data cache, and dalvik) in recovery after flash?
Side note: for future reference, you should try freeze command in gemini app manager first before uninstalling any systemapps.
You should have done a nandroid backup from CWM before tweaking any sytem apps or data. You would have been able to restore from cwm.
EDIT: May we know whicb ROM and kernel you flashed?

There are plenty of GB 2.3.3 and most of them are for P1000.
Are you sure yours is for P1000N?
GB 2.3.3 for P1000N should read: P1000NUBJP7
how about yours?
Please check it at Settings > About Device
Download your firmware from http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/ you will have a choice of 2.3.5 or 2.3.6 even.
But word of warning.. it's not easy to root 2.3.5 or 2.3.6.
I'm currently running the latest CM9 on it with moboot... It seems like every time it boots up it pops up with that error message and literally won't go away and you have to reboot the device.. the only way I've found to temporarily fix it is to just wipe cache.... but it always comes back.
Is there any way to prevent this from popping up? It happened when I was on Classicnerd BUTTA too.
Wipe the system and caches, then reflash
I had this problem as well a while back. Wiping caches and reflashing the ROM worked for me.
And you guys didn't have the problem again, after that?
Help manually moving contacts and choosing a JB ROM.
If a pro could help me out I would appreciate it very much. I have been trying to move from a dangerous ICS build to JB and I am having this same problem.
My N7000 previously had this on it:
android 4.03
radio 19220zclp6
kernal version 3.0.15-i9220zclp1-cl131270 (bad ics kernal)
build number midnote 2.0 iml74k.zclp1
So I used ODIN to flash it to a GB rom but I got the com.android.process error and my phone would lock up.
So then I found this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997 and flashed this ROM "N7000UBLR3 N7000UVOLR1 - Download - Argentina" from the bottom of the page. I wiped only the the cache (not the phone reset) and flashed it again but I still get the process error and phone locking up. I don't even know if this ROM is a safe ROM!!
Am I even on a safe kernal now? kernal n7000ublr3-cl890184 build imm76d.ublr3
What I need help doing is the following.
1. Before doing a full wipe, I need to either manually save my contacts to my PC or back them up. (no apps work but my pc can browse my phone) If I knew where my contacts were located, maybe I can manually copy them to my pc? So any help saving data from a partially unusable phone would help.
2. Flash to a safe GB rom, so I can then do the full wipes safely and then flash to a stable JB rom. (I have no clue which roms to choose here and need help).
Thanks for any help..
