Laptop housing? - Off-topic

Hello guys,
Does anyone know if I can replace my laptop's housing ( the whole casing)? Is it possible to buy directly and install?

Well, we'd need to know the type of laptop. Judging from your posting in other threads, you have a Vaio. Check eBay, that's your best bet.

Where to buy HTC mainboards?

I've recently gotten into the hobby of buying broken phones and reselling them for just enough more to cover my costs. (that's why i'm calling it a hobby).
However, I recently purchased a pretty smashed up Tilt - it needed a new LCD and an entirely new housing.
After investing that $140, I've come to find that the mainboard is probably bad, as it wont power on.
Rather than toss my money in the crapper, I want to see about replacing the mainboard, but cant find ANYONE who sells them online...perhaps I'm searching by the wrong terms, but I'm no web n00b...and I'm coming up blank.
Does anyone know of a reputable website whereby I can purchase items like the mainboard for the Tilt? Does anyone who reads these forums WORK for HTC, and like to strike a deal?
Please, PM me if you know anyone that sells these hard-to-find HTC parts...
Thanks!!
- M
I have thousands of HTC Parts, unfortunately I dont have any of the Tilt Boards, but let me know if you need anything else and I will have a look.
Do you have a website thru which you sell them? I am actually in need of either an LCD for an 8525 with the gold ribbon cable, or the flex cable for an 8525 for use with an LCD with the black ribbon cable (stupid of HTC to make 2 different configurations for the same model, dont you think?)

HTC Himalaya mainboard, GSM version?
I have one with water damage to the mainboard and a problematic dock port, would be a shame to scrap it, the LCD and digitizer both work, and when the battery is charged it works perfectly, apart from when it comes to syncing (problematic port) (and if you don't just have HTC parts, I am also looking for a mainboard for a nokia 6300 and an LCD / Digitizer for an HP Ipaq 2210 / 2215 lol)
pm me if you have any of this stuff please
The mini usb has failed on my Trinity. Do I need a new main board? If so do you have one?

Motherboard replacement

Hey everyone,
I got my Tilt in April and at that time AT&T did not offer phone inssurance for it. The far right side of my mini-usb port is bent a little and this makes it a bit picky about charging and syncing. AT&T said it voided my warranty and that they couldn't do anything and told me to call HTC and they said I would have to replace my WHOLE MOTHERBOARD. They also said it would cost $305 to replace the whole thing.
My question: is there anything I can do about this myself? I am so concerned because I would like to sell this to a friend but get the port fixed if possible. Is there any other way to get AT&T to get me a new tilt or fix "something else wrong with it"? I can still sell it to my friend but I could get a bit more for it if this was fixed.
Thank you for any help.
You can fix this yourself by installing a new mini plug, they are fairly cheap, there is a few threads that have discussed how to do this yourself , if you do not mind taking apart your tilt...
Check the Wiki out as well
Or maybe I could have just been rude and told you to search just like you did to another user earlier...hmmmm
That was a fairly obvious question. I have not been able to find any specific threads about this for the kaiser. Also did not find it in the wiki. But it would be easy to over look seeing as I must type all this from my phone because my computer is dead at the moment. I will look tomorrow at school.
put in mini plug in this forums search , there are a couple of threads with decent info in them.. one of them has a link to taking the kaiser apart, and also has a link to a place the has the mini plug for $15 and also will says they will install it for $79....not bad if you do not have the skills..
PPC Techs are the ones offering the service

Since my soldering skills suck, this is what I would do...

X1 Damage

Hi, this is my first post but I have been following this forum frequently. I want to say thanks in advance for any advice.
I dropped my X1 (a couple of times) and there is a lot of aesthetic damage. So, I was wondering a few things:
1. Can I purchase replacement parts; just the parts that are damaged?
2. If I can purchase replacement parts, can I purchase black parts? I currently have the silver X1 that I purchased from Best Buy and I wanted the black version. I figured if I am going to replace parts, I might be able to replace them with a black "body kit" maybe?
3. Is there a tutorial on this website (I've tried searching but I couldn't find anything) of how to replace the parts?
Once again, I want to say that I tried searching but I couldn't find anything (I hope I don't get yelled at for asking such a dumb question as my first post) and thanks.

Welcome to the posting brotherhood .
It really depends how good you are with electronics. If you fell confident enough to do the repairs yourself, then by all means, try it. Otherwise, purchase the parts and go to o a professional repair shop.

Thanks for the help, the videos definitely makes things easier. I'll post pics as soon as I begin to show the damage and then I'll take pics throughout the repair so I can post them.

No service and severed coax cable

Good news is I am now a proud G1 owner! Bad news is its busted . Everything on the phone appears to be in working order and I've loaded cyanogen's latest rom (which I believe includes the most up to date radio) but I still get no service and when I try to search for networks it responds back with an error. When I cracked it open I found that the UMTS Coax cable was severed. Being the reckless and stupid type I decided that this should be a quick fix and grabbed my soldering iron. A quick solder later and I still have no service and then realized I have no clue if this type of cable can be repaired with such a quick hack. Anyone care to chime in with suggestions or personal experience?
Thanks!
Nobody has an opinion? Not even a friendly hello?
well i can give you a friendly hello
what prompted you to open up the phone? was it a used phone or did you expect some damage inside? Can you give more details on the phones use prior to this?
I have the long and short coax cables, as well as the UTMS and GPS modules that attach to them if you are looking to replace. PM for details. The long cable is a pretty popular piece to be pinched or cut and they are not so easy to find.
Sorry for digging this back up. Just wanted to say thanks to the individuals who offered help but I opted to return the device since it was originally listed as in working condition and didn't want to deal with the chance that it was more than a cable issue.
Have a good day everyone.
almost a year later, but was wondering if anyone knows where i can get the 80mm UMTS coax cable.
i found this site carries them, but it's in Chinese and google translate isn't helping any.
http : // item . taobao .com/item.htm?id=2973124131
thanks
