Hi, I have been trying to research m problem before having to post a thread, but I havent had any luck.
This morning, I updated m HTC tilt 2 (at&t version) with the new upgrade available on the HTC site. The upgrade went well, however, since i have done it, i have been unable to send or receive text messages, the first few messages i sent said they went through but the other party did not get them, after the 1st 2 or 3, it just tells me now UNABLE TO SENT TEXT MESSAGE.... I am using this phone unlocked on the telus network, and have been for 2 months now. I was sending and receiving messages without a problem before the upgrade. Could someone please help me if you have an idea of what could be causing the problem, I really need my text service working. I have been trying to find the original At&t ship rom, the one that was on my phone before, and cant find it anywhere, not even HTC site. Could someone post the rom?
I really appreciate any help, I am going crazy here, lol
well, i just received 2 messages sent to me a few minutes ago, then tried to repl to one and it still said Cannot send text message. I have sent 2 from the telus site to my number , so far i got one. Also, i notice the signal bars are not that high since i changed the rom....
o.k, sorr to keep adding to this thread, but for some reason, now my texts send but i dont get a reply. when i send one to myself i dont receive it, but i just sent two out and it said sent with success, but still havent received the one i sent to myself. gonna try again to send one from telus site, but i still havent received the 2nd one i sent from telus site...
Well, just realized the problem is with telus. Sorry for the post, i should have checked with them first but it happened at the same time i did the upgrade... However, I would still like to re-load the original ROM , if someone has it can you please post it. Since the new rom, my screen wont rotate anymore, even with the app changescreen enabled.

Hey guys. Four days ago I bought a brand new LG Optimus Optimus 2X. Everything seemed to be good, but after a couple of hours the phone asked for pin code. I entered it and I didn't think much about it until I noticed that I didn't receive any calls or text messages. Tried to call out/send text messages but it didn't work.
I rebooted phone and things worked as usual again. This occurs about 6 times a day, and reboot is the only way to fix it. I went back to the store and told them about the problem. They gave me a new LGP990, but the same problem happen with the new phone I got. I didn't install any applications, and I even did a factory restore with the same result.
I thought it could be the batch the store got, but they had sold several other phones of the same batch and no problems was reported by the customers. Could it be my google account/a contact or something corrupting the OS?

Don't think so. contact your service provider and suggest that you would like to replace the SIM card. It might help if new device didnt...
They should be able to send you a new SIM and activate your services on it for free.

It's a reasonable explenation, but I find it a little strange, since the SIM card is about 2 weeks old, and it works completely fine in a different phone, but hey. I'll try out with another SIM card.
Your problema is another variant of random reboots. Welcome to the club ;-)
I've it too more or less.
Regards!

Kept asking me to. I jumped over to another baseband, the 502. Helped a lot

Does that mean your phone is cured, or just almost? Anyways. Do you have a good walkthrough/tutorial about how to upgrade baseband to 502?
I used the guide at madaco. Well it havent had it asking for pin-code with the madaco 18b2 and cm7 is also stable, or so they say

Hm. I think I might wait for an update. I'm a little afraid that I'm gonna **** it up. Don't want my phone bricked, and I'm a newbie to android-flashing.
I flashed to cyanogenmod 7 and the pin prompt have still not appeared. I will get back to you in a couple of days when I've tested it more.
Edit: I was wrong. Problem still occurs on c7.
Edit2: I think it might have gotten a little better. It happens maybe 2-3 times per day now. So it might have helped.
Edit3: Flashed baseband to 1035.21_20110502. Exited to see how this works.
Edit4: Got a pin prompt 5 hours after flashing baseband. Waiting for an update from LG or clever answer then.
I made a new discovery. This seems to appear when I have bad reception. When I have no reception this happens ALL the time. Like several times per minute. So I really don't know what to do now.
Long story short, found a google nexus one, rooted and installed cyanogen mod 7 nightly, phoned worked fine for months until imei got blocked. Was selling the phone to my mate who is on T-Mobile so he phoned them an requested imei be unblocked which was accepted, popped T-Mobile sim card in and then accepted an update an now the phone will not switch on, no bootloader/recovery etc?
Phone was originally vodafone if that makes any difference anything else u need to know ask away.
I'm not interested in a long winded way to get this to work, if it is something simple then great I'll try an sort it, if its a bad brick etc I'll just sell it for parts, Thanks
They blocked you cuz original prob knows that you be using it. Go return it. It's the right thing to do. Wouldn't you want it return to you if you lost your phone. I would.

as in my other thread, u are making assumptions. i contacted the carrier who were uninterested, then the phone was blocked months later, dont know if it took that long to get through the system or whatever but when i contacted to get the imei released it was released without any further enquiry, so i dont see an issue with it.
If it was running CM7 and he update maybe that's why it got messed up.
thank you for your reply and yes i thought that was probably the problem but would that stop u getting into recovery mode etc, its black screen only?
Thread can be closed/deleted thank you
I just picked up my vivid on tuesday. I have been having issues ever since I got it with being able to successfully send texts. They just hang forever in the thread with a "pending" status.
Originally, i was worried this was a rom issue. I've tried every ROM.... Same issue with every single one. I relocked bootloader and went back to stock, and had some luck, but only about 18 hours before I started experiencing issues again.
Has anyone else experienced this with their vivid? Rooted, or otherwise. I'm about to take this thing back and go back to my Inspire. This is getting real old, real quick.
Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

I have not experienced it, it sounds like it may be an APN issue though, did you experience the same issue with your stock rom?
Yes I see this every time I flash a new Rom , just when I restore the apn setting it starts to work again.

yep. i've tried every possible apn setting. even older ones that are only for hspda+. nothing works. i can't say i was on the stock rom long enough to text, but i did relock the bootloader, and reapply the ship rom for att, and experienced the same issue.
i'm going today to get a replacement device. hopefully it's just a shoddy one.
goodbye vivid.
well, after less than a week, and two vivids....i'm done with this device. both of them refuse to send texts after approximately 10-12 hours. as much as i hate to leave the htc brand [and despise the blue tone of samsung devices], i have to go to the skyrocket due to it's comparable hardware.
i'm pissed....i was super excited about the vivid, but it has been a severely disappointing, aggravating experience overall.
I had an issue twice before, one was a problem with the sim and the other was the mistake of putting my sim in an iPhone where it would only send as an imessage

Ive been having the same issue since I got the phone in November.
The only way I can get messages to send (sometimes) is to restart the phone, then they send in bulk.
I have done the following:
-factory reset
-tried stock/custom rom (HoliRaider, RumRaider)
-had the phone replaced (2x because Rogers is rather stupid)
-tried the SIM in another phone (X10) and it works 100%
-tried SIM in a 'floor model' Raider at the Rogers store, worked (only had the SIM in for 10 mins)
-factory reset (again)
-tried on all the variants of network (Auto, WCDMA, GSM) no change
I have asked a few times if trying a new SIM would be worth it, tech keeps saying no...
Needless to say I have my Raider on Kijiji trying to sell/trade for a SGSII.
Love HTC but i need to be able to send SMS.
So it sounds like the sim is the issue if you used a floor model sim and it was fine , so demand a new one?

Guys by any chance you have phonelocator pro install on your phone? If so that's the problem there. As soon as send a text to locate the phone my wife's messages stops sending until you restart the phone I contacted the dev with no help from him.
Edit - BTW The problem could be cause by any apps that intercept sms like any Messaging replacement app ect but I'm not %100 sure is anyone of those apps but Phonelocator pro from the market.

this started happeningto me because i had WMD (whers my droid) on my phone, as soon i removed it and delete the pending texts and rebooted, text started to work again.
I tested it again a few days after by re-installing WMD and same results.
So if you happen to have any text based GPS locators it might be the issue.
A different sim worked for me too because the number changed and the text failed to send. it was WMD and i asked the dev and he was no help and said uninstall my program i can't do anything for you.
I am not sure if this post belongs here, mods please feel free to move to appropriate section if not.
I recently noticed my phone bill in the last 2 months were much higher than normal. I went through my bills online and checked my call history, I found out there were messages sent by me, and some messages sent to me from 60140 and they cost £1.50 for each message! Now, I am very certain that I did not send any message to that number. I checked my phone's messaging history and there were 3 text messages I received 4 days ago, but my online bill also reported I sent 1 before I received the 3 messages. These messages are nothing but simple tips for android power users, which are pure rubbish (screen shot attached).
I was also able to trace the dates when I got these messages, the first was the day when I flashed Darky's Rom, and the other was when I flashed CheckRom v6 4 days ago. I had flashed a lot of custom roms in the last 3 months and it's only in the last 2 roms that I had this issue. I've sent a "Stop" message to 60140 and got a reply that says I am now unsubscribed.
I am suspecting it was an app that caused this. I wonder if there's anyone who can shed light to this. I was thinking of wiping my phone and reformatting the internal storage but so hesitant as it is running perfect at the moment on Checkrom V6. Would really appreciate any help

That is very very unusual !!. I also flashed many different type of custom rom but never experience one ....
Just Say No!
It's a scammer SMS spammer. They send you premium SMS's and get paid for it. This is a serious issue, and has even gone as high as parliament in Oz.
DO NOT LET THEM GET AWAY WITH IT!
I called my provider (Three, I think), and demanded a refund of all charges. They refused, saying it was not their fault.
I countered, and kept on at them. I kept mentioning that this provider was acting fraudulently, and by charging me, the provider were complicit in that fraud. I also stated several times that I had taken legal advice (I had not) and would be happy to see them in court. I would have too. I knew they pay up instead of going as it's cheaper.
[edit] BTW, it is nothing to do with the ROM, that is just a coincidence or we'd all be finding this a problem.
It was only about $30, but I stood my ground on principle. Only when the providers stop participating in this theft can it really be stopped.
Oh, and I had all my phone records, so could prove that I had never sent them an SMS to initiate their service. If you do not have these, just claim you have (on your phone, even) and force them to prove otherwise.
I had this on att and when u reply stop is when u get billed. Had like 3 10 dollar charges but att refunded right away

Thanks for your replies, I know now that I can, at least, call my provider (Orange UK) about it. I have paid £12.00 before I realized the scam.
It's a relief to know also that it was not custom ROM related.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
these charges are coming from a company called com & tell uk ltd.
they are charging £1.50 per text to anyone that has downloaded an power saving app for there android mobile. its a crafty little scam that keeps the subscription part quiet. simple text STOP to 60140 an you will get a confirmation text. an problem solved.
ive had a potter round on the internet an there isnt many old posts relating to this only recent ones march onwards
Okay. When i first got this phone about 2 weeks ago texts came through no problem. Now for the past about 2 or 3 days i get texts that were sent over a day ago at 10 at night. Im on tmobile and never had this issue on my m8. Im rooted, oem unlock and twrp recovery with the only custom rom available.
Ideas??[emoji21]

From what i was told today at work, that can happen either when the tower is being upgraded, reset, or having issues. i would call and file a ticket with tech support if it continues
Awesome, thanks for the info

i had the exact same problem and got my phone replaced a week ago. not sure what time problem is or if its even phone related but i do know that i havent had this problem since.
I have been having issues with my t-mobile version also. My wife got part of anew text mixed with part of an old(like a couple week old) text. Today I got a few OLD OLD texts from my wife. Both of us have the T-Mobile version, stock rooted...
I had to factory reset twice to get mine to work normally.
