[Q] Flash on CM6 - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to get flash on it cuz I really want to put it on.

flash will not work on the Hero processor... there might be a possibility of flash lite.

o well then how come some roms have it then cuz i saw a rom and it said it had flash 10.1

I told you it wouldn't work on the Processor we had. Did you listen? No. I even had to text you from church this morning just to tell you.

dont listen to him..... recently we were able to make flash 10.1 work on our phones. but only on sense roms. we do not have it figured out on our froyo port yet. but zen-rom and NFX-hero and i think some other sense based roms have working flash 10.1

But isnt that only a tweak of flash lite, I've heard people say it is and it isnt, but I have yet to see the flash on sense perform the way it does on the evo, I'm pretty sure thats just flash lite. Adobe has already said that flash 10 was made for at least an ARM v7 (Cortex) processor.
edit: yes only on sense roms cause thats htc flash a.k.a. flash lite

No it is 10.1. Nfinitefx had to take the binarries out of 10.1 and put it in the flash lite apk to make it work. And since its not made for our phones it will not run as good as a nexus or evo. Maybe we could do some tweaking to get it to run smoother. But our current sense roms do infact have flash 10.1

[Q] I just upgraded to cyn 2.2 is there a way to get flash?

I upgraded to it today Im kind of a noob but i did it and iv been looking and cant seem to find the answer. How can i get flash on my g1 that i just upgraded to 2.2 ?
No, nah, nada, uh-uh, nope, no way Jose, not a chance Lance, not going to happen, and my personal favorite, 'man falling off a cliff': NOOOOOOOOOOooooooooo....
lol is there any rom i can flash that supports adobe flash?
Cyanogen said:
Flash doesn't work because it uses a native (non-portable) library which uses ARMv7 instructions. It can't run on older processors.

Hence the response "Don't worry bro, I'll add it with WinZIP!!"
HTC Sense ROMs include flash lite, but considering FL isn't usable on snapdragon devices, you really have no chance.
What about all those proof-of-concept videos showing flash running on G1 that popped up last year? Might it be possible to adapt one of those solutions?

The only possibility I see is with the 2.2 update for the slide. It has a newer version of the MSM7k proccessors, but should be mostly compatible. With it being the newest HTC for tmobile, I believe it will more then likely that flash be incorporated into the update. It would need the sense framework though.

Sorry, but why are you even talking about CM6.0.0 RC3 when the final is out, and yet even better there are nightlies which you can install which is way more feature rich than the final??!!
Tell you what, hit the CM forums, skool yourself up, cop a nightly, flash it, then come and ask for help (which by then you shouldnt have to)
Any ROM can be used on an SLCD device, it's the Kernel that will decide if it will work with the screen. eViLs latest kernels and intersectRavens work with it as they are based of Cyanogens source.

which gingerbread rom is this?

Hey saw this Vid, wondering what rom and kernel he is running, if anyone knows which they are please let me know. thanks

first off this a tech demo and not a stable day to day use rom. You will not be able to use this normally on the phone (reagular reboots and instability) it was simply a taste of gingerbread for some devs here. I would highly recommend not flashing especially since you aren't really experienced yet. You should flash one of the many stable roms in the dev section, but if you insist on it, here is the thread for it:

i tried dling this rom and installing from clockwork recovery as a zip and it says it installed and takes me right back to the original rom i started with. also is there a kernel i should flash to make things more stable. thanks

I'm pretty sure you have to flash the 2.3 kernel for it to boot into gb. But as joeshmoe said, it isn't a good idea if you aren't experienced (I bricked a capivate trying to get this to work, seriously, it isn't a good idea). There's plenty of great froyo roms out and some nice gb themes, I'd recommend just taking that route.

As far as we know, its not even being developed yet for the Captivate.

It *is* being developed for the Captivate, but not on a native Captivate kernel. The reorient, headphone, button fixes are native to the i9000 port when it detects the hardware as a Captivate.

Don't flash it. Seriously. Codeworkx/Coolya were digging through the source, and the nexus s kernel source has differing voltages than the galaxy s. ie, it can actually destroy parts of your hardware. Wait a couple of weeks, the rc for CM7 should be out by then.

well i dont plan to use the rom long term just wanted to flash to it and mess with it then probably switch back to a froyo rom shortly after. but having an issue getting it to run. if i download a kernel with voodoo and run the lagfix to ext4 then flash the rom should that get it up and running?
edit: went ahead and flashed perception and then the rom, reboots constantly, so looks like ill go back to perception and tough it out with a gingerbread theme. Gonna miss that lock animation.... ok now anyknow know how i get back to recovery mode, or do i have to flash back to stock? and reroot?
edit2: dont flash this rom, waste of time, just play with your friends nexus S, back to serendipity
All for a lock screen animation......... wow.

No and it's not likely. Flash is proprietary and closed source. They never released an armv6 variant. The only hope would be if lightspark of gnash came to android. However performance would be below par. There is the "flash-lite" that htc used in sense roms but it's tight to closely with the sense framework.
I agree. We'll never see flash work properly on this bad boy.

Cyanogenmod vs Stock

Hi there,
i have a Galaxy Tab 8.0 P7300. I want to know if there is a *better* cyanogenmod rom than the ICS stock rom?
I don't like putting new roms on my device every other week and want something that just works, but i don't know how stable the CM roms really are?!
I ask because the devices is not the fastes and im looking for a way to tune it a little bit.

Well, CM is good and has way more features than the stock one, but if you use your tab for heavy games playing
then stock ICS is the best cuz CM (9,10,10.1,10.2) is kinda laggy while playing heavy games
in my personal experience, the best ROM for our tab is an optimized stock ICS like this one:

You can't flash it or any other ROMs by odin, you have to install CWM through odin first,
Then you'll be able to flash it through odin.
You can find odin and CWM that can be flashed through odin in the second post in the same thread

Thanks a lot
Are current builds of CM 10.2 still laggy with Netflix? I tried it a few months back (a September build) and it worked pretty well EXCEPT for the Netflix lagging/buffering problems.

Seems pretty good on C-O-M's latest build of CM10.2. I only checked it for a minute, but it ran smooth.
