I heard that the new SGS being produced have the download mode option disabled!
Is that true?!
How can we flash a new firmware without that?

HEADLINE EDIT: How do I get my phone in download mode?(3-button-combination doesn't work)
Hey.
I can't get my phone in download mode and the only way I can get it in recorvery mode is with a batch file from this forum somewhere(I can't remember where). So anywhere I can find a batch file, or something like it, where the phone goes in download mode instead of recovery mode?
Would help me alot since I want to flash my firmware :>
Thanks!
there is adb reboot download
but you should not use it unless you can get the 3 hardware button to work
you should apply the ROM fix to re-enable the 3 button mode in the DEV area

Could you link it? So I'm 100% sure which one you are talking about
it's on the wiki
click my wiki link or you can also click the wiki link at the top of the page
the read about the 3 button fix
Just to know, what exactly does the download mode do?
If I plug it in kies while in download mode, can I get the original / official firmware back in the device or it's only used with odin?
THanks!
Kies will give you the same instruction to upgrade firmware
so, not it's not only for Odin, it's for all firmware upgrade
Lets say I've installed Voodoo, if I put it in download mode and plug it with Kies, would I be able to reintall stock firmware and remove all traces of Voodoo, not just disabling it?
i would restore it back to stock before installing any new ROM
just for safety.
And to return to stock, how would you proceed?
BTW, sorry to overtake the thread....
BTW2, thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge, it is greatly apreciated!
Hi Guys,
I made a really terrible mistake. I did not set my international version Galaxy S to USB debugging mode before attempting to flash Voodoo lag fix with Odin. Now all I see when I turn on my phone is the phone-!-pc message. I can still get to download mode but no luck getting into recovery mode. Odin seems to be able to detect my phone when I set it to download mode and connect it to my PC. Is there anything I can do to save my phone?
Any help would be appreciate.
Ok. I managed to save my phone. Turns out I could still re-flash an official firmware. /Close Thread
Hi people!
I got bricked my galaxy mini gt-s5570, but not totaly (that means I can still use the download mode, and RAMDUMP ARM9 mode) but I can't power up the phone. That happened after I used ODIN for gt-s5570 and changed the Kernel (I forgot to make backup before), and device was working well with the new kernel, but after it I use the same step in ODIN to get back to the old one. So the result is, when I'm pushing the power key the screen starts to blinks and nothing more! But as I say download mode, and ARM9 mode are still working. Any solution for this?
just download the new firmware from samfirmware.com n flash it thru odin as u can go to download mode..n ur phone will be back to life again..

Hey guys n gals really hoping for some help.
I was in the process of rooting one of my phones(Samsung Galaxy S vibrant) Done it many times on this phone plus my note and my tab2. I soft bricked the phone was able to get it into download mode instal an original 2.3 firmware to the phone via Odin. Now it wont go passed the Galaxy S Screen I cant get into download mode and it wont read the SD card(which has an ICS firmware on it for install) Any ideas on how I can get this back to even manufacturer steps?
When you enable download mode, android with a shovel doesn't appear, does it? That's doesn't metter. Just run Odin and connect smartphone to the computer. If ID:COM has appeared, download mode is active.
Hi there everyone, SOLVED/FIXEDThis is my problem. I tried to flash stock firmware from Odin and the cable moved around so the flashing process interrupts by accident.
after that, I tried to boot into download mode and I got this error:
An error has occurred while updating the device software Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software
My device model is Samsung galaxy note 9 SM-N960F/DS
O tried to force the flashing process from that screen on ODIN but just fail.
Smart Switch does not help just an unsupported device and is asking for an Emergency recovery code
I will appreciate any help to fix my phone
thanks!
FIXED /SOLVED :
-Download mode wasn't enable. I flashed the firmware from the screen error.
Just make sure don't mess with the cable, the flashing process will be the same as download mode.
Make sure to flash the stock firmware from you device.
You can download stock firmware from SamMobile, it will take a while if you don't have a membership
If the flashing process fail on Odin. Download another Odin version. That's what I did.
Good luck!!-
I'm glad it's fixed now. Do share how you did it though, just to help others with similar issues!
