Hi? Does anyone knows how to edit the default verizon voicemail number? I noticed that even if a dial *86 the display number is different. Is there a way to edit it? In my contacts appear like voicemail but it doesn't give me the options to edit.
Appreciate any help.
If you go into ##program, I remember seeing the number for voicemail section. You should be able to override there.

Tanx! I'm not an advanced user so if you could detail me how to do that I would appreciate.

Have you had any issues with it? I was using it (moderately) then one of my friends claimed it completely messed up his iPhone (on AT&T). Eventually calling him would forward the call to some woman, lol.

as long as you allow GV to do the work, it's nearly impossible to screw up. GV will pull in your GV phone number and perform the VM forwarding command for you. You shouldn't even have to worry if your GV phone number matches what was assigned to you, everything is automatic.
Na. He's actually a real big nerd. But I do believe he messed up and wouldn't take blame, lol.

As long as you take the 10 minutes to set it up, it works great!
I have used it moderately as I said. I just never used it I guess like some others seem to. I just used it so clients I was doing work for could txt me a bunch n not actually blow up my phone. Id stop forwarding and just use the google voice site.

So maybe it was because I was running an aftermarket ROM on my captivate, but the city/state of an incoming call would show up when the phone was ringing.
Today I got the first call from someone not in my contacts, it showed up with city & state info, but then when I hung up.. up came this city ID app, saying it was a 10 day trial.. wtf? how is something like this now a pay service?
I wouldn't think I would need an app for this. Anyone have a good replacement? or maybe it's part of some of the ROMs that are being worked on for vivid here (going to try rum raider once Im back from a business trip).

Bloatware, delete it. There are many free alternatives in the market.

It seems to. If I clear all data and flash a rom it seems to give me another trial.

Yes, I just got a call today and it asked about the 10 day trial. Happens every time I reflash this rom and clear data.
Yup. I've had the 10 day free trial for the month and a half I've had the phone.. Flash new build, get new trial. I never hit 10 days...
Can anyone recommend a good free alternative?

Dial *72 and your home number. To turn it off dial *73.
It's built into your Verizon plan. Something like *72.
Edit: wow I'm too slow
Does that code money or does it just use my minutes or is it minutes plus something
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using XDA App
Already included unless you have some weird plan. It will use your minutes as if you were on the cell phone. So nights & weekends + mobile 2 mobile + family & friends should be freeeeeee.
I think I saw an app that handles this for you... but my style has just been to add a contact called ForwardtoHome and set the phone number as the entire string. I also have one called UnforwardtoHome.
Another option that's pretty awesome is Google Voice. Check it out if you don't already know.
I have Google voice but there is not a feature that I know of that forwards to another window

so it look as thought i just added my home phone google voice but the only problem is that when people call my actually cell number that doesn't really get forwarded at all..

Yeah you need to tell everyone you got a new number and distribute your Google Voice number. I did it a year ago and it's awesome! If you set it up properly you can put your google voice number as friends & family and have free calls through google voice.
Cool man yeah I have had one for about year but too many people to distribute to bit the thing I am noticing is that my home phone only ring twice before it goes to voicemail anyway to fix this? ?

There's no setting in GV for this. Maybe your answering machine is picking up? Dunno, that's weird, I don't have that issue.

Believe it when I see it
Flashed cm10.1 release candidate today. Everything seemed fine, then I discovered I wasn't receiving calls and wasn't able to make calls either. Anybody have any similar issues? Anyone have any suggestions as to what I may have done to cause this or if there are any settings I may need to change? Please help. Thanks in advance.
I literally just had this problem and spent the past 5 hours with useless tech support.
Don't call Sprint tech support, they just end up doing something on their end that makes you lose your texting and data, too. They ****ed me so hard I have to go into a repair center.
I can't even get another phone correctly activated in the meantime to use as a placeholder.
I'm just as lost as you are, too.
Try ##786# menu and reset. Make sure you are in a good signal area, this will do hands free activation and update prl.

The problem with trying that is the phone number and MSID fields are now blank, and going into the other dialer menu ##221542# and setting them that way doesn't stick past the reboot it forces when you try and apply those.
Maybe try following this thread

Tried that a couple different times with a couple different tech support reps, each time the phone number and MSID don't stick afterwards.
Sorry I tried, I don't have any other ideas. Hopefully someone else can help.

My older phone is finally activated (took well over an hour for calls and data to come back to it, by far the longest I've ever seen a phone take). So at least I have a phone again.
Good luck OP, I'm going to visit a Sprint store tomorrow to see what they say. Report back in on whatever it is you try and what you find does/doesn't work.
Did you try set ril.class to HTCCDMAQUALCOMMRIL in the build.prop

I couldn't seem to find that line but I'll look for it again after work. What line is it numerically and what exactly does the line say?

Yeah, I just read through the entire thing, that line is missing. I'll add it in and see what changes.
Posting again instead of editing for the sake of the bump.

It didn't do anything. I'm heading to a Sprint store right now.

Back from the Sprint store, the rep I had happens to be a flasher like one of us. I explained to him what had happened and he got right to ordering me a new phone after a $50 deductible.
So, OP, we were both SOL. The MSID had gotten corrupted (similar to how in the early days of the Galaxy S3, it had a chance to lose its ESN) and couldn't be re-written. Only thing to do is get a replacement.
I keep getting these repeatedly

Looks like some of the texts I got when T-Mo was doing provisioning. I would reboot into recovery(stock or custom) and wipe cache(and fix permissions if you have custom recovery). If that doesn't work, contact advanced customer support. Good luck, and don't click any links in those, just in case.

I got about 2 of these, but they were in English informing me that a voice message was left for me by [email protected]... Maybe 2 months back.. Never had these after that
