Dsp manager - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know what this does or some good settings?

If you dont know what it does, dont touch it

Wow thanks for the help bro lol. I'm asking so I can learn what it does not for someone to tell me don't touch a app that's on my phone. All I'm asking for is tips on the app its obviously a eq but I wanna know what settings people are running.

I usually have extreme compression on, with studio as environment. My eq is usally with high bass (0-200hz) , low mids and high ends (10000-16000hz).

Is that for the handset settings? These settings affect how it sounds during a call?

Volume boost

Is there an app to boost system volume. I found one for when the headphones are connected but not for without. Its no where near as loud as my tilt2 was with xda

Does this do anything to boost in-call audio? That's all I really want
I believe it does

I'm looking to boost system volume. Even this app wasn't enough. Maybe the speaker is just weaker than i anticipated thus the headphone jack.
Audio boost here and Free!!! (pay donate if u want)
Ive looked around and found one that can increase yr volume its called Galaxy Tuner, on android market, maybe for Galaxy phs i dont know just try it, but to get the volume use the equalizer! use slider 100db 80-90% up for a bit more bass, but manly use these 2 sliders 875db and 2400db to round 70% any more will just distort sound, it will be a bit more tinny sound but louder great for shap noises like bird ring tones or sounds like sirens etc just play around but dont go max its crappy distortion! and u can save setting under what ever name! NOTE: using head phones will sound better, but make a setting "For Head Phones" and a setting "For External Speaker"

Best EQ settings?

Hello,
I'm wondering what EQ settings are best for all types of music.?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
Use your ears. Some people like to have a lot of bass, and some like to have small amounts or even none. Plug your headphones in and adjust it until you like how it sounds on different songs and genres.
I don't use EQ. Makes my life simple. The settings in Voodoo control is enough for my ears.

The ones picked by the recording engineer during the tracking session.
I prefer a flat EQ a well, but that is because I want to hear the track how the artists/engineers intend. I have ultimate ears triple fi 10 in-ears and they sound amazing. But it takes some getting used to the sound since most people are not used to hearing super clear mids and highs

Save up for decent equipment and use no EQ at all. DSP effects ruin sound fidelity. As mentioned above, get used to listening to music the way it was intended by the artists and sound engineers that recorded it.
And here I was staying on Cm7 just for the DSP manager

I add bass, lots of it, but maybe I should stop using DSP
also Alan, DSP can be had on any ROM I'm on touchwiz ATM
(If you download Root toolbox you can find it in the 'other ' section then flash it)
Max. (From my Galaxy 2)
The bass seeing in power amp with the preamp turned up

Controlling Beats setting

Not sure if this is possible but if it is, I don't exactly know how to go about it. I'd like for beats to turn on only when I'm playing sound through the speakers. Not through headphones or through bluetooth. Only speaker. Whether in a phone call or YouTube. I imagine this could maybe be done through Tasker but I don't know how to go about it. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm pretty sure this is not possible. At least not with the stock rom.
Mmm I figured this would be a tough one. If anyone has any ideas, don't hesitate to share

If you download pimpmyrom from the playstore you can install a beats equalizer. It's very similar to dsp manager.

Other HTC roms in the past have had a toggle in the statusbar. Although I found out recently that sound out of the speakers was actually lower with beats on. It did sound deeper but not as loud and it's a pretty noticeable difference. On the other hand it makes headphones louder as you'd expect. I did install the Wildman kernel do I don't know if that has anything to do with it but I didn't turn beats off until after I flashed the kernel.
its possible with Tasker.

Have you done it or know how? I've been trying but am not familiar enough with tasker to figure how to set this up.

[MOD] ViPER4Android Audio Effects

EDIT: I am not affiliated with this MOD at all, I'm simply spreading the word.
Alright, forget AwesomeBEATS, AC!D Soundmod and DSP Manager. I've been trying this out for a few weeks now, with incredible results. I have tested this on both Borked ROM and PACman, and works flawlessly on both so it should work on all ROMs available for our Vivid. The only bug I have noticed is the separate bluetooth settings don't seem to make a difference, it just uses the Headset settings. Here are the settings I've found with the best sound for me so far, it will make your ears happy.
V4A-FX Powered On- CHECKED
PlaybackAGC- Unchecked
FIR Equalizer- CHECKED- I use Vocal Booster
Convolver- CHECKED- srs_2_1_normal+headset.irs
Field Surround- CHECKED- Both set to Moderate
Reverberation- Unchecked
Dynamic System- CHECKED- I have Denon headphones so I select High-End, sometimes Extreme. I can tell a difference between the two.
Tube Simulator- CHECKED
Just read through the thread and you'll find the .irs files and what to do with them. Installation is super easy and makes a huge difference.

For our Vivid, choose A8Cortex with Neon when it does the initial driver setup.
If you have TitaniumBackup or can otherwise completely remove DSP Manager, I highly recommend this as to avoid conflicting settings.
thank you it works! my cm10 flashed vivid is so much louder and clear thanks again
I also want to point out my edit, if you can remove DSP manager from the system I recommend doing so, as its settings will conflict and deteriorate Viper's.
I'm glad you said something cus I deleted dsp manager and I'm using viper and I was gunna reflash the dsp manager since I think there's to much bass and music is a bid distorted.

I had already deleted DSP Manager with TiBU, loving Viper. My Vivid sounds like a high-end stereo now.
Thanks!

It really does turn your phone into a high-end preamp/mixer, the audio profiles you can create with a little tweaking are amazing. This is one of the best setups I've found so far, for my headphones and the cassette adapter in my car-
Headset-
Master Power- On
Playback Gain- Off
FIR Equalizer- On- Vocal Booster
Convolver- On- IRS I use is samsung_i9300_soundalive_11_virtualchannel7.1.irs
Field Surround- Off
Headphone Surround- Off in the car, On for headphones (sometimes)
Reverberation- Off
Dynamic System- On- Extreme Headphones(v2), 16% Dynamic Bass, Tube Simulator enabled
Fidelity Control- ViPER Bass- On- Natural Bass, 40hz, 3.5db, ViPER Clarity- On- OZone+, 3.5db
Auditory System Protection- Cure Tech- On, Moderate
Master Gate (Limiter)- 0db, 0db
Glad it's working out for you guys!
Excuse my ignorance, but does this possibly fix low in call volumes to?

I started to install it but got stuck. When I go to put the apk in the system/app folder it says "has not been copied" but it does list it as there twice both having 0kb size
Does it have a huge difference compared to DSP Manager? and what are the difference?
considering trying this mod...
but i need to know how to uninstall this mod ...just incase i don't like it ....
(I'm currently rooted running a stock dedoxed rom... using beats audio and poweramp so headphone wise i have no issue with the sound, but sound through the phones speakers is just too low.)
I'm on 4.2.2 Unofficial Dirty Unicorn (7-18-13),
after flash the rom,on phone speaker, default bass was too heavy to make it sounds horrible, and the dsp manager didn't work.
but this MOD works great!
Really thanks for the info, it fixed my phone speaker problem

Can someone post a screenshot of the default speaker AudioFX settings on a Moto X?

I know it's not turned off out of the box. It was set to punchy or something like that.
On CM12.1 it's turned off though, and the speakers sound like trash, so I'm trying to match the stock ROM's output quality.
