Wifi stay connected after a long sleep? NO - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know some people may have discussed this issue but I haven't got an answer yet.
Similar to others, my phone sleeps with Wifi on and after an hour or too, Wifi is disconnected when I woke the phone up. Note I have already set the Wifi sleep policy to "Never".
So i went into the log and saw these:
D/WifiService( 85): acquireWifiLockLocked: WifiLock{NetworkLocationProvider type=2 [email protected]}
D/WifiService( 85): releaseWifiLockLocked: WifiLock{NetworkLocationProvider type=2 [email protected]}
D/ConnectivityService( 85): ConnectivityChange for WIFI: DISCONNECTED/FAILED
V/ConnectivityService( 85): Attempt to connect to WIFI failed.
D/WifiService( 85): acquireWifiLockLocked: WifiLock{NetworkLocationProvider type=2 [email protected]}
D/ConnectivityService( 85): Dropping ConnectivityChange for WIFI: DISCONNECTED/SCANNING
D/ConnectivityService( 85): ConnectivityChange for WIFI: CONNECTING/CONNECTING
D/ConnectivityService( 85): Dropping ConnectivityChange for WIFI: CONNECTING/AUTHENTICATING
D/ConnectivityService( 85): Dropping ConnectivityChange for WIFI: CONNECTING/OBTAINING_IPADDR
D/WifiService( 85): releaseWifiLockLocked: WifiLock{NetworkLocationProvider type=2 [email protected]}
D/WifiService( 85): acquireWifiLockLocked: WifiLock{NetworkLocationProvider type=2 binder=[email protected]}
D/ConnectivityService( 85): ConnectivityChange for WIFI: DISCONNECTED/FAILED
V/ConnectivityService( 85): Attempt to connect to WIFI failed.
then it kept looping these, for so many times:
D/WifiService( 85): acquireWifiLockLocked: WifiLock{NetworkLocationProvider type=2 [email protected]}
D/WifiService( 85): releaseWifiLockLocked: WifiLock{NetworkLocationProvider type=2 [email protected]}
are there any good samaritans who can help me with this piece?

no one else has any comment on this?
actually i asked my friend to try to same thing, let the phone sleep at home (he got also the iphone as main phone, ha) so he left his N1 at home on, and the phone stayed connected to wifi the whole time.
so i tried to eliminate factors between his and mine.
1. we both use the same router
2. he uses STOCK home, I use Launcher Pro / Sweeter Home 2
I am just wondering, if using Launcher Pro / Sweeter Home, which I found out both of these theme takes up quite a big deal of CPU usage (i am not sure) or RAM (i am sure, as they restart themselves sometimes and I checekd logcat and found out they restarted because of insufficient VM), would this be the problem of Wifi Cutting Off?
please help?

thanks for the reply.
why would you think so? i am not a tech guy so I am not sure
but i checked and my MAC address start with 00 (Wireless MAC Address: 00-13-xx-xx-xx)
and my previous Hero worked sleeplessly before.
its just this N1 with all those home replacement that might be suspicious?

There is a big thread on wifi sleep issues, mostly folks with 38 suffer and 00 don't. Probably best to have a read: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731395

thanks man, i will head over and take a look.
usually my phone's wifi drops after an hour or so, not like 15 min.
but anyway, let me do some more test
and try to get wifi fixer to see if it helps.

MAC Caching?

does anyone know if there is something on the phone that caches MAC addresses (other than just an ARP table).
At my work we recently changed out a router but gave it the same name it used to have. We used to broadcast the SSID but are no longer doing so so I had to "add" a network. I put in the SSID and try to connect but what I'm seeing in the log is not the MAC address of the actual device so I'm not sure where it's getting it from.
e.g: Device address: 00:A2:F0:A3:00:F1
What I see in the logs:
Code:
V/WifiMonitor( 1400): Event [CTRL-EVENT-STATE-CHANGE id=-1 state=2]
V/WifiStateTracker( 1400): Changing supplicant state: DISCONNECTED ==> SCANNING
V/WifiMonitor( 1400): Event [Trying to associate with 02:5c:71:ee:ac:1c (SSID='MYSSID' freq=2417 MHz)]
V/WifiMonitor( 1400): Event [CTRL-EVENT-STATE-CHANGE id=-1 state=3]
V/WifiStateTracker( 1400): Changing supplicant state: SCANNING ==> ASSOCIATING
D/WifiStateTracker( 1400): Deconfiguring interface and stopping DHCP
D/SettingsWifiEnabler( 2956): Received network state changed to NetworkInfo: type: WIFI[], state: DISCONNECTED/DISCONNECTED, reason: (unspecified), extra: (none), roaming: false, failover: false, isAvailable: true
V/WifiMonitor( 1400): Event [Authentication with 02:5c:71:ee:ac:1c timed out.]
I've looked on other devices that have successfully connected to verify the new target MAC but it looks like my phone might have a MAC association with the SSID _saved_ somewhere?
I've tried forgetting the network and re-adding it as well as rebooting the phone etc. Any ideas? is there a db somewhere that might store this info?

I've upgraded my ROM and everything works now

Wlan suddenly stopped working.

Hi.
Ive been using cyanogenmod since i got my nexus.
Been running gr8. No problems what so ever.
Now however my wlan suddenly decided to be unavailable.
I was running CM5.0.6 + DesireCamera OC/UV kernel.
Symptoms: When enabling Wifi i get no Icon and if i scan for networks I see no networks.
What ive tried so far without luck in order.
Reflash cm 5.0.6. <- multiple times
reflash desirecam <- multiple times
push bcm4329.ko <- multiple times
wiped all and
Kang-o-rama 0.6
Edit
Just tried reflashing radio and then pushing bcm4329.ko.
still no go
And it still isnt working
Am i missing something ?
Heres what i got from lolcat.
V/WifiStateTracker( 134): Connection to supplicant established, state=SCANNING
D/NetworkStateTracker( 134): setDetailed state, old =DISCONNECTED and new state=SCANNING
V/WifiStateTracker( 134): Changing supplicant state: SCANNING ==> SCANNING
D/ConnectivityService( 134): Dropping ConnectivityChange for WIFI: DISCONNECTED/SCANNING
D/SettingsWifiEnabler( 187): Received wifi state changed from Enabling to Enabled
I/wpa_supplicant( 550): CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-RESULTS Ready
thanks in advance for any help.

WiFi connecting issue

I have noticed a pattern with ROMS that I have used on my ROGERS Dream which has the 2708 spl + radio combo. The Wifi of every ROM which I have tried to use which is claimed to have wifi working by other dream users who use it doesn't work. It seems to timeout.
The only exceptions to the rules are CM6.1 and ezterry's MT3G port.
In the latest 2.1 rom I have tried, this is what happens after clicking "Connect" on a known network:
D/AccessPointState( 3735): matches wifiConfig.eap=null
D/AccessPointState( 3735): security == WPA_PSK or WPA2_PSK
D/AccessPointState( 3735): updateWifiConfiguration() hasEap=, ssid"xxxx", eap=null, phase1=null, phase2null, identitynull,
V/WifiMonitor( 2920): Event [CTRL-EVENT-STATE-CHANGE id=-1 state=2]
D/BluetoothHeadset( 2920): Proxy object connected
D/AccessPointState( 3735): matches wifiConfig.eap=null
D/AccessPointState( 3735): matches wifiConfig.eap=null

V/WifiStateTracker( 2920): Changing supplicant state: SCANNING ==> SCANNING

Other G1 users seem to be able to use the same roms with no trouble. I'll try connecting to a different network tomorrow.
Any thoughts?

Lockscreen freezes a few seconds after wake then wifi disconnects - then reconnects.

Hello,
I have a little problem.
My Phone is a Samsung Galaxy S i9000, CM10.1 latest nightlie, semaphore kernel 1.9.8s + bigmem libs.
Since a few days, when i wake my phone from sleep, the lockscreen hangs a few seconds, the i see that the wifi sign i the status bar disappears, then immediately reappears.
then i can unlock the lockscreen without problem. the problem appears after a little time in sleep. i did not encounter it (till now) when there is only a short time between sending to sleep and waking the phone up.
I recorded a log with "catlog" (logcat), there i discovered something i think (i mean i am no total noob, but some part from android make me sweat^^, like terminal stuff and logs^^ (not reading them but understanding them^^). The problem starts at line 3004 in the logcat (at today: "01-31 - 16:21:44.035" where it states "Waking up from sleep...")
i added the logcat txt file, maybe someone wants to take a quick look at it. i would really appreciate it.
i tried a few things. cleared dalvik chache, tried different wifi options but nothing.
a few days ago i installed "Toggle2g" -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739530
it worked fine, without a/the problem. But i got the suspicion that it maybe has something to do with it.
I deinstalled it but the problem stays. if i diable wifi everything is normal, no lag after wake.
Maybe someone can help me?
and sorry for my english, sometimes i dont know the word and the gramatics. I´m from germany.
Greetings,
Strainhunter
i´ll add here a part from the log txt-file from which i think its the critical part (starts wherer my phone wakes and end when wifi is reconnected.
Ill attach the full file too.

Hi again,
Today i did a full wipe, formated system, re flashed Cm10.1 31.01. nightlie, semaphore kernel 1.9.8s, and bigmen libs and restored my user apps via Titanium Backup.
But it happens again.
I found out that i happens only when wifi is on during sleep. Sometimes i doe not happen for 2 hours or so, and sometimes after around 15 minutes.
I have the suspicion that it may too only happen when the loading cable is connected, im testing this right now.
Does anybody have the same/similar problem? or does somebody know what may be the cause for this behavour?
I maybe will try again with the stock cm10.1 kernel and without bigmem libs, but i dont have much faith, because i have semaphore and bigmem libs for a long time running, without the problem.
I want to say i am not someone who makes a thread for every little problem ("like wheres the developer options gone?" or similar), but this time i need some help.
I have android for about 2 years now and learned, read all my self, when i had a question about something i searched everything my self and did not ask in a forum or similar. Only 1 time i asked a question here (which i fixed myself then, because i had to, because nobody answered)
i see this here going the same way (exept fixing it i think)
What can i do?
Greeting, Strainhunter

I'm having the exact same problem with my galaxy note, it seems to have nothing to do with the deepsleep. The thing I did figure out is, it doesn't happen on stock ICS or JB roms (or based on that), but when I'm using CM10.1 it does happen. Maybe a good thing to know is, that it also happend on my Stock GB rom, like 6 months ago...
Cheers,
Kreekhoorn
Thanks for replying

Hi,
Thanks for replying. Feels good to see that i am not the only one with this problem.
The weird thing is that i have cm10.1 since the first day, and i had the same configuration a few days when the problem occurred.
For now i set the wifi-sleep-policy to "never". Before i had it set to "always". Since then i did not encounter the problem, but probably have no wifi when sleeping. But atm i can live with that. Maybe the problem goes away as suddenly as it did appear^^
Btw, a friend of my said, "Maybe it would be better to go back to the stock rom if the problems are not there"
But i said "No, Way!" CyanogenMod FTW
Have a nice day and greetings from Germany,
Strainhunter
Maybe fixed
Hello,
Two days ago i switched the setting for "Keep Wifi running on standy" back from "Never" to "always, just to see if the Problem still remains, and voila...no freeze after waking the device from sleep till now^^
Maybe something was fixed i the recent 4.2.2 CM-Nightlies, or i unknowingly did/removed/changed something that was causing the problem, i dont know, but i happy :victory:
Just wanted to say that,
Greetings, and happy flashing,
Strainhunter

Hey mate, I know it is been 6 months since you last posted regarding this problem. For a month now and since I flashed a new ROM on my Galaxy note N7000, I'm having this silly WiFi disconnection issue and random freezes. I'd appreciate any enlightenment on the subject, if any. Thank you in advance.

WiFi Problem in Oreo: NETWORK SELECTION DISABLED ASSOCIATION REJECTION

Hi guys, I'm a bit frustrated since I bought my Nokia 8 TA-1012.
[INTRO]
Besides the seller sent me a used phone, with an already opened screen, my real issue right now is with the Wifi.
My phone came from Israel and I'm using it in Brazil.
The Android is in the 8.1 version, still waiting for the camera update.
[ISSUE]
I'm having huge problems with Wifi Networks, both 5GHz and 2,4GHz, where after some time connected, the phone will disconnect and give me the following message when I try to connect again:
NETWORK_SELECTION_DISABLED_ASSOCIATION_REJECTION = #
where # is a number counter that increments everytime the phone tries to reconnect.
All my other devices are working fine on my networks, including a Galaxy S7 Edge, a Moto X 2013, a Motorola Moto Z2 Play, my Nintendo Switch, PS3, notebooks and guest devices that come here.
[WHAT I TRIED ALREADY]
setting a fixed IP in the router
resetting the router configs to default
clearing the phone cache and rebooting (solves temporarily)
rebooting in safe mode (still happens)
factory reset on the phone, install nothing and wait (still happens. Google Play Store is the first app to update)
changing network from 2,4GHz to 5GHz
changing networks channels and bands
[DISCOVERIES]
I have enabled the Developer mode and the extended Wi-Fi registry, where I can see the error message mentioned above. I see that a score is set to the network and when this error happens, the score is set at ZERO.
I read that Pixels phones had a similar issue, but none of the information provided on different sites solved for me.
[END]
I'm waiting for the camera update and hoping to fix it bt that. But, what if it don't solve it?
Does anyone have any idea how to solve this?
Device with unknown name
I found out that my device has no name at any router. Could be that be the issue, since all other devices have their name attached in the device list of the router?
When looking at the device name in the WiFi setting, it is set as Nokia 8.
Could be possible that all the routers are rejecting my phone because it has no name transmitted? I think the MAC address it's the only necessary information.
Somebody??? Please???
Debug info
I've got some information from the debug.
The file is huge, but there some information related to the WiFi, as follows:

Dear Sirs, i have the same problem with my Samsung J3 2017 with Android 8.0. All other devices can connect to the hotspot; my J3 can't connect and i have the same NETWORK_SELECTION_TEMPORARY_DISABLED and NETWORK_SELECTION_DISABLED_ASSOCIATION_REJECTION.
The phone can connect seamless to other wifi networks.
Could you please tell me how can i solve this issue?
Thank you very much in advance.
Hello.
=> can't connect and i have the same NETWORK_SELECTION_TEMPORARY_DISABLED and NETWORK_SELECTION_DISABLED_ASSOCIATION_REJECTION.
Exact same problem from the beginning with new Galaxy A8 (december 2018), Oreo 8.0.0 updated Tue 4 dec, + updated today -did not change anything re: Wifi).
Any luck with solution?
PS:
- this happens when I try to connect to my windows Asus Laptop dual band 2.4 and 5.0 Ghz wifi hotspot (from 2015);
- the new A8 connects perfectly on my old S5 hotspot, and various other wifi hotspots;
- the old S5 connects perfectly to the windows Asus Laptop dual band 2.4 and 5.0 Mhz wifi hotspot, just as any other android phone in the past 3 years.
Wifiman sees the hotspot created with Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 7265, sees SSID, sees channel 11 2452 - 2472 MHz - 38 dBm, does not see anything at 5.2 MHz.
Device manager on Laptop lets me change channel for Ad Hoc Channel 802.11b/g, but WifiMan still detects only channel 11 (channel number parameter change has no effect after restarting hotspot).
Of course: resetting network settings didn't do anything (Only sugestions by Samsung Members Experuence, other than Factory reset cellphone just out of box + updated).
Private DNS?
Maybe some help:
Some people mentioned to remove the auto DNS option, but that would not make sense in the context of DHCP options.... But....
There is this new Private DNS setting that you might wanna turn off (from auto)
Follow these steps to setup Private DNS on Android:
Open Settings and go to Network & Internet – Advanced – Private DNS or just search for “Private DNS” in settings search bar.
It s been good for me so far, but I let you confirm that it last for you too.
Hello,
Have faced similar problem with "Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite" and I've fixed it by changing 5G band from AC to A/N (in my case) worked fine, but once I change to A/N/AC doesn't works (my router MikroTik AC Lite)
Hope helps for somebody
Possible solution association rejection
Rebooting the phone has always worked for me. But issue will come back in days. I connect to a lot of different WiFi networks during the week, but happens with my home network only.
The second solution that works often is turn off Bluetooth and mobile data and then set the phone in airplane mode for a couple of minutes.(not too shortly)
Have you tried another network? I had this issue in a ****ty hotel in Norway but home it works fine. Also, everyone else had the network working perfectly. Maybe this phone is a bit picky with networks.
I found the same problem with Redmi A2, the problem was solved after disabling the 5 GHz band in the Access Point configuration, in other words my AP only uses the 2.4 GHz band.

Oo @Acir aqui é dbpm1 direito de Santa Catarina rs
It may be a little too late but have you tried the "Reset Wi-Fi, mobile and Bluetooth" option in the 3dots top right corner on Network & Internet settings?
That by itself should resolve the issue, but if you did a factory restore and even after that if the wifi isn't connecting, you may have (had?) a defective device or an incorrect rom written to it.
Let us know in a reply below!

Try to disable Protected Management Frames and Wi-Fi Agile Multiband in your router option.
I have an ASUS RT-AX58U and this was the problem for me.
I was trying to connect an old Galaxy TAB 3 10.1, with a 14.1 lineage OS (Android 7.2).
FYI
This 2 options permits to prevent hack by eavesdropping & forging management packets. source: wi-fi.org/knowledge-center/faq/what-are-protected-management-frames
I think it's safe to remove in home condition, not for sensible network
