relock and stock? (has anyone tried...?)

i was just wondering if anyone rebooted into bootloader with PASSIMG.zip on their sdcard then chose CLEAR STORAGE and then went back into bootloader with PASSIMG.zip still on their sdcard so the bootloader can check and install the "update"??
i want to try this but im not much of a 'trier' type

How is that gonna relock the bootloader

PASSIMG.zip is the original stock Nexus One Rom.
doing this update with a custom Rom gives u an error that says: "this update is older"

has anyone tried this with kings blur rom installed? its v 1.5 you think it will bypass?

The topic is a little misleading. Thought you meant that PASSIMG.zip would relock the bootloader . The update does not flash a new bootloader.
I dont see why you cant do what you said. As long as you still have recovery you can fix your phone but saying that, I dont see why you wouldnt try that first.

in the .zip there is a bootloader image idk if it will relock it or not. i just dont want to try it because im not the person to try new things BUT i guess ill have to try it now since nobody else will

we need a modded spl as an update.zip thats our only option now (unless a genius makes a batch file or something)

You were told it wouldn't relock anything, you just didn't want to read it.

UnaAble to root Nexus One

im useing ota 2.3.4 and ive tried everything to root the nexus one universal,z4,gingerbreak i have the bootloader unlocked but it will not root however gingerbreak did install su i thought my G2X was a trip this thing is giveing me more grey hair somew one have a solution

I had this problem and just managed to figure it out today (through the power of google). Superboot, oneclick and gingerbreak all don't work for 2.3.4 as of right now, so you have to use the PASSIMG method to flash an older version and root from there.
I found a good guide, but given that I've been a lurker for the past couple years as opposed to a regular poster, I can't link it. In lieu of a link, I suggest a search query such as "root 2.3.4 nd1razor"

Your bootloader is unlocked. No need for all that crap. Put the su zip on your sd card. Flash custom recovery via fastboot. Boot directly into the new recovery. And flash the su.zip from the recovery. You're rooted. The end.

you just need to flash custom recovery via fast boot or rom manager.then you can flash custom roms (which mostly have root along with tweaks) via recovery

You have them, but probably don't know how to use them. How do you check for them?
How did you put the ROM? Did you flash custom recovery?

Yes, i flash recovery-RA-passion-v2.2.1.img
Now my rom is: MIUI-1.9.16
The strange thing is that I managed to install the rom and recovery without having root permissions

Not strange. You don't need root. You have unlocked bootloader......

The ROM includes them. When you're inside the ROM, you have root.

i need some help with root

so im trying to use the all in one tool to do this. i cant seem to get the htc drivers installed, something wrong with my OS, are those drivers required to do this, cause it seems like vista can still see your phone couldnt it>? also does disk drive need to be selected or htc sync? i dont know what option on the phone to select for all this. thanks

i had the same problem, your best bet is too relock bootloader run the att stock ruu unlock bootloader install wcx recovery download wcx rom and kernel and its easier to use the toolkit go into the folder then data and kernels and move wcx kernel into the stock one then run the toolkit flash the "stock aka wcx kernel" then flash the rom from the sd card

how to root and load custom roms?

so im sure im going to get abuse for this, but im stumped !
i have rooted several devices previously with ease, mainly using cwm. however ive had my z a week now and im no further than unlocked bootloader! can somebody explain in easy step by step fashion how to root and install a clean rom !?

first you need to do some research before you go playing, always keep a stock FTF to hand just in case anything goes wrong
ROOT
Install CWM
Stock rom which allows you to do a bit more modding
A must for the XZ: Pure sound
CWM Will allow you to install Rom's and mods. but at the moment you will have to say on Andriod 4.1.2 becuase you will have a locked bootloader and if you unlock that (You have to enter a certain code in a program ) you really need to know what you are doing becuase or at least something
P.S. Here to help but you do need to read, not just jump in at the deep end and hope for the best

[Q] Install new Rom but ?

Hey guys i want to install a new rom on my HTC One but only thing holding me back is that i don't know how to unroot and flash everything back to stock well because i dont have the original rom for my phone because Vodafone AU has not released it yet, can i do a nandroid backup of the system and restore it if something goes wrong

This guide will walk you through the steps of unlocking, rooting, backing up, etc.
Unlocking through HTC Dev will show on the device that it has been unlocked but if you wish to go the whole way and s-off following this guide you can unlock and if you have to relock at a later stage it can be done without leaving any trace.
Before you do any of this though read all you can about unlocking and s-off.
