Setcpu? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Which is the best setting to keep your setcpu for day to day use? Userspace? Performance? Conservative? On demand? Ineractive?

On demand probably.

Anybody else any suggestions

I use interactive... and screen off interactive..
Sent using SkyRadier 3.2 RC3 Incredible ROM with King Kernel #5 and the 2.15 Radio.

I kept stock myself, Min 245 Max 998 I believe, but here's a thread for this( n1 setcpu)

N1 running psfreedom recovery and MIUI! sent via XDA app =D

I have my set CPU to on demand.
But you should also enable profiles...
Such as "screen off" set to 245 for max and min that way when you lock the screen your saving the most power. Also for my own sake I set it for "battery<20% to be around 600 max and of course 245 min, just in case I'm low on power and need to conserve for some phone calls.

Cpu Slow After Root

I just rooted my HTC Hero (Sprint) Stock 2.1 and now I notice my Cpu is running slow. If I install SetCpu it speeds it up right away...Upon opening SetCpu I notice my Cpu speed says 245 mhz max/min. When I the refresh it it says 480/528 but after my screen turns off and back on it slows down again and returns back to 245 mhz. I never had this problem until after I rooted the phone. Why does my phone keep reverting back to 245 mhz and slowing down after I turn my screen off? Also it seems like my Battery life has gone down drastically...
edit: I intalled overclock widget and when I open it it also says 245 mhz. When I then set it up to 528 it makes my phone run fast again. As soon as I turn my screen off and back on it automatically reverts back to 245...
What ROM are you running? If it is not a ROM running an overclockable kernel apps like setCpu and OC widget will actually slow your phone down. If you would like to see your clock speed without this side-effect, I suggest SystemPanel.
The 245 is what it goes too when sleeping, give it a minute or so and you would see that change on the apps, although your phone should be doing it right away. I suggest running a rom with overclock, and setting screen off settings to 245 min and 528 max, does wonders for my phone coming out of lock

Depends on the ROM. Fresh Toast 2.1 has issues with setCpu and several people have reported issues with recieving calls if the screen off frequency is enabled in OC widget. I disagree with the screen off frequency for non-overclockable roms. Several users of Fresh ROM, not just myself have accidentally left OC widget or setCpu on when switching from toast to fresh and have noticed the same symptoms. Flipz himself has also said the same thing, if you try to overclock a non-OC ROM you will actually underclock it to the point it is unusable.
I did say to do it on an overclocked rom. If it's a stock kernel, then do not mess with the frequencies, it's a fight, and kernel beats app every time, effectively stopping everything
till they agree

[Q] Proper setup for Set CPU on Captivate

Hi fellow androiders......have loaded Set CPU and would like to know what if any is the optimum profile(s) setup for the Captivate.....Thanks
I turn my CPU back to 1 ghz if temp > 50
I also go 600mhz max when the screen is off.
I don't see much need for the rest, but I'm curious to see what others add.
What is the lowest the CPU can go on the Captivate?
Sent from my iPhone with the bigger Gee Bees.
Pretty nice app, although I can't seem to be able to go above 1ghz in cognition 2.3B2... But I have set to.
Temp>60 400mgz (I live in the desert)
Temp>50 800mhz(totally nessicary)
screen off= 100-400
charging= 800-1000
and some other little battery things thrown in.

lowest is 100mhz... would NOT recommend setting MAXCPU on anything to that!!
It will idle at 100, but if it can't clock up, you'll never be able to use it. 400 is functional for call/txt.
I never have heat issues with my Captivate, and I don't do any oc-ing/uv-ing. I personally use:
Screen off: Max 200, Min 100, Scaling Conservative, Priority 100
Charging/Full: Max 100, Min 400, Scaling Performance, Priority 75
Battery<101%: Max 800, Min 100, Scaling Conservative, Priority 50
With Darky's ROM and Speedmod K12N kernel, 800MHz cap gives plenty of performance. 200MHz while the screen is off is just fine for playing music in PowerAMP with headset controls.

[Q] best setcpu settings for t-mobile G1

hello i am searching for the best setcpu settings for G1 so i will get the hell out of my g1 !! please help and if double post sorry i didn't see the other at related threads
576 max, 528 min
122 122 on sleep
This is the setting that I have been using, the good thing is it has failsafe profile as well to prevent overheating
Profiles are listed according to order (high priority to low)
Main setting 528 max 245 min
Screen off 245 max 122min (245 max to allow background apps to function properly)
temp>38.6 352 man 245 min
Charging 537 max 245 min
Battery<40% 480 max 245 min
u can set your own max speed, but not advised to go beyond 576
245 is set as minimum when awake because that is the original minimum clockspeed of the cpu
remember to check 'set on boot' and 'enable profile' setting
change them to your liking n have fun!
p/s: my setting is based on this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6762470&postcount=208

try it out for yourself, set it, and forget about it, and do your normal daily usage, after that you'll notice of the extra juice available

Keep in mind, the best settings may be none at all.
SetCPU does take a few MB of available RAM - a precious commodity on the G1. I've been going without it using Farmatito's kernels - it defaults to 528 and 245, I think. Only drop about 1% an hour on standby.

Good idea! It may be wise to remove the SetCPU to get more available RAM if the battery won't drop fast without SetCPU.

[Q] Best Governor for Setcpu?

Hey guys. Just wondering which governor works the best for you guys. Want to find the perfect compromise between battery life and no lag while scrolling.
i find that snartassv2 works best for me
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Lagfree using Abyss 2.6 does what it says, very smooth desktop scrolling in ADW EX, even at stock 1.4GHz.
Battery life seems ok, and heat is about the same as On Demand.
For SetCPU
- Use Ondemand, that will give performance when CPU need it
and In profile add power saver (200 min 500 max), when screen off. if compromise any SW then max 800
What is the necessity to set this profile if the phone goes into deep sleep? Many times we don't need apps working in the background...
For instance I disabled all the background activities of apps requesting data (autosync...) and I am always in deep sleep with screen off...
My 2 cents.
Cheers.
I see guys. Been bouncing back and forth between intellidemand, smartass v2 and lagfree. Lagfree seems to consume more batteries though
abyssPlug
Sorry to bring this thread back to life but I was wondering what everyone thought the optimal settings for CPU speeds would be.
Galaxy Note GT-7000
CheckROM
Abyss Kernel
On Demand governer
I have them set right now for min 200 and max 1500. I had the set at min 50 and max 1600 but the min 50 made the phone a little laggy.
Another question, what should I set the temp profile to temp wise?
Thanks in advance
right now im running ondemand....min 200 max 1664
abyss kerenl... stock rom....
seems fine to me....

[Q] Optimal CPU settings

Hello, I tried searching but didn't find a thread about this. Sorry if there is one that I didn't find. I'm playing around with SetCPU and trying to figure out optimal settings. I know its a matter of preference but I wanted to see what everyones opinion is and what they have theirs set as. I have:
CheckROM Revo noteHD v5
Abyss Kernel
On Demand governor set
Max 1500MHz
Min 200MHz
I want a happy medium between battery life and performance.
I set a profile for screen off to min 200 and max 500.
I've been reading mixed reviews as to whether or not lower speeds actually increase battery life. I originally had the min at 50 but increased it to 200.
Another question is what would be a good temperature to set the temp profile to? Not sure when the phone begins to get too hot.
Thanks in advance
I used FM kernel with ondemand with min of 500Mhz and max of 1400Mhz with 2nd core always enabled, didnt notice that much of a battery loss.
go for rocket rom v22 with abbys note 4.2 kernel
set cpu min 50 max 800
on demand (if u want both cores active)
abbysnote (if u want single core running and 2nd to be used only if required otherwise 2nd would be off)
i got normal usage batt backup of 3 days least
