[Q] Optimal CPU settings - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I tried searching but didn't find a thread about this. Sorry if there is one that I didn't find. I'm playing around with SetCPU and trying to figure out optimal settings. I know its a matter of preference but I wanted to see what everyones opinion is and what they have theirs set as. I have:
CheckROM Revo noteHD v5
Abyss Kernel
On Demand governor set
Max 1500MHz
Min 200MHz
I want a happy medium between battery life and performance.
I set a profile for screen off to min 200 and max 500.
I've been reading mixed reviews as to whether or not lower speeds actually increase battery life. I originally had the min at 50 but increased it to 200.
Another question is what would be a good temperature to set the temp profile to? Not sure when the phone begins to get too hot.

I used FM kernel with ondemand with min of 500Mhz and max of 1400Mhz with 2nd core always enabled, didnt notice that much of a battery loss.

go for rocket rom v22 with abbys note 4.2 kernel
set cpu min 50 max 800
on demand (if u want both cores active)
abbysnote (if u want single core running and 2nd to be used only if required otherwise 2nd would be off)
i got normal usage batt backup of 3 days least

SetCPU usage/benefits?

I was thinking about installing SetCPU but I have heard stories of it not working very well on the Captivate. Does anyone use this, and if so what kind of battery life improvement are you seeing? Post config settings too please!
Its working just fine. I have a live background so my battery usage isnt very great so long as the screen is on. I had some trouble with the system being slow to respond every time I turned the screen back on when I had "screen off" profile set to max 200 and min 100. then it dawned on me that it would always just underclock to 100 I set it to max 200 and min 200 when the screen is off and also started using launcher pro and it is no longer sluggish at all.
This has saved me a gratuitous amount of battery life when the phone is idle.

Thanks for these, I was looking for a some decent settings. Mine were close to that to start, but I had no idea what I was doing, haha
I had some stability problems with it that I am now fairly certain are related to adjusting the polling frequency in advanced settings. After disabling setting advanced settings on boot, and a reboot, it has not caused the phone to hang once. I am also fairly sure that the phone boots with the conservative governor enabled and min/max frequencies set to 100MHz and 1GHz, even without SetCPU - so the main benefit here is profiles to force lower clocks with screen off, or during overheat or low battery.
CPU throttles itself. Any effects of setCPU is placebo effect
Err if you set the clocks yourself, you can produce a difference depending on what it's catered towards. I'm sure if I set the max clock to 200 (assuming the app works) for all situations there will be a difference.
Does the stock ROM have a perflock like the EVO that we need to disable?
Also, does the stock ROM automatically underclock at times, or???
I've now verified after clearing user data, the stock firmware already sets the conservative governor and allows it the full range of frequencies supported by the CPU. Only benefit from SetCPU should be profiles - reduce max clock when hot or low battery, that sort of thing.

I was going to make a screen off profile of 200mhz, to save battery. Should I bother doing this?
Edit: Nevermind, I'm just going to uninstall it. It's locked up my phone twice already
Default Profile: 800 MHz
Profiles:
Temp > 46 C -- 400 Max 100 Min Conservative
Battery < 40 -- 400 Max 100 Min Conservative
Screen Off -- 400 Max 100 Min Conservative
This now gives my phone life of about 2 days with moderate use (1 hour calls, 1 hour browsing and another 30-45 mins of using apps that need screen on like games, etc)

One thing u got to keep in mind, CPU scales up when woken from low speeds (like when u set for 200 n this takes a second or two). After some R&D i realized 400 MHz when sleeping is optimal with hardly noticeable lag.

well, i have tried playing heavy games like asphalt 5, dungeon hunter, assasin's creed... these all games seemed to work with no lag even at 400 MHz when my battery was less than 40. Most apps I have or used or saw were very comfortable even at 400 MHz. But with multiple apps open, sometimes there was lag, so i set the max at 800 MHz, instead of 1 GHz.
Also, I set my connection to EDGE from 3G. This helped reduce phone from getting heated up with long calls.
I tried using this app myself but uninstalled it after a week. While I'm sure there was some underlying cause, it made my phone never wake up from sleep mode when it turned off.
Honestly thou, I know several android phone owners with s lot of phones That didn't see any real change in their battery life as s result. And based on my experiences, I'd say stay away from it.

[Q] best setcpu settings for t-mobile G1

hello i am searching for the best setcpu settings for G1 so i will get the hell out of my g1 !! please help and if double post sorry i didn't see the other at related threads
576 max, 528 min
122 122 on sleep
This is the setting that I have been using, the good thing is it has failsafe profile as well to prevent overheating
Profiles are listed according to order (high priority to low)
Main setting 528 max 245 min
Screen off 245 max 122min (245 max to allow background apps to function properly)
temp>38.6 352 man 245 min
Charging 537 max 245 min
Battery<40% 480 max 245 min
u can set your own max speed, but not advised to go beyond 576
245 is set as minimum when awake because that is the original minimum clockspeed of the cpu
remember to check 'set on boot' and 'enable profile' setting
change them to your liking n have fun!

try it out for yourself, set it, and forget about it, and do your normal daily usage, after that you'll notice of the extra juice available

Keep in mind, the best settings may be none at all.
SetCPU does take a few MB of available RAM - a precious commodity on the G1. I've been going without it using Farmatito's kernels - it defaults to 528 and 245, I think. Only drop about 1% an hour on standby.

Good idea! It may be wise to remove the SetCPU to get more available RAM if the battery won't drop fast without SetCPU.

Best settings/frequencies for OC/UV Beater?

Hi there,
I'd like to overclock my IncS to 1,3 Ghz...
But I don't know the right settings.
Can you please tell me the right setting for best performance (e.g. oc to 1,3ghz) and best battery life?

Set max to your desired, min to the lowest it will go and scaling to smartass.
I'm OCd to over 1.4 and no issues... UCd to 192 with smartassv2 governor

the best performance I have experienced in my INC is when I put oc / uv beater to the following:
wake gov: ondemand
wake mins: 245000
wake max: 1228800
Sleep gov: Conservative
my sleep: 245000
Sleep max: 691200
when I take a test in antutu nenchmark for I the following result.
score: 2729
If I clocked lower or higher, the result is lower
Overclocking depends entirely on your chip.
You should use whatever governor suits your needs.
I personally use ondemandx which speeds up on demand (as the name implies), conservative tries to keep the frequency as low as possible, interactive uses max frequency if min isn't enough, smartass is an improvement of interactive that keeps performance high while improving battery life (meaning there's little reason to use interactive).
You can find it in more detail here.
So basically, smartass if you want performance, conservative if you want battery life, ondemand if you want something in between. In reality though, I don't think you'll see much difference between them and I've seen no difference in idle power draws, so if you don't use your phone all that much, they won't be that different.
Once you've picked a governor, you should set min speed to 122000 (no reason to use any higher) and max to whatever you want. Your phone will probably crash or suffer from bad performance if you go over 1.5 GHz, but it varies a lot. Might happen even earlier.
Once you've found your desired performance level, you should start tweaking your voltages. You can do that under the UV profile. In there, you can adjust voltages at different speeds and the phone will automatically use them at whatever speed it's at. You should undervolt to increase battery life, so start by reducing all by 25 or 50 and then temp apply. Use it like that for a couple of hours and if it doesn't freeze, you're probably stable. You can either stop here or spend many hours tweaking it further, but that'll take many hours to get right.

In my opinion, and I'm sure many others', Virtuous daemon is the best by far.
It comes standard in a lot of roms, and using the OC/UV beater

it would have the best performance. I've set mine similar to yours and with this method, you can set the phone to underclock when battery reaches a low level

[Q] Best Governor for Setcpu?

Hey guys. Just wondering which governor works the best for you guys. Want to find the perfect compromise between battery life and no lag while scrolling.

Lagfree using Abyss 2.6 does what it says, very smooth desktop scrolling in ADW EX, even at stock 1.4GHz.
Battery life seems ok, and heat is about the same as On Demand.
For SetCPU
- Use Ondemand, that will give performance when CPU need it
and In profile add power saver (200 min 500 max), when screen off. if compromise any SW then max 800
What is the necessity to set this profile if the phone goes into deep sleep? Many times we don't need apps working in the background...
For instance I disabled all the background activities of apps requesting data (autosync...) and I am always in deep sleep with screen off...

I have them set right now for min 200 and max 1500. I had the set at min 50 and max 1600 but the min 50 made the phone a little laggy.

Overclocking htc one m7

dear modders
i just want to say i overclocked my htc one m7 cpu from 1.7ghz to 2.1 GHZ
with a custom kernel called ElementalX-m7-22.3-Sense
is this save can the phone run this without any stability issue's or shall i downclock it to 1.9
i use M7_Sense7_artmod_10.0 rom Lolipop 5.0.2 with sense 7 cause this is the only one without any bugs like no sound when you got called or sms sound's no boot sounds
i fixed my boot sound anyway on this rom
so my question is wont my phone be fried by this overclock cause i saw in the aroma installer that it can be overclock till 3 GHZ

Overclocking the CPU in any system usually results in 2 main things:
a. Significantly shorter battery life.
b. heating issues.
sometimes (less frequently) you might experience a crash and fc here and there.
So yeah, it won't be all rainbows and butterflies.
PS: you probably won't reap the benefits of your now overclocked CPU without an app like no frills CPU or kernel Aduitor. Your device's performance isn't just about its CPU frequency, there's the min Max frequency your system is allowed to utilize, the CPU governor, and the I/o scheduler..

PPS: don't and I repeat DO NOT go anywhere near 3 GHz.

I'm runnimg 2.1 Ghz OC for over 2 years without any issues. I would like to note that 2.1 Ghz on Elemental was not too stable for me, so I ran that on 2.0 Ghz. Anyway - i don't have any issues with my kernel, no overheating, battery lasts 100% same as stock frequency, no reboots, everything works as it's ment to work. If you really want to run on that frequency, make sure you set your voltage table to match your CPU clocks. Undervolting is not a good idea on such high clocks, so you might want to raise your voltages for higher frequencies a bit

yeah i could raise also min clocks might turn that a noch up
just was wondering if it was possible without any harms
there are now on 384mhz 1 core is always active and 3 others are sleeping aid64 tells me
the temps are now 29 celcuis for 2.1 ghz
