Thanks for quick answers...!
do you have rooted phone ??
first you have to root your phone.
Phone is rooted..
Newest Superuser + Busybox
After Foyo flashed back to JM6 is this the Problem?
I had exactly the same problem and then I decided just to delete nv_data files. And it worked. The system changed my product code to MTL from the .bak files

have you tried to let the phone awake while writing $ su ?
you should give access to Superuser to use "su" on shell every time you do a wipe..and you can do it only if the screen is ON
Which File i have:
.nv_data.bak
.nv_data.bak.md5
nv_data.bin
nv_data.bin.md5
Thank you so much
The deleting Worked perfect the only Problem now is i cant see when i got 3G or some Connection to Internet.. I tried the internet and its worked but i cant see the Icon, but thats not that Problem, but when someone have a way to repair please post it
EDIT* After Rebbot all worked ok
So, the funny way with deleting the files worked perfectly

Does this app work for milestone?
wwwdroid-lifecom/2010/08/06/android-2-2-on-droid-rooted-with-easy-root/
need to add in the "." as can post links..
It lists milestone so I'm sure it would.
Needs to be >2.1 i believe
i try it .. its really wonderful ..
just seconds then reboot and your phone root ..
i have milestone 2.1
great~!! finally .. the easiest wat to root...!
So this does work then?
Sent from my Milestone using XDA App
yap.. go the homepage and look for the one for milestone..
note: this is only for root only.. nothing more nothing less
got it running. root apps now function.
but root with adb shell doesn't. if I try to remove stock apps like motonav i get permission denied. or if I try to remount with rw option is tells me "remount failed: operation not permitted"
can anyone help?

I did. I googled around and tried to change folder permissions, remount system, data and all that, put none of it works. all shell su commands are denied.
can anyone confirm this, or is it really just me?

Yeah, same for me. The interesting thing is that I was able to delete some system apks step by step, so somehow I had rw at /system but that was only for like 2 mins, then it stopped working. After some reboots, trying to unroot and root again it worked again for some time...too crazy...in the end I messed it up and had to flash the stock sbf, because the market didnt work anymore. Dunno what happened there, but was my first try at rooting anyway
Furthermore shell and /system were denied, remounting to rw didn't work either!
Hey there xda forums,
so a while ago i bought a galaxy s, and i was pretty happy with it! rooted it, used a lagfix, and now im trying to tweak the framework-res.apk to get a glass status bar + dock.
now i know theres enough tutorials on this, and i know how the adb works, but i cant seem to 'push' my framework-res.apk back onto my phone after i've modified it.
here's what it says
Code:
C:\android-sdk-windows\tools>adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework/
failed to copy 'framework-res.apk' to '/system/framework//framework-res.apk': Permission denied
it seems i am missing some permissions. as i've mentioned, my phone is rooted, so i dont think thats the problem. anyone else having trouble trying to push apk's?
please help me out, id like some more customizing, but i cant seem to get past the 'permission denied'.
i've read a superuser authentication box is supposed to pop up when i keep the phone from going to stand by, but nothing is happening.
when i went to the adb shell and run 'su' i did get the box..
regards,
terraego
bumperdiebump,
cmon someone with a xxjf3 device must have tried adb? i really want to customize my device
I had the same trouble with ADB on my JM1 ROM, in the end I used "Root Explorer" (from the market) to alter the permissions of the system and Framework folders, to give ALL read/write access... had to reboot a few times before the permissions would stick... now adb worked first time
Just install Root Explorer, Long press on the System Folder and select Permission, then make sure ALL boxes are ticked, then browse to the Framework fodler and do the same....
Hey all!
So my problem is that my SGS can't find any SIM cards...
First of all i got 2.1 android and then i updated to 2.2 version:I9000NEJP2
After that it seemed that my SGS was really slow, so i decided to use CFW.
I installed Darky's v.8.0
Everything worked fine, was really fast.
The next step was to unlock the simlock. First i tried SGS Unlock freeware.
I watched some vids and read some threads and the most of em said or wrote that this app worked fine. I tried it but the app couldn't find any codes on the phone.
After that i decided to try the PC version. I downloaded "Generate Unlock Windows" but this doesn't work for me too. No keys were shown in the box -.- .
So i tried it sometimes, and the result was, that i couldn't use my SGS any more.
Can't find the sim. I tried several times, nothing worked.
Then i downgraded my fw to I900XXJP2 once more, but useless...
does anybode have an unfreeze code, or does anybody know how i could solve that prob?
maybe unlock-code?
and if yes, where could i get this the best way?
Simlock is [3; Austria]
IMEI (still the original one): 354795/04/228598/8
thanks for any kind of help
maybe i'll sound a little bit nooby, but i'm new in that forum and also a new android user
thx
This may or may not solve your problem but some people have found that their SIM card seems to stop working after they have changed their product code. The fix for this is to run the following commands from ADB (you need to be rooted with SU installed):
- adb shell
- su
- busybox chown 1001:1001 /efs/nv_data.bin
- reboot
Or if you have a Terminal Emulator on your phone you can do the following:
-su
-chown 1001:1001 /efs/nv_data.bin
-reboot
AFAIK it can't do any harm running this file ownership command on nv_data.bin even is it isn't the cause of thr problem so give it a try, I hope it helps!
so first of all i got to tell u, that i've never used ADB before, and i do not know what that is and how i can start that
i started to google it but after reading several pages i'm do not know more...
could you pls tell me how i can start and type that?
and also where i can find it?
thx
didnt work
I tried the one with the terminal emulator..
did everything like u wrote, reboot...
nothing happened
seems that i ruined something -.-
maybe an other idea how i could solve that prob?
additional information: i got a little simcard symbol at the top of the screen and next to it there is a callsign
try nav_data.bin copy to your pc and run sgux from cmd or post it here

in market download super manager also install busybox if you don't have
run super manager>settings>select busybox file
then select /system/xbin/busybox
and select enable ROOT function
after that run file explorer in super manager and go back till first folder isn't acct and 2nd cache folder; now scroll to efs and copy nv_data.bin to sdcard
after that you can unclick enable root function in settings of user manager

So for ON is network lock which is good.
Ok you keep your orginal nv_data file on pc and copy these files to your efs folder with super manager. Then reboot phone and post back does sim work now.

Not sure but try this. delete files I send you in elf folder and copy these 2 files from zip and then reboot phone and see with code is network lock on or off and if it doesn't work then delete files from elf folder (ones I send you) and copy orginal nv_data.bin back; then reboot phone and with code see network unlock
and please post back for all situations. Also try booting phone without any sim in it and then with sim
when enter code if no locks are there then it should be everything like in picture

OK this is last shot. If nothing worked before try these 2 files from zip on phone and post back; and before coping them delete old ones and also can you post your nv.log from efs folder?
Tried everyone of your solutions and in every case i could NOT see the [ON] or [OFF].
It seems like it disappeard. Only space left, no symbols, nothing.
And the card can't be found too.
ups sorry forgot to attach 2 files. If this doesn't work I don't know what will. then put back orginal file in efs folder.
Also if you know someone who has also sgs still locked to your network copy his files here (complete efs folder)
all files I posted are modified and worked without problem on my sgs. Also please post nv.log from you efs folder here
soo, i flashed a new rom, after rebooting i realised that my internad sd card is missing
i could find it in mnt/emmc but the phone wasnt using it at all...
long story short i checked some forums and i found out you can edit the vold.fstab and get it working... Now theres another problem, my vold.fstab is Read only ( few failed atempts to change it)
i found another solution which included terminal emulator- this one worked like a charm BUT i have to retype and unmount-mount that everytime i reboot my phone ... i personally find it silly
sooooo is there any other solutions, or some guide how to change the premission on my vold.fstab so i can edit it? or am i forced to buy a SDcard
Everything on /system is read only by default.
'adb remount' will sort that.

So how do you remount? Sorry, im new to this stuff
adb remount is a command sent from your PC to the phone. I figured if you were messing about with system files you'd have an idea what you're up to
To make it all simple, get Root Explorer, that has a nice R/W button that you tap, make your changes and tap it again to go back to R/O

Hi
I have successfully rooted my phone and have taken the wpa_supplicant.conf file from my previous phone, I have copied it through adb numerous times and everytime I reboot it is replaced with a blank file.
I tried copying it through twrp which partially worked; the file was full however wifi would not work. I checked and this was because the permissions were set to root:root, I switched it to system:wifi and rebooted. No go the file was replaced with a blank one... at least wifi is working again!
Is there another part of the phone that is checking the file and reverting it? I have trawled google and struggled to find anything similar.
thanks

you can try to change the owner and group of the file to wifi:
PHP:
mount -o rw,remount /system
chown wifi:wifi /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
ls -la /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
-rw-rw---- wifi wifi 2343 2016-07-11 10:31 wpa_supplicant.conf

Thanks, I have just tried this and it also doesn't work. The phone is presently locked to vodafone, and there is always an entry in the replaced supplicant file that is "VodafoneWiFI". Also even though the phone is rooted I have removed the stock facebook app amongst others and everytime I reboot these are replaced like nasty little viruses lol.

Stock rom will reinstall all stock apps on reboot.
try this
PHP:
su -c "cat /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf > /storage/sdcard1/wifi-networks.txt"
Make the necessary changes and revert
PHP:
su -c "cp /storage/sdcard1/wifi-networks.txt /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf"
you should be able to see the info inside the .conf file with any notepad and recover the passwords

Ahh so there's not much I can do against the stock rom to prevent it from reinstalling apps apart from flashing a custom rom? I suppose the stock rom is replacing the file also? thanks for the above although recovering the passwords isn't my problem I was hoping to have it use the new configuration and not have to put passwords everytime I connect to a network I have been to before.
I was amassing quite the city network lol
