HELP! SIM card not reading!!! - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i just got the Galaxy S and i put the SIM card in but i get nothing! its like the SIM card isnt even in the phone i have the GSM version and my Carrier is GSM too Help me Please!

no need to be surprised.
it IS POSSIBLE that the SIM card you have is NOT compatible with the phone, why?
Because i exactly found this issue with another phone, but if i put another SIM card from any other cell phone company into it, then it works fine.
You might need to find a newer or older version of the SIM card from your cell phone provider
you can also ask friends / family to let you try their SIM card on your SGS to see if those reads fine

Sim card not recognized!!

Hi to everyone! I recently bought an unlocked Diamond from Germany. I have tried several sim cards on it and each on works but when i try my greek cosmote sim card it shows an icon sim with an x on it and sazs sim card is missing, that means it doesn't recognize a sim card is inserted. When i try this card into a TyTNII that i own there is no problem!! What can be my problem here? The phone is for sure NOT locked to any network!! Thanks for any answers!
it could either be a problem with the Radio not supporting the network (someone else may know more about the bands than i do) or a problem with the hardware, in which case, send it back to where u bought it (if possible).

Diamond wont receognise sim card

i have a problem with my diamond. It only reads my sim card, wont read any other sim card that is inserted. It was originally using XOR morna rom, done a new flash and still same problem. Re-flashed with a original HTC rom, but still same problem. I some how think its not a software problem as it has been flashed/hard-reset numerous times.
Any one know what problem can be or if anyone has same problem, with solution
thanks
kerim
Mmmm...
When you say it only reads 'your' SIM card, do you mean it's SIM locked. If you're on vodafone for instance, and you put another vodafone SIM in, does it recognise that? Or do you mean it won't allow any other SIM at all... even if the network's the same?
If it's the first option, your device is obviously SIM locked, if it's the second option, have you installed any security software like Ultimate Theft Alert, or similar, which will also block any other SIMs??
its not sim locked, it was an unbranded phone when i first got it. I am on three and have tried 3 different other three sim cards and also a vodaphone simcard, non of them work.
Its like there is no sim card at all. Im starting to thinbk its a hardware problem not software as i have flashed it few times now with different roms
any ideas, i need to get this working urgently
Mmmm...
Definitely sounds like a hardware issue to me. It's probably time to send it away
Hey Kerm when you put the sim cards does it ask you for for the pin??? or what you could do is see if you can try to clean the sim contact in your phone or run a eraser over the sim card contact and see if there is a difference
had a problem with an unreadable sim-card a few months ago as well; A new sim-card solved my problem... But since you are having trouble with 3 different cards, it might be a hardware problem in your case indeed.
doesnt ask for any pins, as soon as the phone starts up with another sim card inserted, it says no sim card. When it starts up with mu simcard inserted, phone function runs as normal, i can see reception bars etc
I had the same problem when i received my diamond. Tried several sim cards but none was recognized.
I received a new phone because it was a hardware failure.
Sounds like mu has a way of making a new kinda sim lock that only works with there phones ,I would digg a lil deeper and make sure its not a sim lock on your phone
what do you mean by MU, couldnt make it out. How can i find out about if its been sim locked

[Q] SIM Card Crash

So I recently purchased the Samsung Captivate to use with my AT&T GoPhone plan, but every time I boot up the phone, I get a message that says
SIM card crash
Check your SIM card or
contact customer care.
The SIM card works in other phones just fine, so it has to be a problem with this phone. I tried unlocking it, but that hasn't helped, and other carrier SIM cards work.
Any suggestions?

That sim card is not compatible with the captivate.

[Q] US Sim card doesn't work in UK o2x. Not sim locked.

Hey,
When in the UK, I can use any sim card from any carrier and they work. Now that I am in the US for 6 months, I tried using a US sim card. When I try to make a call or text, the phone loses signal. The sim works in another phone. I tried with two US sim cards and they have the same problem. Is this meant to happen? How can I fix it?
I am on RIL/Baseband v30a. I tried changing the ROM and the same thing happens!
Thanks!
Nebster
EDIT: Oops, made a mistake, UK sim card doesn't work here either. Just says Call Ended when trying to call a number (or Out of Service Area and then loses signal all together)

[Q] Does not recognise sim card

I was overseas travelling and used some different sim cards no problem. But on return, I put my original sim card in, and the xperia z says "sim card inserted, restarting" and restarts, only to display the "no sim card" icon. I've tried a lot of things, and got a new sim card from my carrier because I thought that one might have been broke because I didn't use it in a while, but the new one has the same problem.
I really hope it's not a hardware issue, the phone is older than 1yr, and I didn't buy it in this country. I suspect that it might not be, since it was working fine until I swapped sim cards. Could this be a firmware issue? Any suggestions?
[Edit] It might be worth mentioning that I did a firmware upgrade while overseas without my original sim in.
