[Q] Hide items from music player/gallery? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all. I've installed game (dungeon hunter, from gameloft), it downloaded about 130 mb of data to SD card. The problem is, that now I have tons of sounds in music player list from this game (about 200...) and pics in gallery. Thats pretty annoying... In LauncherProIcons there is option to "hide from gallery" icons files. How do I hide these game files from music player and gallery?

search for ".nomedia"

Thnx, got it.

music on diamond - how to

hi there everyone .
can anyone explain me how do i play music files that i stored on the internal storage , thrue the music TAB ?
thanx
Music tab?
Select left softkey (Library) and choose the album / playlist you would like to listen to. The first icon in the library is the currently selected playlist. Then Artists, Albums, Playlists, All Songs, Genres, Composers and finally Purchased.
Of course to be able to play tracks, you need to have synced some first using Windows Media Player. One further note... sometimes Media Player names the album art something strange which Music Player doesn't recognise, so to make sure your album art is displayed, use file explorer to rename the album art in each of your synced albums to 'Folder'.
e.g. \Internal Storage\Music\Girls Aloud\Tangled Up\Album Art.jpg - rename to Folder.jpg (Sorry about the Girls Aloud reference... it's my wifes', honestly!!)
thanks a llot budy /
you have made my day better

music app issue

ok so ima sound like a noob but idk how to do this.
i deleted all the music i had in my sd card and then i went to the music app and it scanned for files and added all my electrum drum samples. wtf.
i then added music to the Music folder but idk how to take out the music from the library without deleting it. can someone tell me?
thanks.
Don't think you can. You could create playlists to organize you're music though. The music app pretty much reads all the music on your sdcard so if your electrum drum samples are on there then it will read those too. I believe you can hide them by putting them in a folder with a period in front like so - .electrumdrumsamples try it, Haven't tested it myself but it should work

Music not showing up on my g1

i duno for some reason ..i just noticed today that my music isn't showing up at all in any of my music players..i tried 4... but when i download a new mp3..it shows up but next time i open it to play..its gone again...its all on my memory card...let me know if anyone can help
to make sure its on your sd card do you have astro, or any file manager that you can see your folders that are on the root of your sd card? if you do see if you see all the music in that folder, just a thought
Yes I see it through astro and I can select play the song in astro but no information on song comes up..I search using stock music player. Mixzing, rockon ect and none of them can find my music even if I direct it directly to the music folder..I tried flashing 5 different roms and its all the same...music doesn't show up

gallery showing unwanted content

does the gallery ALWAYS scan the whole SD card? i hate having pictures belonging to apps displayed in the gallery like asphalt game displays ALL images/videos and in Music app adds sounds. this is really annoying and wish it didnt scan all the sd card for music. are there specific folders that should be placed on the sd card or something? ie. sd:\Media\Videos OR sd:\Videos
Yeah it shows everything in folders that do not have a ".nomedia" file.
see http://androinica.com/2009/08/28/ho...iles-from-appearing-in-android-media-players/
Its not its fault though, the MediaScanner service is what it pulls data from (ContentProvider)
A settings option to disable this or look in just a couple of foldlers would be great.
Adding a .nomedia in a folder with mp3s with the intention of not getting the album art in gallery will have the side-effect of the mp3s not showing up in the music player
I've no problem getting unwanted sounds in the built in Music app by doing this:
(this was mentioned inside the T-Mobile G1 manual)
Put your alarms/notifications/ringtones in the following folders:
\alarms
\notifications
\ringtones
Those sounds will appear in the appropriate list when you choose to adjust those certain sounds, they also don't show up in the Music app. They do show up in 3rd party music app like DoubleTwist Music Player.
Code:
touch /sdcard/folderwithpics/.nomedia
takes literally 10 seconds to fix.

The method posted at Androinica.com using the text file rename method worked nicely for me.
I did however have to search out where all these files were in order to place the .nomedia files properly.

[Q] set music folders

Hi i am using miui with the music mod player. i'm trying to get the player to only search for music in one folder only. it currently searches all folders on my sd card and that includes in game music from some gameloft games i've downloaded. is there a way to get the player to just read mp3s from my /sdcard/music/ folder? thanks
