Hi all
I could have a T-Mobile branded Galaxy S. Is it possible to just replace it with the original unbranded firmware from samsung?
Cheers

In short: yes
The only thing you need to look out for is the sim-lock. Unlock your phone before you try and you should be fine. I had a 3 UK branded phone and flashed the generic firmware without any problems.
P.s. use search
Thank you I used search but specificly on T-Mobile which was probably stoopid. The seller claims that it doesn't have a simlock so I think I will go for that

Hi,
Last week, I bought an unbranded Galaxy S on a well known French Site. The phone was unbranded.
I installed the Kies software, and when I plugged my phone Kies told me I could update the firmware. I updated the firmware, and when I restarted the phone, it was not in french anymore, but the language was set to portugese, and my phone was branded for the TMN operator in Portugal.
I'm still able to use my phone with my sim card from belgium, but my phone is full with undesired logos and apps.
I've seen that it's possible to reflash an offficial ROM in the phone, but my version of Kies won't let me do this anymore.
I'd like to update to the latest unbranded French/belgian/The nertherlands version.
Is this still possible? I've found some ProductCode, but I was unable to find a corresponding HIDSWVER.
Thanks!

Hmmm... Sonuds to me like whoever you bought it from had flashed it so that it wiuld seem like it was unbranded but in reality it was a TMN device all along.
I believe that if you have upgraded your kies version to the _100 version then the registry trick will no longer work so you would have to flash it with odin.
If anyone else can chime in or if im wrong then please correct me.

I doubt someone flashed it as i had an original brand new unopened box. It was certainly not second hand.

Well its awfully odd that after flashing to the official froyo firmware on kies that it would just all of a sudden become branded.
Think about this... People use odin and even rhe reghack on kies to upgrade to "unbranded" firmware so it would only make sense that if you flashed using kies official firmware that it would revert the device to its original and branded status.

Unfortunately, that is possible We got many such a reports about phones bought in Polish markets, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8927826&postcount=92
Is Poland some phones were debranded and re-selled by mobile operators to markets. Unfortunately phones didn't get clean ProductCode and that way Kies updated firmware using version for original mobile network operator.
What about downgrading Kies and then doing the reg hack to reflect an unbranded earlier version of the firmware for your region and flashing through Kies again??
Same happened to me, bought the international version at handtec.co.uk, got the phone shipped to Mexico, and first upgrade I did on KIES installed a TMN branded firmware.
I didn't like the branded firmware, specially with all that SAPO apps, I rooted phone, installed titanium backup and deleted all apps, now only problem I have is a dancing "t" character showing on startup and shutdown.
Haven't found the reason for this, or the way to change to a unbranded UK firmware.

This should work. Check the codes for your country either that or reflash it with odin

The solution is written almost in every thread on this forum in last 4-5 days:
You have to downgrade to the older version of Kies, then make changes in the registry:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\Kies\DeviceDB\4]
"SoftwareRevision"="I9000XXJF3/I9000OXAJF3/I9000XXJF3/I9000XXJF3"
"ProductCode"="GT-I9000HKDXEU"
"HIDSWVER"=""
"DEVCONINFO"=""
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\Kies\]
"LocalVer"="1.5.3.10103.100"
Then you should be offered to upgrade to unbranded JPO for UK
I've heard that Voda is providing 2.3 update for SGS.
Which version (product code) should i be on (or spoof) in order
to get Gingerbread on my phone ?
Originally bought on ebay factory sealed, T-Mobile branded,
(Designated for use in UK), then registry spoofed and flashed
to Froyo. Dont have original rom nor info (versions and prod#).
Bought and use it in UK.
Phone as it stands now is
I9000HKDKOR
PDA XXJPY
Phone XAJPY
CSC XXJPY
P.S. The phone currently is on Vodafone network.
if you have an unlocked phone, with just a vodafone sim you wont get the update from them, The phone has to have vodafone branded firmware in order for kies to update it.
why would you want to keep vodafone firmware ? its full of bloatware,
head over to www.samfirmware.com and register for free, download Gingerbread and follow instructions.
the whole process will take less than 30min
Hello
I am wondering if its possible (and if so, if it works!) to flash a generic firmware on a Bell branded device (customization number 6616).
Thanks!
its possible to put a unbranded rom on a carrier branded xperia phone , without root i think it gets a little messy but it is possible... with root it should be easier
I'm looking for a workable reverse solution. I have an unlockable 6603. Can I flash 6606/6616 radio baseband and get LTE coverage on T-Mobile or AT&T when in the US?

i just bought s21 ultra (998b) brand vodafone, i can't debrand it to install thai firmware, i tried flash with Odin with different firmware downloaded but nothing. I also tried to go back with firm vodafone. please help me find a solution
Flashing diffrent firmware wont help,to get rid of all the vodafone apps and logo you need to change CSC from VOD to BTU ,i assume that you are in uk?
at the moment there is no option to change CSC on android 11 so it might take some time for a solution
thanks for the reply, so flashing with ODIN firmware THI won't change anything? I tried, the firmware is loaded but on restart it is always VODAFONE
I'm italian

yes no matter what firmware you flash you will still have vodafone logo ,because the CSC code of the phone its customized for vodafone IT (OMN),i have the same issue in UK , i treid to flash several firmware versions but the phone always show vodafone logo and vodafone apps ,so i guess we need to wait for a solution

Same here, S21 Ultra on H3G Uk branding. Tried the last 2 days few different firmwares with no luck .All H3G bootlogo and apps come back after restart. Hopefully Samkey will come out with a fix for this soon.
i get the issue but i find that it doesn't really matter what branding is on there if all yr network perks like wifi calling volte etc work. I got my s21 U from samsung but flatmate got his from vodafone for work and his personal 3 sim works perfectly with wifi calling etc all working.
wont be long until samkey (as said above) will be able to change csc so hang on if the vodafone logo on startup etc bothers you
I'm currently living in Japan, but will be moving back to the US in a couple months, so I recently bought a refurbished Galaxy S20 FE 5g that claimed to be unlocked from the US and had it shipped to Japan.
It works fine with my Japanese sim, but came with AT&T bloatware installed and the model number is still SM-G781U. To my understanding, an unlocked phone should have a '1' after this, signifying that it's unlocked. Because of this, I don't get OTA updated and am still stick on Android 10 and One UI 2.5. So I figured I'd learn how to flash it and do that. It says the CSC is G781UOYN1ATIG, but then when I go to Service Provider it says ATT/ATT/ATT.
Could I just flash the firmware for the SM-G781U1, CSC: XAA onto it and be able to have a fully unlocked and updated phone? Sorry I'm a bit new to this and don't want to brick my phone. Thanks!
I did the opposite (from SM-G781U1 to SM-G781U) and worked with no problems. I needed ATT Wi-Fi calling that worked only with the ATT firmware when I was on Android 10. I suggest to do a factory reset when switching between branded and unbranded but (in theory) you should keep your phone data if you flash the HOME_CSC file.
