Hot metal sim holder - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys,
I'm having HSDPA enabled, Tethering enabled and charging my battery at the same time now.
Notice my SGS is furiously hot (expected), I have my back plastic back panel removed, let the gorilla glass facing down, so that my SGS cool under air-conditioning.
To my surprise, the hottest object at the back is my sim card metal holder, it's even hotter than my charging battery.
Do you all having the same thing?
PS: don't get me wrong, my phone is working fine.

Succesfully installed mytouch 3g (no 3.5mm) housing with no hassle!

beast mode baby. First I was struggling with the "screw holes" or the golden part. but I bypassed it by not throwing in any screws at all! meaning my phone is with out screws I dont see how it effects the functionality. anyways. I bought a merlot housing off of ebay. and it did not come with screw holes. but luckily the front faceplate was so snug in tight after snapping it on, I could not take it off the second time to fix my vibration motor . only glitch is that I think I might have covered up the little multi colored LED by accident trying to pop in the metal part on the top. anyway my phone does not look beaten up anymore so Im good.
other wise everything fits. except that my vibrator motor is way too damn loud because of the "head" high drop. but oh well. btw if you guys are planning on replacing a housing and cant get the screws to fit I suggest using small amounts of glue or adhesive along the border of the faceplate and stick it on the screen, make sure you DO NOT get any of it on the screen. you will be good.
interested in selling your old housing?
its beaten up man I doubt you would want it lol

too bad you couldn't fix the vibrator motor :-(

Is your battery cover door discoloring near the charging port??

I wonder if this means my phone is overheating.
I only recently bought this phone. and have had it no more than 2 weeks.
I know this isnt dirt because it wont wipe off, and he way i hold my phone should not be causing anything on my hands to cause this.
I have a suspicion that the phone is getting so hot that it fades or burns this into the cover.
I always figured it was only the battery that over heated but looking at the picture, its pretty much only where there is no battery under it
I've had mine since december and it looks perfect still. I keep it under an Invesible Sheild though. I use wifi tether religiously and thats what really gets the phone hot.
Kinda hard to tell from the pic but it looks to be rubbing on something. Do you keep it in your pocket wit other stuff?
I've had my hero since october, use wifi tether ALL the time, and zippo. Perfect shade of beige on the back
The 2 things that get my phone the hottest:
Having it plugged in, especially into the computer here at work(low signal).
Using something that causes my wifi radio to be active for a long period of time. I think wifi tether would qualify here, so I would guess that its the cause.
I have that discoloration on mine also but it is more towards the middle and I noticed it after using the Sprint black/blue covers. I have since stopped using them and it has not changed since then

[q] battery cover

is it a problem that my sgs battery cover is a little loose, not too much, i cant see it actually move or sth i just feel it when i hold the phone
Cannot confirm. Maybe your cover is broken a little bit?

i checked and it wasnt broken its just a little out of place at the right side.
Has it been bent for some reason? The only danger I could think of is the cover to fall off, along with the battery, which hard powers down your phone. Other than that it might just be good for cooling.

[Q] Galaxy S 4 Active USB port cover not seating properly?

I've had my Galaxy S 4 Active for about a month now and one thing that really concerns me is that the waterproof cover for the USB port is really difficult to insert after charging. It was ok for the first week or so but now I have to try several times before it looks like it's seated properly. I'm concerned that as this port gets opened and closed more than the others it's developed a faulty cover and won't be water/dust proof when I need it to be.
Has anyone else noticed anything similar?
As my cover became more worn, I had to close mine a particular way to get it to seal. I'll do my best to explain it. Grab the cover between your left forefinger and thumb. Bend the cover slightly and show the cover to the left, which forces the little tether to slide into the phone without buckling. Then you can snap the cover closed fully. At least, it works on mine. I used to be able to just pysh it closed when it was new.

With my phone is the same. I cant close usb cover, left side is raised. At first 2 months cover was sitting perfectly flat in usb slot. I woud like to send it to Samsung but i need my phone, its my only phone. Im avoiding washing my phone under water, if im washing it than im protecting usb and washing only upper part of my phone. I should contact Samsung

Aluminium back cover

Hello everyone, thanks for checking out my thread :good:
As you all know, our beloved Xperia Z4 tend to heat up when doing some "intensive" work. Sure, I can live with the phone closing YouTube when it gets too hot, but the Camera app closes after taking a Full HD video for two minutes. It's quite frustrating, especially when recording a concert. That's two minutes of video and 6 minutes of cooldown.
On the other side, I just replaced my rear camera after it died from a drop. The technician glued the back cover, but I noticed that the glue was a mess and the back cover wasn't aligned properly, causing the left side of the panel to sink in. I asked other technicians if they can redo the job. However, they said maybe and no, because the back cover might crack, due to the left side sinked in.
Now, since the SoC heats up easily, and the back cover might get cracked, I waa thinking of designing a back cover made of aluminium. Basically it will act as a heatsink for the SoC while also acting as a normal back cover.
I already considered a few problems that might happen, like removing the back cover (since I believe anodized aluminium will be slippery) or making custom lenses and rubber rings for the camera and flash LED, but I wanted to know, what do you guys think? Is it a good idea?
I have bought an aluminium back cover from Aliexpress but could not test it to change of season (winter) during long delivery time.
Presently I am using a hard thick plastic back cover which stops heat reaching mu fingers and major heat dissipation is through screen only. Since I don't feel heat so I am not much worried. My phone is rooted and I am using thermal xposed module which keeps everything working in all seasons (phone has to die one day anyway).
I sometimes think of using thermal paste between the chip and phone's glass back cover but never tried it.

Late answer, but I am going to try adding extra cooling on the Z4 by adding a custom copper sheet inside with some thermal paste and replacing the thermal pad on the screen side.
