[Q]Exiting mtp lags my computer - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I exit mtp mode, explorer will take up all my computer's memory and then lag for 5 minutes or so until it frees the memory up. Is this a common problem?
However, if I unplug the usb without exiting mtp application, nothing happens.
Using the i9000M

anyone got an idea why this happen?

Turn off USB storage hang (froyo FRF50)

Lately when I try to turn off USB storage, the phone spins forever. Is my card going bad? If I hit any keys (home/back etc) it shows the boot animation(!) and then displays something like "The system is busy" with Wait or Kill Process buttons. Neither seems to do anything.
Anyone know what's up?

[Q] plugging in the wall charger

Starting yesterday, every time my wife plugs in her captivate into the wall, the menu where you chose the usb mode pops up. I cant figure out how to get it to stop. Anyone got any ideas?
Ummm turn on mass storage mode and then usb debugging? Then try plugging it in.
Ionno just a thought since you have to turn debugging off to change usb types maybe having it on will stop that??
OK, I'll give it a try. It's weird how it just started happening

If you are on Froyo, go to Settings, Applications, USB Settings, and do not use the "Ask on connection" option. For Eclair, go to About Phone instead of Applications. Gingerbread has removed this option.

[Q] MTP Mode - Turn Off ?

Question USB Debugging not working after every reboot

The phone "USB Debugging" not working properly after every reboot. The "USB Debugging" button still "ON" but it only charge the phone when connect to the pc without open a windows with internal storage shown. I have to manually turn the "USB Debugging" OFF and back ON and wait for that 10s warning to make it work again or change the Default USB configuration from "File Transfer" to something else to wake that feature up.
Is that a known bug or hardware related issue ?? Thanks
Well, I use linux (and other phones/tablets) but I usually run into one of these problems:
set the USB-mode of the phone correctly, not just charging ("circle with dot" or similar should show in top bar)
the phone must know the fingerprint of the computer (phone should notify you, so accept and store)
reboot phone after applying such changes (really, I wasted hours on this one, only to realize that only and nothing but a reboot would fix that)
Sometimes even all of them together (but perhaps it really is something specific to your phone)

Click to collapse
I will do fastboot flash once the phone bootloader is available for unlock after 168h to see if that fix the problem. Finger cross.
