OTA and market - Droid X Android Development

Are any of you guys experiencing terribly slow market speeds after the OTA? WTF? It's painful.

Nope feels the same speed to me

Try Force Closing the Market app and clearing it's cache.
There were similar complaints on the 2.3.15 Leaked version (which should be the same as the OTA). Clearing the cache seemed to fix that for other people.
I Am just getting ready to update via the 2.3.15 leak myself (had been holding out to see what OTA would be). Since there seems to be little reason to undo all my apps/settings/mods just to get the 'official' 2.3.15, I'm going to go ahead and update via the leak.

[APP] Market v 2.2.10 update .apk

Here's a copy of android market 2.2.10. Installed w/o a hitch on my phone, but be patient during install as it takes a minute.
EDIT: Though at first glance this seemed to work fine, some of my app links have gotten messed up from this. Use with caution. I'll try an update.zip version and see if that makes a difference. (No FCs for me and runs fine. No noticeable difference from 2.2.7)
For now, this is in my dropbox at http://db.tt/lWIF1OF

Not posted as any major revelation, just here in case someone might want a newer version for newer roms.

how to update to new marketplace using cm7 rc1

I can't seem to find a thread detailing how to do this..
Doesn't it just come with the tiny gapps that you're supposed to flash alongside cm?
Or is there a newer market that I am unaware about?
The one that comes with cm7 rc1 nightly 3 is 2.2.11
It happens by itself.
Since installing cm7 the normal marketplace doesn't work

This.
There seem to be a lot of small screwy things related to the google applications on Gingerbread-based ROMs. Best shot for getting everything working correctly is to do a full wipe and reflash. I know I had to do that to get GTalk working.
What about the not so easy answer?

Let me know if you figure one out. I spent about two weeks trying all sorts of off-the-wall stuff to get around having to wipe to get GTalk to work. As soon as I wiped (as I should have in the first place) it worked without a hitch.
It should auto update, at least for me it did.
If not go here

I flashed CM7 RC1 and I automatically got updated to 2.3.2.
Just give it time. It'll happen. Market updates by itself without user intervention.

me too. I didn't have to do anything. I like the new market btw, subtle changes but having more room to view apps is nice

suggests to me that it will not auto-update in the OP's case.
It seems to be half working now but I can't look ay my downloaded apps list without it crashing. All other apps are fine

Have you tried clearing the Market app's cache and data?
Clear Market data in "system / applications / manage".
[edit] I see codesplice already gave you the correct answer
No joy. I'll go for the wipe later on

Market Problems

I keep getting intermittent problems with market v3 on stock jvt. Some apps say there is an update, when you click on the app, there is no update! Tried clearing market cache, Anyone else having these problems ?

Clear data on market app and try again.
Works for me.
Thx, yeah sometimes it works, other times it doesn't, it is dodgy for me, are you having the same intermittent problems?

New market is very buggy and slow. What can i say?
That's why IMO its better to roll back to the previous version.
Settings->market->uninstall updates
The "freeze" the market updater with Titanium Backup, and you can stay on the old market for as long as you want...

^^ hey thanks for that info !! did not know that!
Thx for that. New market is terrible for me...

Ok it seems to be super quick now. No load times at all it seems. Major increase over 3.3.1.1 in my opinion.

Thanks for the heads up, it is really fast!
Anyone else in the cappy community have any feedback on the new market? It really is super snappy compared to all the other versions.

Just some feedback on this market. I had just flashed the CM7 nightly on my Captivate and then flashed this market and it screwed up how my apps were installed. The market app itself was super fast (faster than I have seen the market work in a long time), but after installing the market and starting to restore my apps, I started getting low space warnings all over the place. I started doing a lot of research on the different partitions and what was supposed to go where. I tried moving all my apps to SD, but still kept getting the low space warning and restoring apps with TiBu kept failing. Finally I figured out it was something with the market app and how it caches things. After reflashing CM7 and using only the Google Apps from ROM Manager, everything is working fine and no low space warnings. So if you notice low space warnings I would suggest uninstalling this app. I'm a BIT of a newb in flashing, although I have probably flashed my phone about 30 times.
Edit... I did read something about a market fix app, but I did not try it. It is possible this could have fixed saving of the market cache.

Yeah. I just finished setting up again after flashing. I've noticed a few back end things that didn't work before now seem to be working. For instance, before if I did a check for update it would say check for system update is not available. Now I get the usual no update necessary message. Other than that it seems the same.

Honestly, there's not much difference and if you're happy on 2233, I'd stay there. I'll continue to flash each new leak out of curiosity. A final build should be appearing in the next few weeks, because Motorola has early Q3 as there expected release which only gives them until mid-August at the latest to finalize, test, and gain approval for the update.
I wonder if there will be any differences in the official ICS release and the leaked .2233? Honestly i havent found anything wrong with 2233 yet aside from recovering a nandroid backup of it.

Mostly the issues I have found include things in Motoblur apps or backend stuff (such as the missing System Updates I mentioned earlier, Social Gallery not allowing you to add accounts, and the Device Setup wizard force closes after the initial run through), and I believe some of this stuff has been purposely disabled for these "test" builds. I also think HDCP has yet to be enabled, as running Hulu Plus in webtop mode gave me a black screen that said HDMI output has been disabled. Two of those four things are now fixed in 229, and I'm going to test Hulu Plus in about an hour. It is very close to being a done deal for sure. I would expect a new leak or two in the next two weeks with all these issues ironed out, followed shortly by news of a soak test in late-July, and a final release the first week of August. But that's all speculation on my part.

Did you try after a factory reset on 2233? Mine were there and working when upgraded from 905, but I did a factory reset and then it kept trying to add but gave me an error that read something along the lines of this has been disabled for this account. It works fine on 229.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk 2
I haven't noticed a lot of changes either, overall since all i noticed was the updated kernel and lower os resource usage.
I havent had to do a factory reset yet, and wont do it unless i have to... i am so tired of re-installing my apps and reorganizing the home screens.... lol

Titanium backup.
Yeah i hate having everything backed up in titanium cause then it takes up extra space... lol. And i always forget to go back and delete the backup after i reinstall everything. Plus its more the remembering all my settings and how i had everything arranged that annoys me.... lol

Not sure why, but after flashing to .902 and updating several times on .2233, I went back to .902 to get this new leak on, and promptly got stuck on the dual core logo. I reflashed .902 -- it went perfectly both times -- but got stuck on the big red dot again. Left it alone for almost three hours, and all it did was kill my battery.
Any idea why the exact same .902 file and procedure that I used many times before would suddenly decide to crap out on me?
Can I just flash this update over the 2233 or do I have to go back to 905 first?
I believe you have to go back to .905 first, but i could be wrong... i havent tried it yet.

Yes you have to go back to .902 first. Just like moving to .2231 or 33.
