Hello everyone,
Since Enomther's ROM thread is closed I would like to ask you a question about this beautiful ROM.
Since yesterday I'm receiving update system notification ( I own a Nexus One, so I suppose is Gingerbread update via OTA )
Well, this shouldn't happen, isn't it? I noticed that I have FOTA killer, so that should do the job, but still I'm receiving update system notifications...
Has anyone the same problem? Is there a way to disable the system update notifications?
I just flashed again the FOTAKiller-signed.zip in order to disable them, but I'm still receiving notifications...
Help please
You can disable it by updating your build.prop
Hi,
Also getting the OTA 2.3.4 update notification.
I am running Enomther 2.14.4 and have applied a patch to remove the OTA notification of the previous 2.3.3 update.
How to remove the 2.3.4 OTA notification?
please could you download it while running logcat and let the installation fail in recovery before disabling it? people are looking for the link to the OTA
FOTAKill.zip and then attempt to install the update. It'll reboot to custom recovery and stay there. Just don't do anything with it, reboot back, and the update notification should be gone.
Not to hijack. I am running cm6 and upgrade my h-boot. When I restarted the phone it ask me to update to gingerbread 2.3.3. However u still like running cm6. But it keeps asking me to update. I still not clear how to get rid of this message. Any suggeston?

Got a link to FOTAkill?
so many sources, need to get the right one that works.
Everything works. They're exactly the same one.

I have downloaded GAPPS and installed the FOTAKill apk, however the update notification still keeps popping up.
Anything I'm missing?

I am having the same issue and have tried the above solution. I have also allowed the installation to fail and restart. The OTA update notification still comes back. Any solutions?
Thanks!
Make sure that fotakill is installed to internal memory. If it is installed on the sdcard, it probably won't work.

Odd, I installed it, removed the update in /cache, rebooted, haven't seen the notification since.
I have rooted my GS4A with odin. but now i see there is a update for my phone out.
i am still on mf7, but got an update for HM2(nordic countries).
and i cant update with OTA or kies, ("unit have been changed"). could i just download the firmware from ammobile and flash it with odin? and hopefully nothing is lost?
if someone could give me a writeup i would appriciate it.. want to stay with stock roms but still rooted.
Anyone?

I just did the update myself - I use Triangle Away to work past the detection and do the OTA update, but I had to use the advanced features in the paid version to get it to work. After update you have to re-root it the same way you did the first time. Note that super su might not be installed automatically again, so you might have to uninstall it and reinstall from the playstore after rooting to get it working.
The Triangle Away setting I had to use is "System modified workaround", and the instructions are right below the setting. You enable it, reboot, then disable it and do the update before rebooting. First time I had to try a couple of times, this time I enabled and rebooted, then started the download of the update, then disabled it before installing, and it worked first try.
Good luck!

Hi thanks for your reply. i fiddled with triangle away all morning, got my status to official. but i couldnt get it to work.
here is what i`ve done:
ticked off "System modified workaround", rebooted and downloaded the firmware. but when i try to disable the "SMW" I get an error from triangle away as it could not access superuser su/root access.. so i have to wait till supersu is enabled again to gain access to triangle away to disable "SMW".
tried again and again, but everytime i get an error that says "could not update, try with kies or contact samsung".

Yeah that's the problem I had when I got the first update. What I did the second time was...
Tick system modified workaround
Reboot
Start download of update while root is not available
Click hide or whatever it is, the download will move to notifications
Wait until you have root back
Go into Triangle Away and untick system modified workaround
Proceed with update install (I think you click the notification once the download is complete).
Basically I'm guessing you have to be in the unrooted grace period to start the download, and then it won't check again, so just wait it out so you can disable it, but that's just a guess based on my fumbling around so far. If someone knows better, please correct me.

This forum is for the Galaxy S4 Active, you need to go to the Samsung Galaxy Grand forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2288
I've tried searching, but didn't seem to get anything on this one.
I've been trying to install the OTA Update to 4.3 for a minute, now... Currently, I've got the update downloaded, but it won't continue b/c it's saying the battery is too low. The thing is, the battery is at 100%. It is also plugged into a charger... Tried it with and without.
Here's info on my phone:
MJ5
Rooted via Kingo
Xposed Installer installed (very few modules installed - nothing hardcore)
RootCloak [1.4] installed in order to hide root status from the OTA update service
I have a bit of bloat uninstalled by Titanium Backup... But, that was all AT&T stuff like Navigator - I left the OTA service in place. I froze some Samsung bloat, but didn't uninstall it.
Any ideas on why I'm getting this error?
You have to be unrooted. At least that what I hear . When I got the update I did a factory reset and downloaded the update and installed with no issues.

Blargh. I unrooted via Kingo, rebooted and I am still getting the same low battery error.
I really don't want to have to do a factory reset...... Are there any other options?
Ah, great. Now Kingo won't re-root the phone. Looks like factory reset is what I'll be spending my evening doing.
Great. Did a factory reset, and went to update. It failed; said the installation was interrupted.
I tried two more times... Same results. This is getting pretty frustrating...

Unfortunately nothing will work except restoring back to stock. I had to do that for the last 2 updates we've received. I just did it to get the last update and I am staying stock until Kitkat arrives then will look for a root solution. I know, it sucks.

If you didn't uninstall the Xposed modules the uninstall Xposed that could be your issue right there. Try uninstalling everything root then try again.

Well, at this point, I have done a factory reset several times. No root, nothing installed.
Knox keeps giving me a notification that it's blocking a process... I can download the update and start the install process. Once the phone reboots and the AT&T splash screen comes up, the progress bar will start and get to about 20%, then the phone will restart, then boot normally. Once booted, it will go to the Update page and then say that the installation was interrupted.
What... the... heck... I thought a factory reset restored the phone to like how it was from the factory? I notice my keyboard is the old version, too. When I bought the phone, I had the updated keyboard with punctuation for long-key presses.
Any insights?

Factory reset just wipes your data and cache. It will not reinstall the system files. When you rooted you directly modified some of your system files via root access. Simple solution however. Follow these steps as mentioned before by theorioles33 using Odin and Heimdall. Takes about 10 mins (maybe 30 if its ur first time) Follow every step to the T and when ur back to stock try the OTA. Good Luck!
Anyone have issues installing the latest firmware update?
Ive tried multiple times, but when it gets to 27% progress on the Gear, the little Android says "Error" and the watch reboots.
Yes. I have same issue. Tried twice.

uggh.. wtf Samsung.
The error message actually says to try updating Via Kies. I installed Kies and plug the watch into the computer and it says the firmware is already up to date. I wonder if the update being pushed is not correct or something.
No Root Access
After installing update it fails root permissions. Going back to MK7. New firmware is nothing special fyi.
OK, well I got it to install using Samsung Kies from the computer
My Gear got a new update this mornig and the install was clean with no problems.
No issue with install XEF-V700XXUBNC1
I suspect this is just to add support for the S5 since it is releasing the day after tomorrow.
immediately after boot splash, it says
Installing..
for a few seconds, then says
Failed
then
0%
then
1%
then it says update failed and reboots.
i had some apps disabled first try, enabled them, but it still failed.
any tips?
If you are rooted, or have changed any CSC settings, OTA updates will failed. If you are completely set on updating to 5.1.1, I would Odin back to stock of whatever version you are running now and OTA to 5.1.1. But be warned that if you are rooted now, you probably will lose root forever.

Interesting. The only other suggestion I have if you're unrooted and all of your apps and services are enabled is to make sure you have at least 3.00 gigs of space available before you try to update. I've seen that be a problem before.

I have over 4GB free... I checked that. Could that still be too little?
I had the same problem. Then I tried updating the previously disabled applications in the play store. After they updated, I attempted the download again, and this time the installation worked as expected.
I'm having this issue as well. I did a factory reset knowing I was rooted. Tried 3 times (very annoying that it re-downloads every time, by the way).
Of course, I can't Odin without a rom to flash and ATT is so anal about giving up their factory roms.
I've also tried Smart Switch to apply the update after the 3 failed attempts. No dice, smart switch doesn't think an update is available.

Hmm.. Yeah, it failed for me 2-3 times in a row... I kept kicking the date out 24 hours to allow me to download it again... I think when I finally got it to work I was on Friday the 2nd of Oct. Other things that I did before that was clear system cache, cleaned up about 2 more gig of space (was at 5 gb free initially, got it to around 7 gb) and then enabled all my disabled apps and updated them. Could have just been dumb luck, or combination of multiple things....

YES I FINALLY GOT IT TO WORK!
it had nothing to do with apps, I tried with 3gb free, fail, 4gb free fail, but i went in and cleared all apps cache which was 7gb (somehow) i tried again and it worked!!!
so if you get this error, make sure you have at least 7 or 8gb free! it should go smoothly

I have 14gb free and it still isnt working for me...tried 4x and it keeps failing. Downloads perfectly fine but when i go to install it does the same thing it's been doing for everyone else. Don't know whats going on this has never happened before - i am on stock.
Update checklist:
1) Enable and update all apps. Clear app cache.
2) Safe mode (hold vol- during boot sequence)
3) Samsung Smart Switch
4) Flash with Odin (either at Best Buy or yourself) to OF4 (5.0.2 then update, or directly to 5.1.1)
If you were rooted, either use Samsung Smart Switch to upgrade, flash with Odin to OF4 or do a factory reset (make sure you don't re-install SuperSU) before upgrading.

Why do we need to enable and update all apps when the update is still failing for users who do not have any apps disabled? I do not want to take the time and space to enable & update all my disabled apps if it is still not going to work. :/
It's worked for some guys in the past. Didn't work for me either. I had to reflash the phone at best buy to OF4 before the update worked properly.

What worked for me
Hey, I had the same issue. I'd download the update, try to install it and it would crash and reboot.
What stopped my update from working was the fact that I had my developer's settings on. I tapped on the build number 7 times to open up developer's settings and disable the NuPlayer (because it made my snapchat stories lag and skip around). In order to get the update to work, I went to Settings>Device>Apps>App Manager>Settings>Clear Data. After clearing the data, the option for developer's settings wasn't available (unless I enable it again of course) and I was able to install the update just fine.
Hope I helped.
