[How To] Calibrate a Battery

I get asked all the time the proper way to calibrate a battery; so, here's a proper guide for you guys to use to do so and save some post space
How to: Calibrate a Battery correctly on the CDMA Hero.
Charge the phone to 100%
Boot the phone into recovery.
Wipe battery stats
Power phone on, and unplug your fully charged phone
Use your phone until the battery dies. Completly. You want to use it until the phone automaticaly powers off due to low battery
Recharge phone
Repeat the Charging/Killing proccess about 2-3 times
Your battery is callibrated!
Hope this helps cut some questions down!!!
Your picture is better than mine lol good write up bro. Helps limit questions that have been answered! Now if only we could have one for theming aosp ...I had hell learning lol

Afraid to let my phone die completely like that. 3x I've had my sdcard need a reformat after the battery died. Only have let the battery die about 5x.

Really?
I recalibrate after every new rom or update to base rom.
Not needed, but I'm weird.
Never hurt my sdcard. Had this phone over a year and a half now.

I've got a transcend 8g class 6 right now and it got messed up just this weekend letting the battery die. It did it the other 2 times on an old card then eventually went tits up not long after that. Needles to say 3 of 5 isn't a good ratio so I'll not be letting the batt die on my phone any time soon.

That's odd... never had that issue with sandisk
I've actually had this problem with 2 8gb class 4 sandisk both died on me, one frozen... not sure if it was related to letting the phone die...

you can always unmount the SD card when the batt gets low, so it would be harder for it to mess up
As many times as I've done this procedure, it's never helped in the least

Bummer.
I ALWAYS get 26-30 hours battery life. I would say medium use.
Maybe an hour talk time, lots of data, sms, mms.

My phone not getting charged!!

Somethings gone wrong, my phone is not getting charged more than 53%, no matter wat charger I use. It is stuck at 53% since half hr..
After that.. the charging stops! And to charge again.. I need to reboot the phone.. cause it wont charge otherwise!
I tried chaging chargers. I tried chaging roms. I tried wiping battery stats
What is the problem???

Dont panic bro. There's got to be a solution. Maybe your battery problem... Try changing it.
P.S: And, btw, you are in the wrong section.

It's due to wipe battery stats .....flash a another rom and charge full then go to cwm wipe battery stats....after flash the rom you want then charge till the end....then go cwm wipe battery stats
Sent from my E15 using Tapatalk 2
hey this problem also harassed me a lot but i found a soulution
1) go to recovery wipe cache battery stats and dalvik cache
if not solved
2)find out is this is a software problem or rom change the rom or flash the rom again and also change the kernel maybe to stock kernel
this step will definetly solve the problem
if not solved then
3)may be is time to change the charging wire
4 final step
i am using my dads charger its working without any problem
what i see my dad charger that its connector pin is not too old and gets fit into my charging socket very tightly hence evrytime it charges my phone
5 good luck a
or buy some cheap charging kit in which you pull out the battery and charge the pphone
I changed the rom once again.. and kernel.
I went to presto of haka.. and now I can charge! thanks so much for helping!
I was panicked before cause I was going to loose my job because of this.

Charging my Phone using Nexus 7

I just thought i would try this as im going on a bus trip at the weekend and my phone doesn't tend to have very good battery life but i just noticed if you have a USB OTG cable and plug your phone into it with it's standard USB cable you can charge your phone via USB with your Nexus 7
Probably a bit of pointless information but i thought i would just point it out incase anyone else was wondering this like i was
Interesting, but then you have to charge your nexus because you just drained its battery. You can also charge your phone using the nexus charger without any damage to your phone.
He said that he is on a bus trip! Kind of difficult to find a plug on a bus...

This is good stuff... your phone is your main communication anyway (calls , texts , 3G/4G) .... you're on a long trip ... you got your Nexii with you but may not use it till you hit some reliable WiFi... why not use it as a booster battery till you get where you're going?? Handy little bit of info to have in a pinch for sure
That would be really cool if you could. The N7 has a 3900 MAH battery, right? If it does, it would be enough to charge a phone 2-3 times.

Buses with lighter sockets?
Hard enough to find a train with power here in the UK.

Anyway, how do you calculate how man times you can charge your phone? 4000/2000=2 lol? Don't need to calculate there're still to many other stuff to think about.
Just trying it to say how many times you can charge.
But this is really useful info. Thank you!

Bionic won't boot.

So OK guys here's your time to shine! I put my bionic on the charger last night and when I wake up the white notification light is on and the phone won't power up. I've tried battery and sim pulls as well as plugging it in without the battery and trying to power it up. I can't even boot to recovery! Any help would be appreciated!

You can try the USB hack on it to get to boot up and pull information off if needed. Take a old USB cable that you don't plain on using any more. Strip down the micro USB connection side to expose the internal wires. Use just the red and black ones expose the wire and tend the leads with a soldering iron. Place the red side on the positive side of the battery and the black on negative side and carefully place the battery back into the phone. Plug the other side into the charger and it should jump start it.

[Q] Without a removable battery how do you force reboot?

My upgrade is due on May 1 and the One is in my plans.
I have never had a phone that didn't occasionally need the battery pulled. How does it work work with current phones?

you just have to hold down the power button and it will reboot
This why I don't understand why people cry over pulling a battery. It's more simpler.

It takes less than 12 seconds to pull off a battery cover and pull the battery out/push it in -_-
You're right though, the "work" involved is just exhausting

True true, but it is less obvious to the uninformed I guess.
Not many people would just think to hold a button for 10+ seconds, some people I talk to don't even have the idea of "long-press" down pat (which I bet is why HTC has largely removed this from all but a few places on the phone)...
.... But you have people as old as my grandfather that know all about yanking batteries out of crap when they ain't working!
