Does anyone know of a good backup program to save my apps and data utilizing CM 6 if I have moved some of my apps to the SD card? It's my understanding that Titanium can't back the SD card saved apps yet.

I saw a reference today to an app called "appsaver" that backups all your installed apps to the SD card as *.apk files. Once you flash a new ROM and reload appsaver, it has a restore option that will reload the apps from the SD card.
I download it this evening and have done a backup and it created all of the *.apk files on the SD card. I haven't tried restoring them yet.
Regards,
Tom
Does it backup the data too?

In looking at the description it doesn't mention the apps data and some of the user comments mentioned that it doesn't either.

A nandroid back up from clockwork recovery can create an image of your phones current state. Also you could try using the backup option in the CM6 settings which will "back up" your apps and restore them if you factory reset, I dont think that does data.

Greetings,
I'm about to HardSPL my Xperia and flash a custom rom afterwards. I've got a lot of apps installed on my memory card, and a lot of them on the phone itself aswell. After HardSPL...etc, will everything dissapear, or only the apps on the phone itself? Also, is there any way of backing them up so I don't have to manually reinstall all of them when I get the new rom installed?
(ie, would cuting and pasting the Program Files folder to the storage card work)
Cheers,
SebK

nope...all stays after hardSPL but not after flashing......
need more info: then search
Really? When I open X1_HardSPL_v1 it says: installing this update will delete all the information on your pda phone...
It will delete the information ON THE PHONE... not on the SD card.
That means SMS, emails, any images or anything that you haven't saved to the SD card.
The SD card doesn't get wiped as part of a ROM update.

I see. But is there an easy way to backup contacts/sms/softwares on the phone so I can restore them later once I installed the rom?
Found PIM Backup 2.8 to backup my contacts, mesages...etc.
Now is there a way I can backup my installed softwares so I don't have to manualy re-install them once the rom is installed?
Yes, but don't
It's necessary a external SD card to backup my ROM using this tool?
Internal SD too, if you have enough free space.
Regards
I just used the option "Backup Current ROM" to create a backup. The phone rebooted itself and created the backup (a couple o files in a folder in internal SD).
So my question now is: what kind of backup this tool did? It didn't backup the internal SD? There aren't there some files and folders related with the applications i have installed? They are not necessary?
I have a lot of music and movies in the internal SD, and other stuff.
So, what happens if i just restore the backup i did? I will lost them?
I'm really not understanding this backup tool very well...
Will my sms's, phone contacts, apn's, etc be saved with this tool?
Thanks in advance for all your help!
Any help guys?
I am going to try to update to 2.2 but I just want to backup my entire phone
before I do it cause I might lose everything...
so my question is how to back everything up?
Is there a software for it?
umm If you back up a 2.1 phone state you cant restore it once your in 2.2 What exactly do you wanna back up or save?
does that mean if i want to update to 2.2 i need to erase everything??
all i want to backup are my apps
ROM manager is your answer if you want to back up a ROM and potentially restore it. You can also backup all your apps with titanium backup and then flash back to stock (which I assume your on) and then reload your apps with titanium backup. Do some reading around here about those two items, that will get you what you need.

If i want to flash a new rom, i back up all my app using tibu. but if i use odin to flash back to stock, then hit master clear all my app is lost. most of the new custom roms ask you to master clear, so how can you back up you app if you have to master clear....

What I did was
1) backup my apps using Tibu.
2) Copy the tibu data folder onto my external SD card or computer.
3) Master Clear and flashed away.
4) Copied the Tibu data folder back to the internal SD card (I think its the root directory of the internal SD card....cant remember).
5) Opened up Tibu and restore the apps.

You have three choices. The first is to just copy the backup folder on sdcard to ext_sdcard. Then it does not get wiped out in a reset. The second is to use the CWM card you had used to root to do a nandroid backup to SD. That way if reset, just restore and everything is back. The third way is to use my swap zip to swap sdcard and ext_sdcard. Then TB backs up to your external card. I prefer the nandroid backup myself.

i recently just set my backups to back up to my sd card
first thing is make a folder on the sdcard, something like TitaniumBackup
in the TB app, press Menu in the top rightthen > preferences, then down to the backup settings > Backup folder location > hit back once or twice until you are on /mnt > find ext_sdcard > then click the folder folder you made on the sd card and then hit use current folder.
I do the nandroid backup probably once every 4-5 days just to be safe in case i eff something up lol
Yea I am using a 16gb card. At first I used the wrong zip and my open space wasn't enough. Found the 4gb zip and all is well with the nandroid backup. This is the second time in 3 days I had a tablet reset. One thing I like about apple products is less crashing and such but loving this tablet for $179.

Less crashing because they don't allow you into the area where you can mess things up in the system (unless you jailbreak) Also, much less complexity with tens rather than hundreds of device configurations. I'll take more complexity, a little less stability but the ability to do what I want :cyclops:
I am coming from Samsung. Had Galaxys since day one. Obviously, they have external sd slots and this does not. My question is, is there a program like titanium backup or Helium to backup straight to computer?
When we flash new ROMs, all of that info is erased in full wipe, correct? Is there a way to save only the TB or Helium data? I used the external sd to store that data until full wipe and flashing of new ROM was complete.
Thanks for any input.
You don't need a external SD slot. Similar to your galaxy, there is internal storage on your phone.
No, wiping does not wipe your internal storage unless you tell it to. By default it does not wipe the internal storage.
All files and whatnot will not be removed or moved.

Not to my knowledge but I know you can use Titanium Backup and sync your backups to the cloud (Google Drive, Dropbox) or manually sync your backups with your desktop.
