[Q] Use normal headphones during a call?? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I really would like to use my "normal" headphones for making calls together with the internal mic. Everytime when I am listen to music and someone is calling me, I've to unplug the headphones...:-( Another example is: I've connected my samsung to my car via "aux-in" to listen to music over my loadspeaker in my car.
That would something like a hands-free system
So... I think/hope this is just a software problem and somebody here is able to manage this??
Thanks in advance!
kedek

I cant see anything about android development... We have a section for questions and answers! Please use the right sections!

if you want...
but I think we need developers to get this working...!?

there's already a thread about this. with an alternative hardware fix.

The guidelines for the proper location to post new threads is clearly outlined in the "STOP!! Before You Post, Read This NOW!!" thread at the top of the forum section:
Post What Where:
General - general technical discussion items, news, anything else that does not fit into the other fora categories.
Q&A (Questions and Answers) - all questions, irrespective of type, get posted in here whether they be theme related, accessory related, technical, etc.
Accessories - any items to do with components and/or accessories relating to your device.
Rom Development - only meant for very advanced technical discussion directly related to ROM development activity and the delivery of actual ROMs and ROM components ONLY. Nothing else goes in here.
Themes & Apps - anything to do directly with the development of themes and/or applications. Nothing else goes in here.

a fix that surely won't fix the problem with car Aux in, as the gain of the earphone mic is poor.
I think that doing a sw fix for the problem(listening through earphones, talking to the regular mic) will be appreciated by lots of people.

Sorry for posting in a wrong section...

But anyway... this hardware fix will not fix the problem in my car.
And I think a lot of other users wants to get this working? And thats the point why we need developers...
I think theoretically this should be possible..

Which hardware fix are you talking about ? Using an adapter like Nokia AD-54 works with any 3.5mm headphone or audio out (including auxiliary line of a card audio system).
Other option is to use an A2DP BT car kit or a BT clip (like this).

Ok thanks... if this is the only solution, I will try it
But I also would like to have a software solution ...someday

BT volume tweak?

I am using a BT Motorola Pure H12 and it seems like the volume just not loud at all with my tilt! anyone else have this problems, and is there any hope?
There are quite a few of these 'My world is coming to an End!' threads.
Please check the search tab for BT, I am sure you will find something..
Hope this helps.. (my mantra is working really well....)
Also if you have not noticed there is a 'Tilt' thread (called a sticky cause it sticks at the top of the forum list!) that is to deal with 'Tilt' questions.

A2DP - Nexus One -> Jawbone ?

Hello Everyone,
I've been searching the web trying to find a solution for my problem with no luck.
I would like to be able to get applications (specifically voip such as sipdroid) to work with my Jawbone (bluetooth headset). Unfortunately I am only capable to get phone calls to stream through my BT headset. I've noticed that during a phone call applications will stream audio to my bt headset - but then obviously I have the phone call playing over it + I'm paying for a phone call..
So, is there any app/fix that will transmits audio through the voice channel? or simulate a phone call/open bt channel for phone calls?
I couldn't find a running thread with this topic, if there's one open I apologize and please refer me to it.
Thanks in advance!
Any one ??
:/
If you're talking about the jawbone icon, it does not support A2DP (yet). I don't think that any of the other Jawbones do either. Stay tuned. According to Jawbone's website, A2DP is coning soon in a firmware upgrade to the headsets.

Edit: Are you talking about jawbone "icon"?..
I have a jawbone prime, don't see any possible firmware update.
Now... both prime and icon are updatable with the MyTalk stuff that's offered from Jawbone's site. I've already updated my ICON with a few tweaks.
As for the forum post... look at the user "JawboneEmma". I've also seen some other posts around their forums hinting they'll be offering A2DP on their products with a FW upgrade.
Figured it out to post links.

you're right. Didn't notice that about the Prime. Since MyTalk is in beta, I'm sure they'll extend the app to the Prime at some point.

Making nokia headset controls work with SGS - possible?

I have a nokia remote (AD-54) and was wondering if it could be possible to make it work with SGS with some software mod, or is it physically impossible? It's a nice remote with 3.5 socket, allowing me to plug in my own headphones, and would be great for controlling music playback (cause with just the touch screen it's a pain really). The mic on this remote works fine with SGS as far as I've read, but the controls don't.
www.rolmobile.es/tienda/images/hs45-ad54_312X312.jpg
And, if it's not possible, do you know of any wired remote with 3.5 socket and music controls that works with SGS?
Cheers.
Ditto - I would love a remote for my headphones to control the music player as well.
Nokia might work...
I went ahead and bought one of these.... it does not work out of the box, sound is not output correctly.
What does work is switching the phone into TV out mode. In TV out mode the sound is right. However I can't get the buttons to work at all.
When the phone is not in TV out mode then the headphone socket output is different and non-Nokia compatible. I don't know if that means iPhone accessories work or not.
Its a hardware limitation. I very much doubt the SGS is designed to receive input, apart from microphone streams, through the headphone socket.
Nokia handsets know there is another bit or byte or what ever it is coming through which in turn activates a function. SGS doesn't. The way the Nokia headset is designed, it really only works with Nokias, even to give or accept sound as an output/input.

That's bollocks too. It outputs sound just fine. The question which you've not answered is if the SGS can "see" the signal generated when a button is pressed on the Nokia remote. You don't know the answer so why are you trying to answer the question with "It's a hardware limitation.". All you have done in your post is guess the answer as no. I'd guess it was a no too, but I don't know either, which is why I'm asking.
On forums it just clutters things up and adds useless content to a thread if people who don't know the answer try to answer it by making it up. I appreciate you're trying to help, but unless you know the answer to the question then you're not helping at all.
You can use alternative music players like Tunewiki or Cube. They can play the next song by pressing the headset button twice
Device like this one uses the Mic connection for remote
http://pinoutsguide.com/HeadsetsHeadphones/blackberry_9700_headset_pinout.shtml
it *looks like the two are inverted for the SGS (and you have a function for "PushButton")
http://pinoutsguide.com/HeadsetsHeadphones/samsung_galaxy_headset_pinout.shtml
Altough this one states that it is the same
http://pinouts.ru/HeadsetsHeadphones/nokia_handsfree_pinout.shtml
and we know that nokia's TV-Out are working.
For the buttons to work, the OS has to understand the same command as on the nokia, is it responding to anything when you push the buttons?
Remember that enabling TV out mode changes the pinout of the phone.
In "normal" mode with a Nokia control adapter in sound is not correct.
In TV out mode with a Nokia control adapter sound is correct.
In neither case do the Nokia buttons do anything - Play/pause, stop, fwd, rwd, vol+, vol-.
I'm sure the phone is only Nokia compatible when TV out is enabled. In this mode we don't know if..
1) The hardware of the phone can receive a signal from the buttons.
2) The firmware of the phone allows this to be passed to the software.
3) Software can use this input for media players.
Outside of Nokia mode, I don't know the answer to the pinouts.
Of the three pinout links you posted... http://pinoutsguide.com/HeadsetsHeadphones/samsung_galaxy_headset_pinout.shtml seems to be verified. There are three posts saying it's incorrect, but they simply say that the left and right channels are reversed. It's implied from that then that the other aspects are correct.
I think since we're no further forward it wouldn't be a total waste for me to go ahead and get one of the iPhone control adapters off eBay and see what the result is?

I try to help and you insult me? You are clearly a dunce. Ill stay out of your thread.
I was making a guess based on what is known. The hardware inside the SGS is different to the nokia. That link posted above proved the pinout is different thus proving what I said to be correct, its a hardware limitation. What the Nokia headset sends out as a signal is not going to be received by the SGS.
Kindly get bent and refrain from posting your useless crap. Unless you work for Samsung or Nokia as a hardware engineer or they release the information, or you've spent time following the circuit of the phones, you will too be making a guess.
In non tv mode the sound works fine for me. Are u sure you have a real Nokia ad54. A couple of the fakes I got off eBay don't work correctly. If u have a real one the sound works fine for music/books and when u get a call the sound will also work.

I cannot be sure if I have a real one or a fake. Music sounds ok when it's not in TV out mode, but some parts are missing on some tracks. I'm guessing I'm hearing left or right channel only on both sides - but I'd need to find a file to test that with to be sure.
The one I got looks exactly like the one at the top of this thread. It came without the headphones. It even had the cable tie wrapped in the same way.
Argh! I've just done a left/right channel test... and in normal and in TV out mode the left and right channels are separate and correct. It turns out the AD-54 I have has a slightly dodgy connection.
The test I used is here - http://www.wooferbasstest.com/left-and-right-channel-verification-audio-systems/sound-effects.html if that's any use to anyone.
So after taking a complete wrong turning... apologies... back to what t1mman was saying...
There is no response at all from the Nokia buttons. I've even made sure I'm wiggling the wires about while I do it with both the device switched to the in position and the off position. As I'm still not convinced though I wouldn't mind lgkahn's input on it - Do the buttons work in any way for you on the AD-54?
We know at this stage then that the Samsung and the Nokia both use the same channel (ring2) (my rusty electrical knowledge tells me that it is not possible to use ground?). However the SGS is either incapable of seeing the Nokia signals, or is not looking for them so ignores them... I think that's the summary of where things are.
Going forward from here I think there's no point in trying a iPod pushbutton thing - so unless someone has a different opinion I won't bother getting one off eBay.
It would be interesting for someone who knows more about the phone itself to let us know if it's even conceivable to try to see if the phone is seeing a signal, because if it is seeing a signal then perhaps it could be taught to respond to it? I'm way out of my depth there.
Other than that though, it seems to me that the Nokia device serves no purpose, and the only way to pause/play music is to use an app that pauses/plays when the headphones are disconnected.
hi, i guess that this approach is dead isnt?
I want to know the same..

It was a known issue,a bug derived from CM10,I think. Just try something else if you have problems,IMO. But much respect to harsh and tonyp
If it works when you adjust the headphone plug, try cleaning the port with a needle or something similar. I had similar problems and cleaning the port/hole fixed it.

If it was ROM related, it should be working or not. So I'm pretty sure that it's either the headphone plug or the headset wire.

MTCB/MTCC Rom issues with ALPconnect app and Bluetooth

Hi Guys
Would really appreciate some help with this one, i am sure it been covered to some degree in other threads.
Since owning my unit I have wanted one application to run and I am not fussed about anything else, the app is ALPconnect.
ALPconnect is a application that connects to my radar detector via BT 4.0 only so it displays all the information on the dash for radar frequencies.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alpriority.alpconnect&hl=en
Due to the limitations in the Bluetooth, no current rom has been able to allow the application to turn the BT on and search for the ALPconnnect Module
http://www.alpriority.com/product/alpconnect-bluetooth-module-gen2/
Over on the other forum i am apart of http://radarandlaserforum.com, one member has spent upwards of 2000$ buying android head-units to see if this app would run and connect on it.
our small thread is ongoing at @ http://radarandlaserforum.com/showt...-InCar-Enetertainment-unit-ALPconnect-Testing about this issue.
I don't normally ask for help, but I could really use some help and I am sure others on the forum that purchased it for that reason would greatly appreciate it too.
This is the last information I received from agentdr8, thank you aswell
agentdr8 said:
It's severely limited, when compared to any other Android device with BT. This is due to the OEM's choice of the BC5/BC6 module, and their poor BT implementation. Instead of routing BT audio traffic through the Android system, like a normal device would, they route it through the MCU. That would be fine on its own, except they route pretty much all BT interactions through the MCU, via serial AT commands, which is very non-standard. Simple things like pairing, or using SPP profile just don't work, or require a bit of finagling.
On top of that, there's code (at least in MTCB; dunno about newer MTCD) in MTCManager that filters which devices can pair via BT for OBD use. It checks the device name and if it starts with OBD, it will allow it to pass to the next step during pairing. I can only imagine they chose to do that so they could sell their companion BT OBD adapters with the headunits?
My XMTC module had accounted for this limitation in name-based filtering (apparently not the only limitation though; if your adapter was at least v1.4 it should work), but it hasn't been updated to work on any 2016 roms. Since I no longer have time to maintain that project, it's been open sourced on my github. The BT pieces could be extracted into their own module, but I thought I had read someone else (maybe MVG70?) had made a BT xposed module for these devices to try and address compatibility issues.

I think it's been discussed before, and no one has successfully added an external BT adapter to these headunits.
Has that group tried the app on the Parrot Asteroid? I know it wasn't the highest rated Android headunit, but it might be more "standard" than how these ones are configured.

Thanks agentdr8, but it does not really help the ones that splashed out and bought the HuFei units
Is the reasoning behind the external BT not working because nobody is interested in making it work or is it not technically possible?

Since the kernel is not open source, there's very little hope of adding the necessary drivers to support external BT adapters. Aside from that, I don't believe the BT stack that is included in these roms is standard.
I won't say it's impossible, as given enough time and money, anything is possible. But I doubt it's something anyone here can address without the sources.
Guess the manufacturer is reluctant to release the source then.

Just a couple of questions
1.Do you know if any developer is currently working injecting the drivers into the kernel, as impossible as it sounds.
2.If the manufactures were to fix this issue, what things should they include to make external BT work?
3.Have any of the manufactures hinted at releasing the source and letting other developers fix the issue with custom roms
Just on another note
I have 30 emails from Eonon saying that their tech cannot do this and have assured me that.
We have our own brand and R&D department.
We use our software.

I'm quite interested in getting this fixed as well - I have both an ODB2 adapter and Navdy that I'm unable to connect due to this limitation. And the fact that there's no available workaround via External BT is infuriating.

From my understanding, the only way to get this to work is through an external (USB) BT adapter, since the built-in BT stack sends everything through the MCU instead of directly to android. So enabling the proper USB drivers for BT in the Kernel would fix it. I'm not aware of any other USB devices that don't work (maybe gamepads or other HID devices, unconfirmed) so it seems they've cherry picked which USB devices to allow. Considering the otherwise hackable nature of these devices, it'd make sense to me to just enable all available USB devices and let us plug in whatever we want to plug in.
I'm in the same boat. I have an OBD adapter (Hondash) which refuses to pair. I've tried 2 Xposed modules which are supposed to sort this. I'm wondering if my particular issue is down to my 5.1.1 ROM so might try it on my old RK3066 4.4.4 HU which I gave to my Dad.
So I'm monitoring this thread in the hope a fix is found.
I am doubtful, I have contacted Klyde/Eonon/others and nobody is willing to release the kernel source code or address the issue.
So when someone gets a copy from Klyde/some reseller/MTC or whoever and a developer has the motivation to correct it, that can be the only solution.
I have given up hope on this one
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Does anyone know the location in the Android file system where the Bluetooth pairings are saved?
FINALLY! Someone with a similar issue. I've got a Valentine One, and the BT module for android, (connecting using YaV1) and I've been trying to get my android unit to pair with it as well. In for potential solutions.
This question may be off topic, and I apologize for that, but are you referring to the app not being able to turn on BT and look for the adapter; just getting stuck at "Turning on bluetooth..."?
I have an OBDII scanner which I can pair no problem. When I use a specific app (OBD Card Doctor Pro (or reg)) and attempt to connect it, I get a prompt letting me know that an app wants to turn on BT. I click allow and then it just sits there and never does anything. Is that the problem ALPconnect has?
Torque does not prompt me with this and initiates the BT connection just fine.
The main issue here is that the bluetooth hardware is in effect emulated to the android subsystem for the nice bluetooth dialler front end so android has no real control over the bluetooth hardwrae. These headunits have some real downfalls and this is one of them What we need is to break this open and rewrite it. Without sources we can't do that. We could maybe dissasemble bits and replace them in code but the rom is factory odd and hacked to bits!

So this emulated effect is what causes my system get stuck "Turnning on bluetooth..." if I understand you correctly? There's no Android control over the BT hardware so the request is just lot in limbo?
