Rooted my phone. Have Superuser. Tried to run GlaxaySBootLWP.apk for wallpaper but keep getting the following error:
Install Blocked. For security, your phone is set to block installation of applications not sourced in Android Market.
Any thoughts on how to get this to install? Thanks.

You should check out the "Captivate Bible (directory)" reference thread. It's the very first thread at the Captivate Android Development forum. I would link you there... but I can't.

You can't do it - at least that was mentioned before - and why you don't see a settings.db file listed. There are some machine specific entries that are not supposed to be copied from machine to machine.

wth is an odin3 unroot, do u mean 1 click restore?
and more importantly you need to get those drivers working or else your computer can't see the phone, which means you cant run odin in the first place. i don't understand want the problem is, you run the .exe file and restart your computer if you have to, just make sure u match 32/64bit of your OS

If you can not get the drivers on the odin thread to work put samsung captivate into google search. Go to official web site. Bottom of page, download manual, click, click software. There is a download for drivers. Try them

This is not a development question, can we please move this to Q&A or General?
Also, in case it wasn't already clear:
YOU CAN NOT UPDATE 1.52 TO 1.57. PERIOD.
Someone might at some point pull out the parts of the update and roll it into something you can flash over anything, but I highly doubt it as it's a pain in the ass and doesn't offer much benefit. Just backup your system with TiBu and flash back to 1.2.6, follow the proper procedure, and restore your backup (NOT system apps though). Not really all that hard.
Anybody know how to get the old stock Android browser on here? Chrome really blows. I can't seem to find any method that's universal, and those steps that are out there seem to require root. Help!

Well I guess all you would need is the apk and side load it. I use dolphin chrome was great at first but little things bother me like the double tap zoom in sucks. And the last update made it run like ****. I like my bookmarks being synced but then again it really isn't that big of a deal.
Can someone get the apk up? Not having extended controls is horrible. Is there another browser that has edge swiping to control browser?

I still can't seem to get the stock browser to install. Tried placing the file in system/app and data/app... Installed once and I saw the browser at one point then every subsequent launch of the app was met with a "unfortunately..." Crash message. Ugh. I've been dying to get a competent browser on this phone. Guess I'll need to keep waiting.

Make sure you set the permissions correctly. Once installed, clear data/cache on it before you run it.

What do you mean "set the permissions correctly"? I'm not modifying the permissions with anything, and it sets its own permissions upon installation.
I installed again and cleared data, brought up the signing into google screen then it crashes. Can't seem to get it to stay opened.
Works beautifully!

Could I get a little instruction here?
I've downloaded the above Browser.apk. I've tried installing it from the downloads folder. Fails. Tried pasting it into /data/app, can't install. Pasting into /system/app, can't install. Tried root app installer. It installs and initially loads with the "signing into gmail" popup. Then crashes and crashes every subsequent launch immediately.
I'm dying to get this browser on the phone. Pleeeeeaaaase, can I have some installation instructions?

Yep, confirmed via root checker. And I did wait for a minute after boot for it to register root as jcase said that it doesn't Register su for a few seconds or something, in case you were going to ask about that.

It asked the same for me, I just said yes, although for some reason binaries seem to fail at updating. But when using an app that requires root, Super SU still asks to allow root to tha app. I also used Titanium Backup Pro to freeze three apps relating to Knox. You can also do that as well, just to be safe.

Did you gave root access to xposed? Do you even rooted your device?
Grab a logcat, it'll show the actual reason why it's failing.
You can also install it through ADB (or `pm` from a terminal emulator), that'll directly give you the exact error.

I've normally only seen that error when the file is already in the system somewhere. I don't know the file structure of an LG phone and I'm sure it's completely different than a Samsung. Check also in data/app
