[Q] strange 3g apn problem

Hi ive recently flashed JPH from DTJG4 and now im on XWJM8 with tayutamas rom. The problem i keep having is the 3g seems to drop out regardless of the signal. The apn that came with the optus csc is yesinternet ive found that when the data connection "drops out" if i change the apn to internet it works again for a bit and then when that drops out i can change back

Rogers (Canada) 3G Settings?

I'm having troubles connecting to 3G with my IS. Up until a few days ago I had an HTC Desire Z that was unlocked, and rooted. It worked great on rogers 3G.
I'm lost as what to try. I've accessed the *#*#4636#*#* menu, and tried GSM auto (PRL), and I end up getting 3G but then it drops. The only way I seem to be able to keep the data connection is to set it to GSM only which gives me 2G/edge
anyone know what else I can try?

Have you added an APN for Rogers?

It's under Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
I'm using a Bell Incredible S on Telus after entering the relevant Telus APN settings, and get the HSPA/3G icon.

well I got it working. When I checked the APN, the MMS proxy ip was missing. I did have it all in there correct before though. I guess from the *#*#4636#*#* menu switching settings in there trying to get it up deleted the proxy ip?

Doesn't want to connect to 3g

Hi,
I'm having trouble with 3g network. On my old phone(nokia x6) I always had 3g network. Now I can only connect to hdspa and edge. The phone sometimes tries to connect to 3g and it shows the 3g icon for a split second. I'm using gueste 3.0 rom with ironkrnl. What should I do to get 3g working?

Did you see if Baseband and ril are fitting?

I have 218 ril and 218 baseband, so that shouldn't be a problem.

I'm interested in know how change to 2G too, because in the stock 2.3.4 only have 2 options: only 3G and 2G/3G

Hi gregor, have you setup the APN (Access Point Name) settings for your telco network?
Go to Settings>Wireless & networks>Mobile networks>Access Point Names>Menu>New APN
Then enter these settings;
Si.mobil – Vodafone (Slovenia)
GPRS/EDGE/UMTS settings
APN address: internet.simobil.si
Username: simobil
Password: internet
MMS settings
MMSC: mmc
Proxy: 80.95.224.46:9201

[Q] No 3g network (MTNL sim)

I just got a Note for my Dad and noticed that it does not get 3g network while in roaming. Even if I manually set network to WCDMA it shows only emergency calls.
The same card if I put in my Nokia X6 it shows 3.5g with full network and the internet speed also is blazing fast.
PS: When I search for network with WCDMA selected it doesn't show my provider. Also I inserted the same sim on my Galaxy S2 and have the same issue no 3g network. My dad is so disappointed with the Note and said Nokia is the best

Replace SIM, I can't explain you logic, it just based on someone's expirence i have read smwhr.

Go to mobile network settings n check data roaming option both for note n sgs2

Well I have figured out what the problem is. NO matter what sim I use when i set the phone to WCDMA and search for network it does not show bsnl network buts shows all network(Vodafone, IDEA etc). There is strong 3g bsnl network in my area and it shows on other phone. IS samsung unable to catch bsnl 3g network? THe saem problem is with my S2.

[Q] No Data after unlocking

Hi all,
Recently acquired one of these phones that was originally network locked to WIND Mobile in Canada.
Successfully got it unlocked and connected to the FIDO network, however data has not been working. Copied the APN settings over from the previous FIDO phone (the same as the APN settings listed on FIDO website for unlocked phones) and I am getting no data connection.
Any suggestions?

Update: I tried the LTE APN and now I am getting 2G network connection only. But it is slow as ballllls
Anyone else notice that this phone has a really long lag time for connecting to any networks? When I turn it on it says emergency calls only for up to 5 minutes each time until it connects to the network.

I am using a Fido locked optimus 2X and have no connection problems like you describe. My device connects to the network within seconds of booting up. As for the data problems, all I can suggest is to try to return to the sim's stock APN, by pressing the menu button and 'restore default apn' in the apn portion of the settings. If not, it may be a problem with the rom, and you could try flashing another rom.
