Hey Guys,
I want to apply the BatteryMod in XXJPK, but when I want to overwrite the existing "framework-res.apk" and it says "Not enough free space". But I deleted some ringtones and the "free" space doesn't change!
Any Fixes?
My system:
I9000XXJPK
Root
OCLF v2.1
Hope for help ;-)

The instructions were written using adb (shell), obviously for a good reason. Some of these system files are in use permanently, or almost so.
In this case, replacing framework-res.apk, even using adb (manually) you'll notice quite a few errors from background tasks. Hence the vibrations...
The strangeness here isn't that you couldn't write the file but that you were able to delete the original. I'm pretty sure that this is a linux (superuser) trait/ prerogative.
The problem persists! Its says no space left ob device! Any help?

Did you resolve it? i have the same problem..
Hey!
I have the same Problem when I try to .
And when I delete the framework-res.apk with root explorer I have excactly the same amount of free space as before, so that I'm not able to paste the new file, because there is not enough space in system/framework.
I'm running JP6 with root and z4mod.
Thanks alot.
I will try wipe cache and data..maybe it's something after nww rom install..

I reflashed firmware (JM8 then JPM/JP6) and kernel (JP6, z4modded JP6) and wiped data and cache several times... still the same problem...
I found this problem also but now I found the solution. Just try the busybox 1.15.3.
Need to use root explorer to delete some crap first like email.all re built in email.. and widgets etc

Well just happens with some rooms. But i dont know how to find tab crap on my /system
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Make sure you have installed latest Superuser.apk.
Get latest Root Explorer and make sure that /system ist mounted read-write not read-only (read-only is standard on newer froyo-firmwares).
I can delete files in system. I replaced android.policy.odex for the stock lock lockscreen and it worked.. now I'm deleting some apps from /system/app to get more free space.. but not everytime I delete a file the free space in /system is increased.
Please somebody enlighten us. I find this situation bit odd.
Must be some kind of error/bug.
Please help here - I get this error as well and it is nowhere to be solved!
I'm on x10 mini with root access and R/W activated in Super Manager..

I tried to reinstall adfree, but that doesn't help.
Any ideas?
You guys could always manually download the hosts file; either by looking it up here on XDA or you might be able to get it using the adfree app (dunno about this because i personally don't use the app)
Regardless of how you get the hosts file, once you have it just replace your older one using estrongs, adb, terminal, root explorer, w/e you want.

After much google searching, and searching here on XDA, I'm at a loss. I have the Allshare.apk and .odex, however I have had no luck installing them. I've tried various suggesions, including pushing them from adb shell, and nothing seems to work.
I would love to continue using custom roms, but not having Allshare is a big reason for me to just use rooted stock. The rom I'm trying to install it on is Cognition Beta (Froyo).
Titanium Backup also doesn't work for this. It tells me that it backed up Allshare, but when I try to install it, the restore button doesn't even show up.
Also, a quick question for Rom Manager. With the rom backup feature, can you only restore a backup for the rom you are using? (i.e if you want to restore a backup for another rom, you have to flash the rom first, then restore?)
Although posted in the wrong forum... I'd also like an answer to this. Running CDE and would really like to have AllShare to stream movies off my media server.

Not sure why this would be the wrong forum. I'm using a Captivate, and trying to install Allshare on a Captivate rom.
use root explorer and add them to System/app and paste both files there.
reboot your device, and voila

Still at square one. Altho the .apk and .odex are now in system/apps, it didn't affect anything. Also, looked up root explorer, and how to use it, then downloaded it. It won't remount my main file system as read only...so it's permanently in r/w now.
Also tried flashing to killer23d's rom, to use titanium backup on the allshare he has in his rom, still wouldn't work.
So....clueless at this point.

At one point, I had this same problem, and the only solution there is, is to reflash the rom. It's a PITA, I know. And don't worry about what your filesystem is mounted as in Root Explorer. After every reboot it reverts to read only again.

Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be my case. Even after reflashing Cognition, my file system is still R/W. Didn't even have to hit the white button on root explorer to paste files into system/app.
Also, adding dlna.apk and dlna.odex into system/app still isn't giving me Allshare.
Edit: Well, I've found a better solution. I'm gonna go with Killer23d's rom...looks alot more like stock Froyo, is based on the I9000, has Allshare, AND Mobile AP. Both features that I wanted.
Thanks for trying guys. If anyone does come up with a solution tho, please feel free to use this thread, as searching for allshare.apk on google results in this thread being either the 2nd or 3rd search result (can't remember).
Works for me.
I just put AllShare back in, using the attached file, and it's working fine.
I'm running Cognition 2.2 Beta 9.1.3 and put the file into "system\app" using Root Explorer.
I also changed the permissions of the file and selected just the following:
USER = READ + WRITE
GROUP = READ
OTHERS = READ
Remove any other checked permissions.
In case you don't know how to get into the permissions, just long-press the file, from within Root Explorer, and choose "Permissions" from the list that pops up.
Don't forget to reboot right after.
Your issue is most likely because you are trying to reintegrate an odex'ed AllShare while you are using a de-odex'ed ROM. Ozone777's file looks to be about the correct size for a de-odex'ed AllShare. Just move it into the /system/app folder with root explorer as mentioned above and you should be good to go.
I used terminal to drop the APK attached in the previous post into /system/app and it works beautifully. CogYo 2.2.9

What kernel did you flash? Go to settings to check if both your SD cards card mounted. If not it may be due to the kernel you flashed.. which screwed up the mounting of sdcards. If that's the case, you gotta do a full flash with repartition. Richardtrip's version 11 caused my sdcards to become unmountable 2 weeks ago. Hope this helps.
Most probably your internal SD card is wiped . Such things can happen . If so you need reflash a new rom with repartition, PIT, PDA
Ok so both cards read a storage size...
Like I stated in the Op, I can view all the files in astro, just not EStrongs. Is there another app that will allow me root access and be able to mount the.drive as rw to make changes??

Easy killer.. I posted here because everything worked fine with EStrongs while on Roto's v2. Switch to Richardtrips kernel and the Overcome rom and now I have no root access through EStrongs. I would venture to say that that is a development issue with either the kernel or ROM.....
Open your superuser app and delete or remove the estrongs entry where it allows that program for SU access and try it again.
And Not trying to be mean, however if it is something with that rom or kernel post in that thread or email the developers of estrongs
If u think that is the fault of the ROM.., Maybe You should post inside that topic. If everyone open a new post for asking Question , what will be here like?
Respect to the Developer, they spend their time without income and shared their success.
Overcome have no such issue at all as my experience.

Can anyone suggest why I can't get Lite-ROM script to run when I try to execute it with System Tuner Pro?
I'm just want to get rid of some of the bloatware such as YouTube, Crayon Physics, Google+ and others. Just renaming the "apk" extension to "bak" in the system/app folder doesn't work.
The script returns this when run with System Tuner Pro
Starting ..
mount: Operation not permitted
mount: Operation not permitted
/sdcard/fish-literom.TXT[9]:syntax error: 'else'
unexpected
The phone is GT-N7000 is rooted and running ICS 4.0.4.
Kernel version = 3.0.15-N7000DXLR5-CL968032
Baseband version = N7000DXLR1
I asked the System Tuner Pro developer but they just said "Your script doesn't work". They suggested just using the System>System Apps>Uninstall function but this didn't work either.
I'd be grateful if anyone can suggest an effective removal method.
Trevor
Mount the Partition for write access first and then run the script..

Thanks but I think already tried that with Root Explorer, Select All, Mount RW. Is that what you mean? Same result though.
What I've learned since that posting is that System Tuner Pro can delete bloatware apps without the need for a script so not sure why the Lite-ROM method was being suggested. I have the paid version of System Tuner Pro so maybe the free version can't do that.
What the developer taught me was that STP deletes any app updates first and needs to be run a second time to delete the original app. Not sure why but it worked great for YouTune, Google+ and Schoice.
I'm still trying to get rid of Crayon Physics and Kies Air neither of which appear in the system/app folder.
Thanks again

Hi everyone
I'm trying to get the infamous GPS Location Spoofer installed as a system app on my rooted HTC phone, but so far no luck, so I figured I would try to ask for help here, in case anyone went through a similar situation, or knows what I've been doing wrong. This is what I tried so far:
Installed the app from Google App store, and using File Explorer with root , tried to move the app folder to /system/app or /system/priv-app, , but pasting the folder there would result in an instant reboot and the app would not be there.
So I installed lucky patcher , and using apk downloader, downloaded the apk file from the App Store, copied it over to the phone, and used the "Rebuild and Install" option, choosing the option to install it as a system app , and it would process it and say that the installation was sucessfull, needs to reboot to complete, but after the reboot the app would not be there (not only not showing on the apps list, but navigating to the /system folder with File Explorer and checking app and priv-app I could verify that it was not installed).
SO I tried to use adb shell to do the work , and this is what I did:
mount -o remount /dev/block/mmcblk0p35 /system
to mount the /system filesystem as read write , and it did
cp /sdcard/Download/com.incorporateapps.fakegps.fre-55.apk /system/app
to copy the file under /system/app
chmod 644 com.incorporateapps.fakegps.fre-55.apk
to set the permissions as required
and reboot the phone, but after the reboot, the file would not be there. I tried also to create a folder under /system/app named com.incorporateapps.fakegps.fre-55, move the apk inside; installing normally , changing the mount point to read-write and moving it from /data/app to /system/app or /system/priv-app using the shell and chaning ownership / permissions , but the app will not stick , either rebooting or just re-mounting the filesystem as read-only again will cause everything that was done to be lost; and after trying any of the above one time, doing it for a second time would cause the phone to reboot.
I figure that there must be an image of the /system mount point somewhere , which gets installed every time there is a remount to read-only or reboot , or something of that nature, that will cause any changes made under /system to be lost. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems to be related to HTC phones, since there's load of people doing it on other models without issues, or maybe I'm doing something wrong, since I'm no android expert
Does anyone knows what could be the issue, or what can I do ? I searched the net quite a bit for a solution to no avail (here as well), any help is appreciated
Thanks

And there's your problem. Stock kernel has system write protection, so you can't mount system as writeable. You can, but after reboot, it comes back to read only, and nothing will stick into system partition. You have 2 choices now - disable system write protection on stock kernel, or flash a custom kernel
