[Q] replacing stock recovery - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello.
I using JM8 and want to replace stock recovery with clockwork but when I try to do it with the SGS it just stuck at "replacing stock recovery......." so I want to try manually using adb but I don't know how, I've been looking around and I don't find anything that helps me doing it. If someone have a solution for me please tell me.
tks.

Can't acces Clockworkmod

Hi guys,
I'm trying to flash a custom rom on a friend's galaxy s, I m not new at this, been flashing roms on HTC since 2 years so I m familiar with the processes.
I found that flashing a galaxy s was a bit different and I m having some issues...
I have rooted the phone with the one-click tool, flashed clockwork recovery via Rom Manager, now when i launch my recovery I can only access the stock recovery and not the one I flashed. i read somewhere that when in the stock recovery I have to launch the clockwork recovery as an update.zip, but whenever I try it says that "signature verification failed"...
Could somebody help me please ?
what rom does your friend have?

Bad section i think.
What's your current rom, and what do want to do with cwm?
You probably have to downgrade stock recovery from 3e to 2e first. Look around for "Elof's guide ". Good luck.

Search the Dev section for a rom called EZbase, follow the instructions then move to what ever rom you want.
Or just use Odin and flash hardcores kernel . There's instructions on how to do that in his thread. Then you will have 2e recovery.

You may not be able to access CWM, but I'm sure you can access the Q&A section right? This is where it belongs.
Btw, you have not tell us what stock firmware your friend galaxy s has, and what custom rom you are going to install. All custom roms has easy installation guide and some even has video guides on how to install. Perhaps you can also access the Search button.
Sorry for the wrong session post.

[HELP] Recovery problems

ok so i have a htc desire z... my brother has a galaxy s and im trying to install the recovery image for him but it wont work.... can anyone tell me how? i don't know why i cant do it. I recovery with the blue writing is still coming up even though i flash a new one through clockwork mod. anyone help please?
can nobody help?! im just asking for someone to tell me what u did to get clockwork mod on its not working for me!!
what dos the desire Z have anything to do with it? i would assume the files for one phone are not the same as the other. also, for some reason, the CWM app that flashes the recovery for you seems to be faulty. either try to flash it multiple times through the app or do it via ADB.
If your rooted you can use Rom Manager to install CWM.
Or alternately you can flash a custom kernel(Like Speedmod Froyo if on 2.2) which has CWM with a whole lot of other tweaks to make the SGS awesome http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822756

Help first time rom user

Hi this is my first time posting in the forums. Im trying to install cyanmod 10 on my galaxy s. I just earlier today rooted my phone using superoneclick.
The problem Im having is when I both into recovery the phone keeps booting into the stock 3e recovery and not clockwork.
I then get the E signature verification failed error.
How do I get the phone to both into Cwm recovery and not the stock. Recovery 3e
Also another problem I have is when I try to do a backup using nandroid online I get the following message.
"busybox not found!
mkyaffs2image not found....
if you have problems with the backup of script please install mkyaffs2image from the setting menu!
Onandroid script not installed!"
I don't know what that means or what to do about it.
My phone is using 2.3.3 firmware
Build number GINGERBREAD.XWJVH
Baseband version I9000XXJVO
Kernal version [email protected] #2
I've tried googling these problems but I couldn't find a solution.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Im a noob at this so please be gentle
Anyone? please?
surely someone has had this problem before

To solve all your problems as well upgrade your phone to GB 2.3.6, just flash a JVU + Root or any rescue kit from My Android Collections
after that you need to install busy box from play store in orde to have busybox.
Anyone else have any solutions?
I don't really understand the above post
I don't want to go messing around when I'm not 100 percent sure

I assume you did the same as I and tried flashing the recovery through odin, this leads to the revovery not working. Just root your phone using CF auto root. You then download the app flashify. Grant root acces.
Download the twrp-3.0.1-0-noblelte.img
Falsh it through flashify and then reboot recovery
MOHSIN
i have samsung galaxy note 5 SM-N920CD today i am trying to root my phone using CF-Auto root via odin3. then my phone stuck on blue screen with: An error has occured while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software. it is also not opening download mode.
i tried smart switch but it could search my device SM-N920CD
