Does anyone know how to disable the "Call Status Tone" on the N1? Every time I make a phone call or answer a call, I have to wait to hear the beep before I can talk. It has driven me crazy since I got this phone. I was playing with my wife's Vibrant and came across the option to turn it call tone on or off in her Call Settings, but there is nothing of the sort on the N1.
Does anyone have any idea how to do it? I would be eternally grateful!
Thanks in advance!!!
Anyone?

Never even heard of this before.
Are you sure it's the phone, and not a third party app or something (like Google Voice)?

I am pretty sure it has been making the beep since I got the phone and it has happened with every ROM I have installed on the phone.
When a phone call connects, there is a 1 second pause then a beep, then I can start talking.
Am I the only one who has this happening?

Doesn't happen to me.
ive never run into this either, and ive had both tmo and att n1
ive got the vibrate after call answers thing turned on in cyanogen but no beep...
i you google voice and sometimes just call with my cell number too and no beep
when you say you get this across different roms, do you do a full wipe between roms?
if so i'd imagine its hardware
I finally figured it out today, it only happens when I am on my Jabra headset. It is fraking aggravating!!!
Does anyone know how to turn it off?
I'm pretty sure that's the headset doing it, not the phone.

Agreed - it's the headset... RTFM.

Off to the Jabra forums you go.
Mines makes the same annoying sound overtime you make a call a tone plays in the speaker when it connects any ideas on how to turn this off? I just use the phone no headset etc
Either it's something your carrier does, or you've installed something that's causing it. It's not the phone.
thanks for the info

I have a rooted Captivate running 2.2 stock. It is also unlocked and I am currently using the phone in the UK with a pay as you go sim card from Orange. I therefore updated to 2.2 through Kies Mini. All was well.
Then all of a sudden, I would make or get a call, and could hear nothing. Not even the ringing as it was connecting to them. And on the other end of the line, they couldn't hear me either. It is as if the Captivate was connecting the call, but the rest of it'd hardware (mic and speaker) was turned off.
This doesn't always happen, probably 1 out of every 2 calls. I've learned that by restarting the phone I can normally make a working call. However, sometimes, all I will hear is muffled static, as if the sound coming from the other person was all distorted. I will hang up and call back to no sound whatsoever.
I'm really not sure what the problem is, it's very odd. Everything else functions as it should.
Any suggestions? Many thanks in advance!
Try going back to stock and starting over? It sounds like it is something with the software since it was working before the update.

Hello people. I have my phone over 7 months now and today I put it near my ear and notice a sound like a buzzzz. The strange thing is that the screen was off. it buzz like 10 seconds and than nothing. when I turn the screen on the buzz was still there. I notice that the sound is on when I`m browsing or using xda forum or market, anyway when the phone is in 3g mode. If I turn off 3g I don`t hear the buzz.
Do you notice this? Is there anyone with this problem? Is there a way to solve this?
Thanks
Never heard about this before.
Personally my phone makes absolutely no noise.
Does it also make the sound if you're in WiFi-mode rather than 3G?
Does the phone also vibrate while making the buzzing sound or only buzzes?
I don't know about wifi. It's like I can hear the traffic
The phone doesn't vibrate when i hear the buzz. It' s not like an error. The buzz is so slow that you can hear only when the phone is close to the ear like you are talking on it

never heard a noise from my phone.... i think you should go get it checked...
did you try to take the battery out and back in?
Doubt the buzzing is linked to anything software related.
If it's a problem it's definitely hardware related.
I would also get it checked out.
The buzz is not all the time. It's random.

if its random... than i think its has to be checked.
I tested more and I notice the buzz only when I`m browsing xda, market, net. I turn 3g on but the buzz don`t start until i`m browsing. If I terminate the programs with taskmanager the buzz disapear. On wifi I have no buzz. Could be this because of the network?
I had something like this in my old phone, nokia n95
All the time I was hearing buzzz from the spiker
It dosen't metter, the phone works great
Noticed this on 2 different Ones. Occasionally, I'll get a phone call and it will vibrate, but not ring. Usually rebooting will fix it, but it always happens again.
I am seeing the same issue, but have a more specific symptom. My ringer works fine until I play music. After I'm done with the music, if someone calls, it won't ring. I will do some more testing with Beats off and see if I can narrow it down to that. I have kept Beats on all the time so far.

Same here!
Same Here!
I saw this once as well, straightened out itself though. :scratches head:
Sent from my soon to be rooted HTC One.
I did a little testing last night and could not repeat the symptoms.
I grabbed my wife's phone and called mine: it rang.
I played some music with Beats on and called again: it rang.
I turned off Beats and played music, then called again: it rang.
I turned Beats back on and tried again: it rang.
I repeated this for a couple of times, but never could get it to turn down the ringer like before. It seems pretty random. I did reboot the phone just before I started testing last night. Maybe that has something to do with it. I have had it not ring after paying music twice now since I got the phone that I know of, though. Weird stuff...
HTC ONE no ring on incoming calls
I am suffering with the same issue. it is very random. but I am getting quite fed up with it now. after all it, its prime function is to act as a telephone.
how can we get this logged as a bug with HTC?
I had this happen once but I was on facebook at the time so I figured I must have hit the screen when the call came in. It's never happened while the phones screen was off though.
I can confirm this as a issue and man ...my faith in this phone is getting thin with all this miscellaneous issues..I'm not saying this phone is faulty but problems here are to common

Do any of you have quite ring on pick up checked? Maybe that's causing it

Hi all,
this one is pretty amusing at times, but mostly frustrating. So I have a this HTC One which was shipped with Android 4.1. Everything was great. Then I updated to 4.2 using the normal "check for updates" procedures.
Now, whenever I hang up or ignore a call, my MP3 starts playing. Systematically. Sounds like a bluetooth issue (most of my calls are dealt with through my bluetooth headset). I uninstalled the bluetooth app (Plantronics Voyager Legend UC), reinstalled, deleted and re-paired the device. No luck.
I can;t find anywhere a "playback" setting of any kind. Google-is-my-friend tells me I'm not the only one with that issue but so far, no solution.
If anyone has a clue, aside reverting to 4.1, I'd be grateful as this is quite embarrassing when you're in a meeting and you ignore the call... (good thing I got rid of my heavy metal MP3 files...).
Thanks,

I did get a chuckle on this one. The only suggestion I have would be to download a 3rd party music player, check it as the default player, and see if that helps.
Woops sorry buddy I didn't mean not to reply, just been busy. So yeah this is amusing at best. So I uninstalled all apps related to the headset, rebooted once more, and voila ! No more MP3.
As to why it ever happened in the first place, I'm as puzzled as you on that one.
Cheers though,
Well I spoke too early... randomly, after I hang up, there comes the music...
I considered slapping the phone on the wall but that's not very viable.
I went through all the settings for the phone, the music player, the bluetooth headset, I can't figure this one out.
Any ideas you want to throw at me, please do. Thanks,
I think I've been able to narrow it down. I think it only happens (but I have to confirm this) when the "car" application is on. However in the settings I can't see "resume music after a phone call" or something similar.
I think it's the "Car" application, however it's called, because the way the "play forward stop pause" buttons look similar to what's on the screen when the music starts playing... it's a long shot I know.
Do you allow your headset to be a control for the music player? If so, using the headset to hang up may well start the music playing.

Hi yeah well the headset is set as an audio output for music yes but there are no other controls, and in the settings nothing indicates anything about phone calls and hanging up etc... Weird hey

Has anyone experienced any issues with touchless controls? ie "Ok Google Now"
Seems my phone is cursed. While sitting on the table tonight it I said something to my wife which sounded nothing remotely like "Ok, Google Now" and it decided to call a very work sensitive number. Luckily I caught it before anything happened. This has been happening a lot lately and will trigger without any audio cues at all. Is it just me or has anyone else had issues?
I've also noticed mines randomly turning on touchless controls. I haven't had it actually prompt any commands but usually it will happen when my phone is in my pocket and then I'll hear the notification sound when touchless controls turns on. I noticed it only happens if there's a lot of noise around me, usually if there's people talking. I've even had it happen to me while I was driving and my radio was on kind of loud and I wasn't even talking. I'm also worried that it'll call someone without me knowing but luckily it hasn't happened. And I also agree with you that even though nothing close to the words "OK Google Now" were said, that it still turns on touchless controls. Hopefully it can be fixed in a future update.
Ok, good. At least I know I'm not going crazy. Two of my contacts are a hospital ER and a 911 call center. They're the last people I want to be calling because my phone is acting up.
One thing you can do is enable the "confirm before call" option. Then if it does decide to go a little crazy it shouldn't actually call unless someone says something that sounds like "call".

If I reenable voiceless I'll definitely do that. ThanX!
You could try to retrain the controls via the settings menu

I've experienced this, too, but not to the degree you've described. While watching TV my phone would activate Google Now in response to something it heard from the TV. Having retraining the touchless control phrase, that hasn't happened since (fingers crossed). I've never had the phone activate without any audio cues.
My wife had something of the opposite problem: her Moto X insisted that she use a perky, upbeat voice or it wouldn't listen to her. Retraining has dealt with that issue, too.

I've retrained it a few times. That's not really the issue. I can be in a quiet, dark room, typing at the keyboard and it will suddenly kick on saying it didn't understand what I said. A lot of times it's 'come alive' while in my pocket. If it weren't for the tell tell ding I probably wouldn't have noticed.
Yeah mine does it too. During movies, people talking. Its great.

Mine was also doing this really frequently. I initially trained and retrained it in my house which has stone floors and echoes like crazy.
After training it in my car which has really dead acoustics it seems to have stopped doing it.

Just went in the closet and retrained. No echo. We'll see if this helps.
mta: Since retraining the catchphrase I haven't had 1 misfire. Seems that any extra noise when training will completely throw this thing off kilter.
