Cant update from FRG33 to FRG83 (download Failed) - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have a complete stock non rooted SLCD N1 currently running FRG33.
I have been notified that the 2.2.1 update is ready to download but all i get is download failed?
The download is 82.4mb. It wont download via HSDPA or Wifi. I can get through to the internet no problem but it just wont download the update..
Any ideas?

Your Hboot is Higher

Download and install manually instead of letting the OTA do it for you?

argh.. didnt want to have to mess with it anymore and just wanted stock OTA updates
ok, so what do i need to do to get this to work ?
The phone isnt rooted however the bootloader is unlocked but has the stock recovery ...

Download the OTA file. Rename it update.zip and place it on the root of your SD card.
Boot into recovery (Power on with Vol- held, then pick recovery from the menu). When you reach the Android & warning triangle screen, hold Power & Vol+ to enter the menu. Pick install update.

[Q] Is my phone bricked?

So I wasn't paying a lot of attention while I was flashing to Cyanogen ROM and accidentally hit the update.zip (google apps) before installing Cyogen Mod. I looked up and then looked down then the phone vibrated and it was rebooting.
When the phone loads it attempts to get into a setup mode which just spams a force-close for process.gaps and com.android.setupwizard.
When I hit volume down + power and go into recovery it just gives me the android logo and an exclamation point. I've tried doing clear storage and that doesn't fix the problem. I was consistently getting the Exclamation point in the recovery image from ROM Manager, but going in and flashing to the alternate and back fixed it. I just can't get into the vanilla android OS right now.
Anyone have any ideas on what I could do to get out of this loop?
PASSIMG.zip
You can try the passimg method-
1. download a stock image and rename it PASSIMG.zip
2. Place the file on the root of your sd
3. Power off your phone, then turn it on by holding VolDown and pressing Power
*It will start up in HBOOT mode and will prompt you to flash the PASSIMG.zip update
Install a custom recovery first (Amon_ra being my preferred recovery) . Then flash what you want.

This worked. Thanks for the tips! Without this forum people like me, who know only enough to be dangerous, would be totally screwed.

[Q] Htc dream g1 froyo root question

I am a first time rooting. A couple things. First I'm pretty sure I've gotten up to Armon Ra Recovery and just want to know is there any way to check? Also if I've done everything correct then why is the radio update working? I have the file on the sd card root it goes to read it in recovery mode and it says installing cannot find file installation abort. Lastly I just want to make sure I do everything right after those steps because I really don't want to brick my phone.
To check if you have amon RA recovery working, try booting your phone into recovery mode. Power off the phone. Now hold down the Home and Power button until you enter Recovery mode.
For the radio, put it on the root of your SD card, and make sure the file extension is .zip, then enter Recovery mode by powering off the phone and holding down the Home and Power button. Go to "flash zip" and select the radio and proceed to flash it onto your phone.

Can't get into recovery nor can I flash update.zip

So I have 2 year old SGS i9000 in my hands. I am not new to flashing and i have tried everything to get into download mode, and it just seems imposible, held combinations vol up + power + home, vol down + power + home, tried with adb, etc...
I have managed to root it, unlock it with Samsung_S Unlock, but I am having problems with trying to install slim bean. I am on android 2.2 froyo and rooted with super one click.
I am having this problem with update.zips: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1375145
And can't get into download as said above. Anyone have any ideas, I am stuck here.

I know about that but this is a really specific problem. Android system recovery <3e> does not allow to get into any other recovery like cwm, and in this recovery as explained in problem i linked in the first post you can't flash update.zips. So the only solutions is to flash some kernel with cwm recovery, not this stock ****, but there is another problem i cannot flash anything since i don't have recovery that can flash something and i can't get into download mode so i could flash via odin.
I am starting to think there is no solution here that this phone is fuc*ed, since adb failed me too. Why did i have to get the version that doesn't go into god damn download mode...
Is there an app that can get you directly to download mode?

You are lucky.Don't update rooted phone via OTA.I received same update and I installed it without thinking. After that while rebooting it stuck in fastboot/bootloader mode.I had to wipe my device completely in order to make it boot.I think to update your phone you'll have to unroot your phone, relock bootloader and then update

boot into recovery - how to -
press and hold volume down and power button until phone goes off and chimes - still holding volume down release power button count to 5 and release volume down
phone should boot to APfastboot mode use volume down scroll to recovery and press volume up (NOT power) - logo then black screen and finally fallen android.
now hold POWER button and quickly tap volume up - should be in Android system recovery <3e>
use volume down factory reset- this totally wipes phone - takes a while - then reboot system now
if no better must be corrupted download try to re download again or see my signature (blue) and re install LXB22.99-16 this will wipe phone to as new and you should get update again

all that required is stock recovery that matches system and unrooted
boot loader DOES NOT require relocking to install OTA update that is downloaded to phone

this is how to manually install if downloaded OTA fails to install - Forced install - it will still halt if wrong recovery or system is found.
save attached zip to phones internal storage NOT you sd card (do not unzip or rename)
reboot in stock android recovery follow instruction a few posts up
choose (volume down) update from zip - press power to choose

re download zip in case of corruption and try again if not
reflash phone with complete LXB22.99-16 rom from my signature (blue links) then apply update
Will this delete my data or void warrenty
Reflash rom will delete my data n void warrenty??
And there is only one option in recovery to "update from sdcard".

re flashing rom will delete data yes -if you still have locked boot loader you warranty is still valid, you can flash same rom or go upwards in number version with a locked boot loader
the apply update from sdcard in standard stock android recovery in referring to internal sdcard (internal storage) not you micro sdcard

Noob with Huawei phone - 2 issues.

Hi,
I got a Huawei phone to play with and I tried unlocking the bootloader and installing a new ROM.
Got root with rootking. Can't install SuperSU.
1. I unlocked the bootloader via unlocker.
Whenever I try to install TWRP recovery, The recovery doesn't load up and the device restarts.
I have tried 2870 and 3000. nothing works.
Flashed stock recovery 2.3 back so I will have a recovery on the device.
What seems to be the problem?
2. The phone's build is P7-L10V100R001C00B125.
Custom ver. CUSTC576D125
I would like to update to the latest version.
What version can I update to ? I've read so many posts and I can't understand if I can update to P7-L10C900B852 (via a full image file) for example.
Do I have to change the custom ver. or not ?
Please explain the rules about the build number and the custom ver.
Thanks in advance
J
Can someone please help?
I'm still working on it and I can't figure out the problem...
@jamses, try this method that i came up with,
Download B839 official ROM and copy it to root of your SD card to a new folder "dload"
It should look like this "/dload/UPDATE.APP"
Extract UPDATE.APP (on your computer) using Huawei Update Extractor (all files)
Go into bootloader (Power + Vol Down)
Now open command line and use ADB (Android Debugging Bridge) to send following commands to your phone:
fastboot flash recovery RECOVERY.IMG
fastboot flash boot BOOT.IMG
Now force update by turning off your phone, and turing him back on while holding all 3 buttons pressed down.
When screen comes on release the Power button but keep holding both Volume rockers pressed down until you see an EMUI logo.
If for any reason it fails to install, go back into recovery and do Wipe data/Factory Reset, and than try again.
Let us know how it went
