Decent rom

Hey, can anyone reccomend a good rom?
not updated since june. got dutty's xt 3.9 wwe.
I'm sure theres been updates since then?
Who's had good experiences with what?
Thanks
If you want stability and speed - try topix.
If you want many things inside it and eyecandy - try energy.
If you want lightweight - try onkolog.
If you like dutty's one - go on with dutty's R12.
Miri is also has a good combination. But not for me.
-personal opinion-
very concise response thanks.
I'll probably hit the new dutty's rom.
just seen some really nice skins too, a lot can happen in 2 months.
one thing i've noticed the new dream and magic phones, are they beter than the touch hd, or is hd still the best HTC device?
Where can you find the R12 dutty rom?
http://
p.s: Just noticed that thread closed and I've removed the link. Just google it ^^

Where is he? I had a thought yesterday. Perhaps people should be made to wait a month after signing up to XDA developers before they can post!

that is silly. the guy asked a question and it was answered. flamers should get castrated, and new members should be treated with respect. if you're nice to them, they are more motivated to learn from the experience and read before they post.
I waited about 3 months before I made my first post. But then again, I also got a warning on my first post

i agree we should treat new members with respect, but the moderators are encouraging new members to scan ROM threads for feedback vs starting new threads. they can also post questions in the appropriate ROM threads.
my apolgies, technically it was my 30th post so i should have known better.
Just been out of the loop for 2 months, laziness is no excuse.
But the fact I was answered is a great tribute to the verterain users of the forum.

Perhaps you created new thread without reading forum rules, or you didn't post your query in an existing thread.

Would tend to agree with you both, all new members should be treated with respect, but at times it can be difficult due to the same questions being asked repeatedly. As cortez.i stated above we try (when possible) to encourage everyone to search existing threads before creating new ones. If threads already exist on your topic, but you cannot find your answer within thread, you should post your query into this thread, and not create a new one.
Forum rules clearly state this, and failure to abide by forum rules can result in warning and temporary bans.
To date I have not banned anyone for creating new threads, but continual disregard of forum rules will result in a ban.
Thanks for your time

Guys,
every day i see a new thread created by some users.
It is mostly like, how can i do this, how can i do that.
It is really simple, if you want to ask something about an option or a function that isn;t working then please post in the corresponding thread so we can have a clean forum.
Here is a link to the rules:http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=256
please read it guys, it is very annoying to see a new thread everytime.
mods, please put some time in this xperia forum with cleaning out the ''litter''
@ all, thank you very much for your cooperation.
Now @ 203 views and nobody has left a comment or suggestion or something like that?
I think this is what the community has become, like only get what you need and then use it and then complaining, no suggestions or anything, no thanks for the chefs ?
i understand what ur saying but a im pretty sure a mod has just moved some of the useless threads because a lot of them have been moved

No.
I think people read your post and ignored it because it contained nothing useful in itself. It's a public forum, if you want neat and tidy you're probably in the wrong place.
I'm not looking to pick argument it just seems to me your original post was pointless. In most cases the title of a thread gives you enough info to decided whether it's worthy of reading.
Sure there are plenty of people who come here just to get what they want and give nothing back, again it's the nature of the beast. But I think there's still plenty of people who are willing to give as well as take and on a whole the forum still functions well.
My biggest gripe would be people asking questions answered on the previous page (i.e. lack of search) not untidiness.
Also I think the X1 forum has lost a lot of active members to the LEO forum recently. Again this is inevitable given the age of the device and the progression of handsets.
The LEO thread is much more active currently IMO. POP over there, don't forget most of what they're discussing applies to our device too.

this is true, but some can also give reasons (which are also true) that some threads are really huge, specially good rom threads, on average they are 1000 posts longs, some go as long as 11,000 posts (valkyrie), when someone new get a rom and gets a small bug, it is really impossible to read all past thread, and unfortunately the thread search is not always helpful...
the best thing for a rom forum is to be a wiki, where each rom gets a page with generic information, and links to threads of sub pages that have useful information, like how to fix a known bug, or where to get an app that does that thing..... and leave the bla bla discussions or personal opinions on the forum.
some rom developers follow such a method, but partially, in the first few posts reserved for the rom you sometimes find links to common issues and solutions, but after a while everything gets messy again....
a ROM is a "product" that needs its own area or even a forum by itself. not a single forum for many products, this brings the mess....
but this need much organization, the price to be less messy

You are right and its mostly down to newbies. I'm someone who makes a point of holding off on posting on a few forum until I see the layout, get the rules, etc. so I don't annoy seasoned members and get a bad rep for being stupid.
A lot of new members to the site are a bit out of their depth (I know I was when I first joined) and its not really only being used as a developers forum/site any more. If you're a newbie you've got two choices: (1) ask, (2) spend countless hours trying to work it out for yourself.
I guess the lazy ones are a bit thread happy!
EmuX
P.S. You can show people the rules but you can't make them read.
P.P.S. Isn't this another one of those clogging up threads that aren't anything to do with ROM dev though?! (joke)
I hovered around in the X1 forum for a little more than a year, and most recently, after getting a new (additional) toy, I moved over to another forum, the one which is mentioned here already.
Frankly spoken, I have the perception that the X1 forum here is quite in order, while the HD2 forum is a real mess. For many "similar" problems and questions, many newcomers open a new thread instead of using the search function. In case of the X1 forum, there is much more "discipline".
Plus, the mods of the forums are quite effective here, I would say.
I am still very thankful that xda devs exists, thanks to all who contribute, especially the cooks... and also to those who help understanding the forum (and its rules) to newcomers. All of us started "small" and as "newb", no? And from time to time, I try to help, too - even if I am just an "average" user.
Mods please close thread
I think the point is made.
mods, please close this thread
im partly responsible for your this thread and once agian, i am sorry....i promise u it wont happen again..

Objections to new user posts

Does anyone else not like that new users cannot post in the developers forum until u have posted atleast ten post in the general forum?

Yeah, most new users come here to ***** about it, untill they realize that it's not that hard to get 10 posts
Sent from my 'SilverBullet' HTCDesireZ running CM7
Nope, not at all. I had made 5 or 6 posts before even hearing about said rule. Then again, I'm not a developer, so I likely won't be posting in the hallowed forum where the collective genius does it's cogitations.

Really not that big of a deal imo.
http://objection.mrdictionary.net/go.php?n=5183727
What you've done here, is make a thread complaining about the 10 post requirement, so noobs can feign interest to get 10 posts and spam the development forums. In all honesty, senior members (who can be trusted) should need to approve of them. Or mods. But there would be too much for the mods to approve. Hence the trustworthy seniors.
I've mentioned this before, but look how you can make a difference with your first 10 posts, like this guy did!...

It is a developers forum after all so it's all about the contributions you can make. I'm sure you'll be contributing in time too. Have a read of some guides and wikis, browse some theme threads and thank the people for their efforts. You'll be well on your way within an hour!

True, but look at the majority of members with less than 10 posts. Yes, there is a minority with something decent to contribute, but these people are either long time lurkers or spend most of their time in other forums.

nah, keeps us from making a$$ of ourselves right away.
a noob on this forum may be a senior on another.. anyway, 10 posts is not a big thing.
the irony is, when the ROM creator asks for feedback, you find that you cant post on that thread!!
Edit: This is my 10th post!! Jailbreak!
I personally disagree quite strongly with it. When it was first being discussed I was under the impression that new users would not be able to create threads in the dev forums, and I was all for that. Then I realised it was not that, and suddenly the Q&A, and sometimes General, forums are filled with people asking for help flashing a ROM. My usual response is "ask in the ROM thread - the rules of XDA state not to make a new thread if there's an existing one", and they quite correctly respond that they're not allowed.
Basically, this new rule has made the Q&A and General threads even more disorganised than they already were.
I don't like it either, posting 10 posts is not easy
To all you noobs out there:
1. Read. <- You have two eyes, but ten fingers. Stop for a sec, read first before typing ANYTHING.
2. Respect. <- Most of us have gone through a lot. We've done a lot. We've contributed a lot. You have not earned the right to come in screaming, and neither have you earned the right make demands. Most of the people here do it for free. Be grateful, and worship the devs as they are meant to be.
Quite annoying i agree.. i have some nice solutions on android dev for miui on dhd..but i have tö nag up ten nonsense posta herr firat.

I'm only at 7 and I want to post in a ROM Thread to point out some bugs which sucks that I have to wait before I can post a bug, but it's only 10 posts which is easy to get. I guess it helps with spam and people posting the same question or problem that's been posted before.

Hello All

Hi Guys,
Just thought I'd post and say Hi to everyone on XDA.
Love the site, was lurking for about 6 months, before I decided to join up, but wanted to say a big thank you to all the developers on here.
I have an HTC Desire HD running Android Revolution HD 5.1.11 and as you may be able to tell from my username and avatar, am an avid Tottenham Hotspur supporter.
Hope to make myself as useful as I can on the site, and hope you all keep up the good work.
Cheers guys.
